The TLB-GbE Ethernet Loopback Devices is a true plug-and-play product that requires no initial set-up to operate. The device can operate as a companion to the MetroNet 5001 Series, 720 DSP or 1G DSP for remote loopback when running Gigabit Ethernet tests from the field device. Its portability allows the technician to take it along on any service call or leave it at a remote loop back location.

The TLB-GbE comes with both a GbE electrical RJ-45 and a GbE optical SFP interface (transceivers and LC jumper cables are sold separately). The device has a 10/100/1000BASE-T management port for modifying its configuration using TLB Manager, a simple, one-page graphical user interface that operates on Windows® XP (32 bit) Windows® Vista (32 bit) or Windows® 7 (32 bit).

The TLB-GbE provides Ethernet loopback for all levels of service testing and monitoring in a lightweight, compact, plug-and-play unit. The TLB-GbE’s smart loopback function can process Ethernet frames, IP and TCP/UDP (Layer 2 to Layer 4) in real-time for wire speed loopbacks. Link OAM 802.3ah loop back and discovery are supported in addition to loopback control and response.

Each Ethernet frame and IP packet received by the TLB-GbE is inspected and the following parameters are automatically swapped and returned:

■ Source/Destination MAC addresses

■ Source/Destination IP addresses ■ Source/Destination TCP/UDP ports

With its lightweight, rugged design, and lack of any initial set-up, the TLB-GbE is the most cost-effective loopback device for quick testing of Ethernet traffic.
