Only Of Its Kind Semi-double Stage Degasification Chamber, delivering upto 40% efficient degasification & dehydration then conventional single stage plant :–

Degasification & Dehydration is done mainly by FIBER GLASS COALESCING METHOD &

then by RASING RIG technology. Glass fibers of 4 to 7 micron dia not only exposes each liter

of oil into a corresponding surface up to 400 m2 area but sharp ends of glass fiber contributes

to the evolution of the gas from the oil break-up to gas bubbles. Thermo-Vacuum Treat, using

the Fiberglass Coalescing Method ensures Water removal from 50 PPM to 2 PPM and Gas

removal from fully saturated with air ( say 10% ) down to 0.1%. Upon that oil is made to pass

from a well ventilated Racing-Rig bed for complete removal of evolved moisture & gas to

achieve unmatched result in single pass.

Only of it’s kind FOAM REDUCTION System consisting of

Foam Trap where from low density porous oil void spaces

are removed , any left over dissolved gases are exhausted

using the vacuum pumping system & any vaporized or

volatile oil body is sucked back in the DG chamber .

Thereby converting oil foam into normal liquid state.

The Separate Transformer Evacuation System has been designed to be used in multiple ways as-

COMMON DESIGN FEATURES:-

INLET STRAINER: Inlet strainer is cleanable very easily by opening the front lid without dismantling the main console. It has been placed at a place free from other components interference for ease of work. A oil collection tray has been placed beneath it, which is connected to the draining point to prevent oil spillage on the machines base during servicing.

Every component of all the plants has been designed & placed in most simplest & logical way possible for being repaired & serviced by any technician with very basic technical knowhow.

What is Mineral Insulating Oil or Transformer Oil?

• TRANSFORMER OIL IS A COMPOSITION OF SEVERAL HYDROCARBONS. • ITS MAIN CONTENTS ARE NAPTHANIC, PARRAFINIC AND AROMATICS HYDROCARBONS.

Why Mineral Insulating Oil is used?

Mineral insulating oil or commonly known as Transformer oil is used in Transformers , High Voltage Capacitors, Fluorescent Lamp Ballast & some type of High Voltage Switches & Circuit Breakers ---

•To provide dielectric strength. •To provide high flash point. •To provide High Insulating Resistance. •To provide efficient cooling. •To provide freedom from moisture & freedom from oxidation •To protect the transformer core and coil assembly from chemical attack. •To prevent the buildup of sludge in the transformer.

How Transformer Oil gets contaminated?

Transformer oil is liable to absorb un-acceptable contaminants formed inside high voltage instruments due to development of ageing products. Such as- • Formation of Acids due to Chemical decomposition. • Oxidation. • Formation of Gases. • Electrical stresses • Thermal stresses • Effect of oxidation products. • Moisture. • Solid Matters like Dust, Fibers, Metallic particles , Varnish and Sludge

& also due to any kind of physical contamination as a result of leakage in the encloser of the instrument, etc

Why oil filtration is required?

When the concentrations of impurities are significant the oil has to be made fit for service by filtration . The process is made in a Filtration plant. MACROTECH insulating oil reconditioning & filtration plant has been designed for High & Ultra High Vacuum and Low Temperature ( 450 C) of oil for achieving high parameter of oils as per IS-6034-1989 and IS-1866-2000. Benefits of oil filtration are—

• Insulating mineral oil is highly expensive oil, therefore replacing the oil is very cost effective & impractical but filtering this oil is not only highly economically profitable but also eco friendly.

• With Presence of contamination in oil Performance & Life expectancy of extremely valuable High voltage

Transformers are affected greatly. Contamination in Transformer oil can result in complete breakdown of the transformers worth millions of Dollars. Whereas with good quality transformer oil transformers life expectancy could be enhanced by 200%.

Test recommended before and after reconditioning of mineral insulating oil

General Condition ( ASTM ):

The oil should be clear and bright. If the oil sample appears cloudy this is an indication of the presence of excessive moisture, dirt, fibrous material. If oil have unusual odour or a dark appearance then investigation is warranted. Visual interpretation of can often serve as a guide to the condition of the oil.

Electric Strength (BDV) (IS:6792)

The electric strength is the voltage measurement carried out under test conditions and is a means of assessing the extent of contamination. The presence of contaminants such as water and fibrous material, when subjected to electrical stress, can lead to gas bubble formation and subsequent failure at certain high voltage called break down voltage.

Moisture Content (IS: 335) Maximum level 35 ppm:

The dryness of the oil has a direct effect on the electric strength of the transformer. It is essential therefore that the moisture content of the oil is monitored at regular intervals by using modern coulometric equipment.

Dissolved Gas Analysis:

Under electrical stress conditions, oil will produce various gases which can result in voids within the oil tank - affecting the insulation capability and eventually leading to transformer failure. By carrying out periodic DGA & thereby extracting these gases from an oil sample and comparing results and changes over known periods it is often possible to diagnosing fault conditions by comparing normal and abnormal ratios.

Neutralization Value (IS: 1448) Maximum level 0.02 mg KOH/gm

These contaminants have a very aggressive effect on the materials of the transformer. The neutralization value of the oil sample will indicate the oil life remaining before it contributes to the deterioration within the transformer. If the acidity increases above a certain level the oil requires replacement / regeneration to prevent deterioration of both current carrying and insulating components within the transformer. Hence, it is good practice to process oils well before neutralization value limits are reached if the transformer is to give long and reliable service.

Specific Resistance (Resistivity) (IS:335)

When the concentrations of particulate contaminants and oxidative products are significant there will be low resistivity values.

FFAs, Phenol and m-Cresol:

Furfurals, phenol and m-cresol are produced by the breakdown of the paper and press board used to insulate the transformer. Therefore, periodic analysis for FFAs, Phenol and m-Cresol can provide valuable diagnostic trend details regarding degradation of solid insulation within the transformer which guides identifying possible fault conditions before these actually occur.
