Hi from Nat’l. Chevy, We managed to get away for a short time and made it all the way to Pomona. The show was fun but slow as unemployment we were told is about 15%. Sold a few things, bought a couple things, ran into some people from home trying to warm up some, passed out catalogs and enjoyed the warm sunshine. It was really cold when we left Minnesota at about 3 a.m. on January 1. I don’t know for sure what we did or didn’t do, but we tore reverse out of our towed vehicle so we towed it back home and it’s supposed to be ready tomorrow. I’ll be happy to have it back so I don’t have to drive the truck anymore. It’s still cold here but we haven’t had any big snows – just cold with high heating bills. I had a suggestion from a member in Ohio about adding a question and answer section. If you think you would be interested in a section like that please send in your questions along with a first name and a phone num-ber or email address. If we receive an answer to the question it can be put in the next issue. We have tried this before and actually had a VCCA judge to help us, but it just didn’t take off. Sometimes it’s easier to call our tech and get your answer right away. So again – if you are interested send in your questions. While on the subject of the newsletter once again, I am requesting some pictures and stories for the newslet-ter. I appreciate the help you continue to give me very much. Also, don’t forget you can purchase color copies of the newsletter for $4.00 or if your car is on the cover I will send you a copy. Also, my apologies for your ads being run so late, but I needed to get three issues ahead so I could get some time off to go to Pomona. Time to go – ‘til next month......

Dear Sir: Ken Bridge and I restored this 1953 Chev in 2001. We have gone to many car shows with it and have won all kinds of awards. We enjoy driving it. It is stock and has a 3-speed transmission. It gets good gas mileage and runs great. It is a fun car to drive.

Thanks,Ken Bridge

Cover CarDear Sir: You said in your Parts-Line club newsletter that you needed more pictures for the newsletter. Enclosed are pictures and the story of my 1952 Chevy that I purchased early summer in 2009. I pulled the car out of a shed near Park Rapids, MN for $5.00. I had a chance to buy this car 27 years ago; I turned it down. But this year I saw the person that had bought the car. He dro ve the car home and put it in the shed. Since then it was never driven. When I got the car home, to my surprise, the odometer read 16,513 miles on it. I contacted the person who tried to sell me the car 27 years ago. He is in his mid 70s and he said, as far as he knows, that the mileage is correct. After going through the brakes, fuel line, tank, carburetor and new ignition points, the car runs very good. The upholstery was full of chipmunk nests. I did an amateur upholstery job, and put in a new floor carpet. It has some minor rust that I plan to have repaired this next summer. What is surprising is the before and after pictures. That is the original paint and all I did was buff it out. This summer I plan to have the car on the road again, in the same town it was driving in from the 1950s through 1982. A lot of older people like me remember the lady who drove the car. Her son, who tried to sell me the car years ago, told me that her husband died in the mid 1970s. The city’s part-time police officer bought the car from her, and told me that when her husband died she got a driver’s permit. When the permit expired, she never got a license, and drove on the expired permit until she died. Boy, how times have changed.

Dear National Chevy, Enclosed please find the oil line set that you sent me in good will. As you can see, we did not need them. The original set that we bought that we feared leaked were too short after we placed the oil filter in its location. We ended up having new ones made. Thank you for trusting us and not making us pay for them if the original set leaked, but I am sure you under-stand that with all the work we did to the car, if they did leak it would have made a mess. It’s nice to know that there are still people who do business the old-fashioned way. This is why I continue to purchase stuff from you and will continue to do so. Although my car is not complete, I am sending some pictures and will send more as I make progress. Keep up the great work. Thanks again.
