A New Year, A New Campus! LifeLong Learning Institute (LLI)

Galloping Through CNY CelebrationsThis Lunar New Year, TMIS colleagues were treated to a sumptuous reunion buff et

lunch. We had a whale of a time and it was a splendid day fi lled with uproarious

laughter, hearty feasting, and popping of CNY goodies! Some of us were even

donned in red and gold! Blessings and greetings were exchanged amongst

colleagues as we welcome the Year of the Horse! The celebrations ended with a

round of the traditional Lo-Hei as TMIS tossed up good fortune, all ready to gallop

towards a prosperous 2014!

Eff ective April 2014, TMIS has re-located to the new CET campus East or better known

as the LifeLong Learning Institute (LLI), conveniently situated near Paya Lebar MRT

station. Managed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency(WDA), the LLI

is a one-stop training hub for fellow adult learners with all of the high quality CET

providers clustered under one roof!

TMIS is happy to be located at LLI. The new premises boost an open physical

architecture with an inviting and progressive learning environment for all. There are

also many shared facilities waiting to be explored, such as the tiered lecture theatre

holding a capacity of more than 300 adult learners, as well as the event halls which

can accommodate preview talks and seminars for up to 500 learners!

Learning Can Be So Fun

In the lead up to the Career and Education 2014 fair,

Doing Our Part

Super typhoon “Haiyan” hit the central Philippines province of

Leyte and some parts of the Visayas region on 10 November

2013. This storm has caused an estimated death of around 10,000

people and destroyed many of the region’s area. Over the month of

November, TMIS colleagues gathered to raise funds for the people

of the Philippines. These included setting up of donation drives and

contributing of old clothes to the victims of this calamity.

May we continue to pray for the people of the Philippines!

So when I was chosen to take part in this programme, I considered it a

privilege. And indeed it is. Aside from availing 100% free education, I have

learned a lot from this course. In the past, when I reported for work, I would

just look at my Event Order and follow the instructions. I was more of a

follower. Now, I don’t just glance and follow - I also add my own inputs.

I also discovered my leadership skills which I never realized I had before
