TNSA is providing incentive schemes and support system to

participation in tournaments around the world. We are in the process of strengthening this by mentoring and selection process – both at the school and club levels.
In 1998, an invitation from the Italian rock m u s i c g r o u p , “Dinamorock” for a footbal l match was accepted by TCV and the TNSA was called in to select and prepare the team. Thus, the first-ever Tibetan Football Team was selected and played in Bologna, Italy, in June 1999. This was the turning point for Tibetan football for it opened doors for talented players who could realize their dream of playing for their country.
In 2001, the Danish Tibetan Cultural Group invited the Tibetan Football Team to play against the Greenland National Team. This visit by our Tibetan Football Team left no doubt that given proper training and support, our players could successfully compete at International levels.
TNSA is a registered member of New Federation Board (N.F. Board), based in Paris, France. In May 2006, TNSA took part in the FIFI Wild Cup in Hamburg, Germany. There were six teams. Greenland, North Cyprus, Zanzibar, Tibetan Football Team, St. Paulo and Gibraltar. In November 2006, TNSA took part in the tournament organized by North Cyprus Football Association in their ELF CUP. Eight countries took part including Tibet. The Tibetan Football Team won the Fair Play Trophy. They adjudged the association's team to be the most disciplined one.

modern police fo rce in the early1920s saw more football in Tibet. The game continued to be p l a y e d throughout the period before C h i n a ' s occupation in 1950. In the 1950s a few popular teams emerged like the Lhasa, the Potala, the Drapchi and Security Regiment football teams. There were frequent matches among themselves. Some of these veteran players are still alive today.
In 1963, in the wake of the Tibetan exodus from Tibet, players from Lhasa formed a football club in Dharamsala but it could not make much of an impact. The real impact and popularity of football came when the Tibetan schools were set up in the 1960s. Tibetan children took to football like fish to water. Regular tournaments and matches enhanced the popularity of the game. And, today among all the sports disciplines football continues to remain the post passionate game in the Tibetan community for all ages.
In 1981, the first club level tournament was organized in loving Memory of the late Mother of His Holiness XIV the Dalai Lama - the Gyalyum Chemo Memorial Gold Cup (GCMGC). A special committee was formed to start the tournament. Over the years, various bodies took charge of organizing the GCMGC football tournament. Today it is the most prestigious tournament in the Tibetan Community.
TNSA came into the picture of organizing the GCMGC in 2003. Today it is fully responsible for organizing this tournament every year. There are more than thirty registered football clubs under TNSA. This is one tournament that involves maximum Tibetan youth and through this tournament, the TNSA selects its national team for

What is TNSA?
History
The Tibetan National Sports Association (TNSA), based in Dharamsala, H.P. is a registered and non-profit organization with specific aim to promote sports in the Tibetan community in general and select and groom a National football team/s to represent the Tibet in various tournaments within India and abroad.
TNSA is registered under the Indian Societies Act XXI, 1860. The Kashag Office of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile has approved its mission and functions. The Association has a Governing Body and an Executive Board to manage its affairs.
The association is the brainchild of Kasur Jetsun Pema, the then President of TCV. She initiated the move to start the association realizing its potential to energize the youth of Tibet through a natural vehicle to make a difference in our just struggle for our identity and culture. Accordingly, the association was formally formed in May, 2002 by pooling in human and financial resources of TCV. The association's intimate tie-up with TCV organization continues today. But, now the time has come for the association to find ways and means to stand on its own. And, this effort goes on today.
Tibetans were first introduced to the game of football in the early part of the 20th century by the British at the British Trade Agency at Gyantse when workers played football.

prestigious and the best of football clubs in India take part in these tournaments.
The Tibetan Football team won its first match against Manipur team and drew with the Bhutan XI. In the rest round our team lost to Bhutan XI in the rematch. We recognized this as big improvement. Tibetan football team has also participated in All India Shaheed Durga Mal, Dal Bahadur Tournament twice at Dharamshala.
Since 1999, one hundred eighteen Tibetan youth have had the opportunity to play for the Tibetan Football Team within India and abroad. The experience of these young people who had the opportunity is incredible. We want to expand this opportunity for our young people who have a passion for sports. The break up is:
