Dear Family, “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiv- ing, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” Psalms 100:1-5 ESV I thank God everyday for all of you. We are blessed beyond measure to have the RRVBA as our family. Thanks so much for your continued prayers. I will give another update on our family as soon as I have something solid to share. God has given me Matthew 21:21 to pray so we are waiting and watching for God to move. Beach Reach will be sneaking up on us very soon. Already the semester is more than half over and it’s time for me to be thinking, praying and planning for it. I’m praying that we would have two vans of students this year who would feel led to participate. God always uses Beach Reach as a training ground for students to be able to come back to their home town and share the Gospel. I hope to see many students involved as we roll into the spring semester. Thank you to all the churches that have provided lunches throughout the years. It is a valuable ministry that allows us to reach into people’s lives that might not normally seek out any kind of prayer support or friend- ship. Just today at lunch I had the privilege of sharing the gospel with a young man whose car was stolen a few days earlier. The BSM was the first place he stopped after finding out and he asked for prayer. Today the conver- sation continued and I was able to share some practical advice as well as provide spiritual direction. That’s what ministry is all about to me: mentoring, discipleship, prayer and evangelism. God is good and will no doubt con- tinue to move in this young man’s heart. We are still working to be a light on campus. “Zombies” continues to be a great activity and we are going to move it onto campus again in the coming weeks. We will also be partnering with FBC Paris to host an on campus Bible study in the chapel. This is something I’m looking forward to and praying God uses it to continue to open doors. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. May the PJC BSM be everything He wants it to be. May the RRVBA be everything He wants it to be, and may the King of Kings break our hearts for the people of our three counties. Lord God, bring revival to our land. JOY ON THE JOURNEY WITH "SEASONED" SAINTS by Gloria Parker, RRVBA Senior Adults Director November - that wonderful time of the year - THANKSGIVING - when our families try to get together to THANK GOD our CREATOR for the beauty of the season and recall some of the many blessings HE has so generously given us. We have been busy this past year reminded that our lives have meaning found in doing the work that God has called us to do. God began a good work in us the moment we were saved. He invites us everyday to join Him in His work, actively using us to accomplish His will until HE takes us HOME to HEAVEN. We are trying to live like we really believe that JESUS, THE PRINCE OF PEACE is coming back for US, His Church/His Bride very soon, and we must be ready! Monday, November 7 is World Day of Prayer at Springlake BC, 6:30 pm, which we PRAY will be attended by more RRVBAers than ever before, the day before Election Day. Please consider with me these words from Dallas FBC Pastor Dr. Robert Jeffress in HOW A CHRISTIAN SHOULD VOTE. "Those who argue that Christians do not need to become individually or corpo- rately involved in politics need to ask themselves: * Does God care whether unborn children are allowed to be murdered? * Does God care whether sexual immorality is sanctioned by the state? * Does God care whether any mention of His name is outlawed in the public square? * Does God care whether righteous or unrighteous people govern our nation? The answers to those questions reveal both why and how a Christian should vote." After such a blessed RRVBA Annual Meeting Oct. 18, ALL 2017 Senior Adults VBS dates are set ~ HALLELUJAH! Host Churches are: July 31 @ Bogata; Aug. 7 @ Chicota with Bounds assisting; Aug. 14 @ Immanuel; Aug. 21 @ Novice with some assistance possibly; and Aug. 28 @ Paris FBC. Because Bounds is a small church family, they asked to assist the larger church family at Chicota - GREAT IDEA! Others may choose to do the same, since our attendance has grown so much. It's gonna be gooood! The Red River Valley Old Fashioned Hymn Singers did not get to meet October 13 or sing at Stillhouse and Brentwood Homes as scheduled, but we plan to sing at these and others at Christmas. Our Director discovered on Wednesday he had to be out of town, so we set in motion our "Calling System," and it worked GREAT, Praise God! Thanks to ALL 5 of our very faithful Group Leaders who call "reminding" their groups each month. The Lord willing, we'll see YOU ALL at 9:30 am on Thursday, November 10 when we'll sing at The Home Place and Colonial Lodge Assisted Living. An Encouraging Word

I am thankful to so many of our pastors, churches, ministry partners, and staff for making the annual meeting such a great success. Thank you to Dr. Tommy Turner and First Baptist Church, Paris for being such wonderful host. The facilities and food were such a blessing. A special word to Dr. Turner for a most timely and powerful word of truth in the annual sermon. If you did not hear the message you missed a real blessing because Bro. Tommy was right on track! We are now in the last quarter of our associational church year. God has done so many wonderful things through our various committees and ministries. If you are a pastor or a leader in a pastorless church and you did not/have not received a copy of the new Church Directory or the annual Book of Reports, you may pick up a copy at the association office. There are many wonderful reports from our association ministries as well as from our state conventions, education institutions and other mission and ministry collaborators. As we approach the season of gratitude and thanksgiving, I am reminded that we can never say THANK YOU often enough. Again, thank you for the privilege of serving you and our 48 churches. May our hearts be filled with an attitude of gratitude. May our thinking lead to our thanking! I want to encourage every pastor, staff member and church to remember one another in this holiday season with a spirit of Thanksgiving and be thankful for each others service and love over the past year. As we remember the blessings of the past may it prepare us for the ministry and opportunities! Remember Paul's word of praise for the church in the Philippians 1:3-5. I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. Make this your praise in gratitude for one another this year! Happy Thanksgiving!

Bro. Mike Fortenberry, DOM
