Job Opening Number 2012-SPC-75914-DPKO Level of Post P-4[SP/DIG] Organization UNLB, Brindisi, Italy QUALIFICATIONS: -

Education: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Law, Criminology, social Sciences, or other relevant field. A first level university degree with a combination of relevant academic qualifications and extensive experience in combating serious and organized crime may be acceptable in lieu of the advanced University degree. Graduation from a certified police academy or other similar law enforcement training institution is required.

Work Experience : A minimum of seven years of active policing experience in a national police or other law enforcement agency at the strategic, operational, and administrative levels, including at least three years of experience in anti-transnational crime and anti-organized crime policy-making and implementation is required. Experience in UN peacekeeping mission or other similar national organizations, or regional forums is also required. The Secretariat of the United Nations presents its compliments to the Permanent. Mission of Member State to the United Nations and has the honour to invite its Government to nominate individual police officers in active service for appointment on secondtnent to the Standing Police Capacity of the Police Division, with its duty station in the United Nations Logistics Base . (UNLB) in Brindisi, Italy, for an initial period of one year, with possibility of extension.

Details regarding the posts-for which the Secretariat is seeking qualified applicants are provided in the attached Job Opening 2012-SPC-759I4:DPKO. Also attached arc the "Application Procedure for Position in the Standing Police Capacity of the United Nations Police Division Requiring Official Secondment from National Governments of United Nations Member States".

The Secretatiat kindly requests the Permanent Mission to submit a separate application for each nominee for each Job Openings) to the Selection and Recruitment Section/Police Division/OROLSI/DPRO, DC1- 0734, in accordance with the above-referenced procedures, certifying that the nominee/s meet/s the requirements in the attached Job Opening/s. REQUIRING OFFICIAL SECONDMENT FROM • NATIONAL GOVERNMENTS OF MEMBER STATES OF THE UNITED NATIONS

Outlined below are the procedures to be followed by Permanent Missions for the presentation of candidates to posts requiring secondment from active Police service, which are open for recruitment within the Standing Police Capacity of the United Nations Police Division, with its duty station in the UNLB in Brindisi, Italy. In the interest of promoting an orderly process and to avoid delay in the consideration of applications, Permanent Missions are respectfiilly requested to adhere closely to these procedures.

1._ The above mentioned posts are reserved for candidates recommended by Member States through their Permanent Missions to the United Nations. Candidates applying independently will not be considered. It is requested that applications he submitted as soon as possible. Applications received after the deadline specified in each Sob Opening will not be considered.

2. All applications must be submitted on a duly completed (typed) and signed United Nations Personal History Form (P.11) or printed Personal History Profile (PH?). Applications using other formats will not he accepted, but additional information may be attached to the P. I I. or PUP. 3.
