Paquita

The Grand Pas from the ballet Paquita was choreographed by Marius Petipa in 1881for Bolshoi after the original three-act ballet in 1846 based on the novel "The Gypsy Girl" by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. By the request of Petipa, the composer Ludwig Minkus composed the gala Grand Pas which has become the culmination of the whole ballet. The one-act ballet is the wedding-party of the beautiful Paquita and Lucien. Viktor Kabaniaev uses the brilliant choreographic composition of Petipa to showcase the students in the Professional Division.
