Richmond Palace• Henry VII built it on the site of the old

Palace of Shene which was destroyed in a fire

• There was a chapel, wine cellar, Great Hall, Great Court, Great Orchard, Fountain Court, and much more

• There were 3 stories with 12 rooms on each floor, and the outside was white stone

• The name was changed from Shene to Richmond because Henry VII and his father were the Earls of Richmond

Buckingham Palace• Served as the official London residence of

Britain's rulers since 1837• There are 775 rooms; 19 state rooms, 52 royal

and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices, and 78 bathrooms

• The Throne Room was sometimes used during Queen Victoria's rule for court assemblies and as another dancing room

• The Ballroom is the largest multipurpose room and has been used as a concert hall, a stage for performances of the arts, and investitures
