on 25 April 2016, Protasco Berhad has been ranked by RHBInvestment Bank as among the top five small cap stocks in its 2016edition of Top Malaysia Small Cap Companies.

The recognition was based on its growing businesses, especially in road maintenance, which has accumulated a RM769 millionorderbook.

Protasco’s road maintenance contracts and concession agreements means the division is a growing cash cow, contributing 58 per cent of Group earnings. This and its healthy construction order book, together with long-term engineering and consultancy agreements is expected to drive the Group’s near-term earnings growth, as cited by RHB Investment Bank.

Protasco’s De Centrum City in Kajang, that has a target grossdevelopment value (GDV) of RM10 billion over the duration of 20-25 years, is also a gem in the organisation.

in continuation with Protasco Berhad’s (PB) Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) programme, 35 PB Group staff participated in a one-day Volunteer Programme at Zoo Negara, Kuala Lumpur, which was held on Saturday, 20 February 2016.

The day at the Zoo started off at 8.30 am with a warmwelcome note by the Education Officer of Zoo Negarafollowed by a safety briefing and assignment of tasks. All volunteers were divided, segmented into threedifferent workstations; bird aviary, reptile cages and mammal dens. They were task to assist the zoo keepers in respective areas with daily chores such as raking and disposing of dry leaves, cleaning the animal dens, bathing

the animals as well as preparing food and feeding them. In doing so, they were allowed into the other side of the fences amongst the tigers, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, tapirs and reptiles to name a few.

It was indeed a tiring day but a wonderful experience for our volunteers as they got close to the animals. A few hours of assisting the Zoo Keepers and seeing the efforts made by Zoo Negara to ensure the wellbeing of the animals have given our volunteers a sense of appreciation and awareness of the issues and what we could do tocontribute towards making positive improvement.

OURTECHNOLOGY

A WSN-Based Bridge MonitoringSystem was installed under thePenang Bridge by Infotree Sdn Bhd.

The system is to monitor the bridge condition as well as to measure vibration, tilt events or inclination and settlement at strategic location. The selected site for system deployment is Penang Bridge, Pulau Pinang.

The monitoring system are powered by two Libelium technologies consist of Waspmote Plug & Sense (wireless sensor node) and Meshlium(gateway) which using wirelesscommunication module for acquiring sensor reading for bridge monitoring.

The gateway will accommodate the sensors connectivity by transmitting and caching real-time data to the back-end system. The gatewayreceives the sensor data such as vibration and tensile or compressive load sent by wireless sensor nodeusing the ZigBee radio.

The monitoring system will store the sensor data in the Meshlium Local Data Base (MySQL) and will later send the information to the backend system via a cellular link using 3G technology.

The backend system is a web-based monitoring system that allows connectivity from any remote PC terminal.

The gateway also allows the sensing network to becontrolled and re-programmed from remote sites.

Infotree Sdn Bhd is the provider and contractor for thisWSN-Based Bridge Monitoring System for Penang Bridge, Pulau Pinang. Infotree Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary company under theProtasco Berhad Group that provides IT services and solutions.
