DEPARTMENT AT A GLANCE:

The conference focuses on the latest developments in the field of Chemical Science and Technology. The conference also aims at providing an interactive platform to the academia, researchers, and the industry. Participations from different industries, universities, and academic institutions from all over the country and abroad are anticipated. The Organizing Committee hereby invites scientists / technologists engaged in basic as well as applied research from the Universities, Research Institutions, and Industries to participate. The scientific sessions will be comprised of Keynote, Plenary Invited Lectures, and Contributed Papers.

Medicinal Chemistry; Drug Design and Delivery Systems; Coordination Chemistry and Biomimetics; Green Chemistry; Supramolecular Chemistry; Chemical Kinetics and Catalysis; Nanomaterials and Functional Materials; Electrochemical Science and Technology; Chemical and Biosensors; Computational Chemistry; Molecular Modelling; Organic Synthesis and Asymmetric Synthesis; Heterocyclic Chemistry; Solid Waste Management; Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy; Modern Analytical Chemistry.

Besides keynote, plenary and invited lectures by eminent academicians and scientists from reputed academic institutions, national laboratories and industries, sessions for presentation of research results through oral and poster presentations to stimulate interdisciplinary discussions are included.

Abstracts for oral and poster presentations are invited on the topics of the conference. Scientists, faculty, and research scholars from academic institutions, National research laboratories and Industries working in the sub-themes of the conference are invited to submit abstracts. Cash Awards and Commendation Certificates will be given to Best Presentations from young researchers.

The glorious journey of this Department began with inception of the Institute in 1959 to undertake teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. A galaxy of eminent teachers was attached with this Department from the very beginning. The Department offers Chemistry courses (core as well as electives) for B.Tech Programs of the Institute and initially started M.Sc programs in two specializations Drugs, Dyes, Pesticides and Pharmaceuticals and Modern Method of Chemical Analysis with a noble cause of imparting higher education in the subject of chemistry to the students coming from all the background and impart necessary skills required for the grooming chemical and pharmaceuticals industries in the region of Telangana, for creating self-entrepreneurs and also churn out academicians and researchers who can take up jobs in educational institutes and research laboratories. Later in the academic session 2016-18, the programmes were changed to Organic and Analytical chemistry specializations. Admission to the M. Sc. Programs are strictly on merit through an IIT-JAM entrance test conducted in the month of June every year. About 48 students are admitted in the first year and distributed in two batches (Organic and Analytical) equally. The department is growing as an important landmark in the academic map of the country after years of quality teaching and research. The satisfactory performance of the students of this department in various national level examinations like NET, GATE and qualifying GRE/TOEFL for their graduate research in international reputed institutes render brighter side of the department.

The department has excelled in teaching and research with a sanctioned strength of 18 faculty, more than ten technical and lab staff. At present, 5 Professors, 3 Associate Professors and 7 Assistant Professors are engaged in the teaching and research. Department evolved itself into a well-known and repute academic research center. Research in the Department of Chemistry is a symbiosis of different branches of science ultimately leading to the diverse areas of chemical sciences and technologies. Each faculty member pursues research in one’s own area of interest and guide students for Ph. D degree. Currently, 40 PhD scholars are working in the department. More than 125 of our students have been awarded PhD degrees and more than 1000 research papers have been published in national and international reputed journals. Faculty

members undertake interdisciplinary research projects funded by various funding agencies. The feather in the glory cap of the department is FIST level-II sanctioned by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India. The department is equipped with state-of-art instruments to do frontier research in a broad range of disciplines. These include UV-VIS-DRS, FTIR, NMR, GC, HPLC, fluorescence spectrometer, electrochemical workstation and host other advance technological instruments. The students are provided a comprehensive practical exposure to the various instrumental techniques required for their courses. Faculty members have the regular practice of visiting research institutes in the country and abroad for their collaborative research, attending seminars, conferences, etc. The PhD recipients of this department also go to different distinguished laboratories abroad for post-doc positions. Not only having good research positions in reputed institutes all over the world but also the students are very much successful in achieving various jobs in academic, administrative as well as industrial fields after completion of their degree.

The National Institute of Technology Warangal, formerly known as Regional thEngineering College has entered into the 60 year from its inception when

India’s first Prime Minister Shri Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation thstone on 10 October 1959. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the NIT

Warangal is celebrating Diamond Jubilee with year-long celebrations from October 2018 to October 2019. Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Hon'ble Vice

thPresident of India has inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee on 8 October 2018. Over the years it has developed into a premier institute of higher learning and is ranked among the top technical education institutions in India. There are 14 Departments offering 8 undergraduate and 31 post-graduate programs besides doctoral programs. About 5500 National and International students stay on the campus. It is a fully residential campus sprawling over 250 acres with excellent infrastructure in the form of state-of-the-art library, seminar halls, guest houses and laboratories.

The Institute has shown excellent initiative in bagging big projects of substance and quality in the past few years. The total amount of the projects granted so far in recent year is amounting to Rs. 2363 lakhs. It has been performing exceedingly well in International Relationships and Collaboration. Of a total 63 courses allotted to NITW during the second phase of GIAN, 36 GIAN courses have already been conducted since last August. NIT Warangal has many MoU with reputed foreign university and industries. Recently an MoU has signed with the University of Virginia USA for exchange of faculty and students as well as exchange of educational, scholarly and research material Programmes search as HERITAGE, EUPHRATUS, IMPACT etc., are feathers in the cap of the NITW where students and faculty can participate in many exchange programmes with leading European Universities.

The Teaching Learning Center established by the MHRD under Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching scheme in NIT Warangal has been offering many Programmes such as Faculty Development Programmes, Workshops on Specific Topics of Technical Education, Development of Novel Teaching Tools and ICT tools, Manuals and Online Courses. Among all 25 TLCs operating all over the country, the TLC at NIT Warangal is the only TLC which has achieved the distinction of holding 3 Induction Training Programmes.

The MHRD’s Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) functioning at NIT Warangal is very active in mentoring School Education System in all districts of Telangana. Thousands of school children are visiting NIT Warangal under this aegis and are mentored by our faculty and PhD scholars. The MHRD through NPIU has sanctioned the TEQIP-III project in 2017-18 and it has been supporting many Skill Development Programs and National and International Conferences.
