County Execu ve Office Human Resources Training and Development is pleased to offer a variety of training classes for Ven-
tura County employees. Courses are focused on en-hancing employees’ profes-sional development and build-ing their skills to ensure a quality and effec ve work-force.
Courses include: Supervision Basics, Career Development, Real Colors®, Lean Six Sigma
Organiza onal improvement training, Discrimina on & Harassment Preven on, Workplace Security and a wide variety of computer classes such as: Microso Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, online learning op-portuni es and more.
How to enroll: Register through VCHRP Self Service or contact your department’s Training Representa ve for assistance.

VCHRP will generate an Enrollment Status email once your Training Representa ve processes your training request. Double check to see if your status says “enrolled” or “waitlisted” before a ending a training. Please print and bring your confirma on email to the training.

Youth Mental Health First Aid VC0702
This youth version of Mental Health First Aid is for any adult that works with youth such as teachers, coaches, pediatric nurses, or youth ministers. Similar to CPR this course provides informa on on how to help a young person in a crises but addresses mental health or substance use-related situa ons. IT Project Leadership Academy The Project Leadership Academy will help ensure that project managers, supervisors, and technical team leaders have the skills needed to effec vely complete projects, mi gate risk at cri cal points, increase overall quality, maximize cus-tomer sa sfac on and communica on, and closely manage and predict costs. The inclusion of Lean methodology and tools will enhance a project manager’s ability to manage the opera onal impacts of the implementa on.
The newly revised PLA program will consist of two (2) tracks – a cer fied project manager track, and a project manage-ment overview track for supervisors/managers who may have project managers working on their teams.
To successfully become a cer fied project manager, a commitment to a end ALL five (5) PLA sessions is expected, along with comple on of the mentorship program. The mentorship program is conducted on the first project a student man-ages for his/her department following comple on of the PLA courses. Successful comple on of all PLA sessions and men-torship program will include a formal PLA cer fica on for graduates. Due to space limita ons, capacity for twenty (20) cer fied project management students is available per PLA session.
There is no charge for the PLA, however, for the cer fied project manager track, a license for Microso Project 2013 will be required to be purchased by your department. Please have your Microso Project license available by the first class date, in order to complete class assignments. Contact the IT Services Help Desk to request MS Project on a subscrip on basis through Office 365 (on mul ple devices for $200/year). Please Note: Due to the limited space, departments with numerous PLA applica ons will be asked to priori ze the depart-ment candidate list for PLA considera on. Applicants who are not accommodated during this PLA session can be consid-ered for future PLA sessions.
It is important to be fully aware of the program expecta ons. Being a par cipant of the PLA requires departmental leadership support, a commitment to a end all sessions, complete all assignments, and requires a large commitment of your me. Please apply if you are fully commi ed to comple ng the Project Leadership Academy Program.
