SlocanSlocan is at the south end of Slocan Lake, where the Slocan River begins. During the 1890s, like New Denver and Silverton, Slocan was a busy mining boomtown with hotels, saloons and miners looking for wealth.

Founded in 1892 by silver miners, New Denver is a great launch pad for outdoor activities like camping, hiking, shing, biking, boating, and more. It’s also the site of the Silvery Slocan Museum, the Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre and the Kohan Garden. The ghost town of Sandon

Silverton started as a mining settlement in the 1890s and became a thriving mining town. When the boom ended, Silverton’s population shrank - and currently stands at less than 200, one of BC’s smallest municipalities. In this charming lakeside village, you’ll nd heritage buildings, the Outdoor Mining Museum, a campground, a boat launch, a day park for picnicking, as well as food and accomodations. Across the lake are some remote lakeside campsites in Valhalla Park.

Look for the short trail in town that crosses a foot bridge and brings you down to the lake.

Wakeeld Trail - If you’d rather hike all the way up to Idaho Peak try the Wakeeld Trail. Switchbacking up from the Wakeeld Minesite on Silverton Creek, one is literally walking in the footsteps of the old miners who used this pack trail to get to their mines on Silver Ridge.
