Tips

• Lightly rinse containers

• Leave labels on jars or remove them for recycling

• Separate the different items from a same product (i.e. remove the bag from the cereal box)

• Simply throw items into the blue bin (no sorting)

• Fill a plastic bag with all other plastic bags (i.e. grocery bag, bread bag, Ziploc bags, etc.)

• When in doubt, it is better to put an item into the blue bin because a sorting centre employee will arrange for the final sorting

Tips

• Keep a small bin in the kitchen to collect your food waste and wash it regularly

• You are not obliged to use bags but they do help keep your bins clean and facilitate the handling of waste. If you use bags, choose compostable bags (BNQ certified) or paper bags.

• Keep the bin lid tightly closed to keep intruders out (i.e. flies)

In the garbage bin you will find items that cannot be reused, recycledor composted

Tips• Before throwing it away, ask

yourself if the object is still good enough to be reused.

• Too many recyclable and compostable items make it into the garbage bin. Put your trash can on a diet and use your blue and brown bins to their full potential.
