Welcome to the 2016 American Advertising Awards, The Magic of Advertising, presented by the AAF Fourth District. Our theme for this year’s event reflects the mysterious and magical force our industry channels as we influence and shape trends through powerful creative, evocative copy and innovative media.

The American Advertising Awards is the industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting tens of thousands of entries each year in local AAF Club

competitions. The AAF Fourth District American Advertising Awards is the second level of a three-tiered awards program, and winning an ADDY Award® at the district level is a testament to your creativity. I’m sure we’ll be seeing many of your entries at the national awards show in Anaheim this summer.

Putting together an event of this magnitude requires a tremendous, coordinated effort by many volunteers, members and students. I’d like to thank the incredible group that helped make this year’s event possible:

Given the volume of amazing creative that was submitted, their work was certainly cut out for them as they selected this year’s ADDY® winners.

It has been my pleasure and privilege to serve as the 2015 - 2016 AAF Fourth District Governor, and I’m extremely proud of what our Board has accomplished this past year. I hope this year’s gala has helped reawaken your sense of wonder for our industry and provided inspiration for future work.

JIM CLARK CLARK & COMPANY

Identified as a dreamer, a romantic, and a creative genius by many, Jim holds a passion for technology and for helping others any way he can. He’s also been called “crazy,” “weird,” and even “strange”

by those who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him.

For over 23 years Jim Clark has been a creative director dedicated to seeing his clients succeed. As the agency owner of Clark & Company (juststay.com), Jim provides creative services, marketing planning, and comprehensive and integrated creative solutions. He works with his clients on everything from developing a strategy to concept and execution of traditional and digital media - including business and marketing strategy solutions.

Jim has been honored with many awards including the 1995 AAF Silver Medal Award for Outstanding Advertising Achievement and over 100 ADDYs. He currently serves for the American Advertising Federation - 4th District as Historian and was the founding President of the Emerald Coast Advertising Federation in 1992. He has served as an AAF ADDY Judge all over the United States and is the founder of Ad3 (ad3.org) - a community, philosophy, work ethic, and lifestyle.

He currently lives on the beautiful Emerald Coast with his soon-to-be wife, Mara Rodriguez, and her two children. Jim believes that if you’re not having fun at work, it’s just work.

JC PAGÁN MCGARRYBOWEN

Born in Puerto Rico and with over 20 years of experience, JC Pagán has created and produced work for such brands like the NBA, Payless Shoe Source, Burger King, Procter and Gamble,

Western Union and Showtime among many other brands. His work has achieved numerous awards from respected industry organizations, including FIAP in Buenos Aires, Argentina, an AAF National Addy and a Mosaic Award, Regional ADDYs, Advertising Age, Latin Spots and Adweek. Aside from his work in advertising, in 2012 he received global recognition for his Barack Obama’s Jazz social media project and in 2013 designed several album covers for Grammy award winning Jazz/Hip Hop pianist Robert Glasper and the iconic Blue Note Records.

For the last 7 years, JC has also hosted a Jazz radio show called The Blue Note Hour, showcasing the modern and classic sounds of Jazz record label Blue Note Records.

STANLEY YORKER GLOBALHUE

Stanley Yorker is a creative director with GlobalHue where he is the creative team lead in developing African-American targeted advertising for Walmart. Stanley is a copywriter by training but

during his diverse career he has worn several agency hats including account director. In the process, he has developed a uniquely comprehensive appreciation for creative work that strategically delivers on clients’ objectives. Stanley, a pioneer in infusing Hip-Hop culture in advertising, has brand experience that includes Coca-Cola, Sprite, BMWUSA, Nationwide Insurance, US Bank, McDonald’s, Publix Super Markets and numerous other product and service brands. Stanley is a native of Daytona Beach, Florida and is a 1985 graduate of the University of Florida’s Journalism and Communications School with a bachelors degreein advertising.
