Nurse Becky visited Year 2 just before half-term to talk
about medicines and safety. In one activity the children had
to identify which were sweets and which were not. A very
important lesson was learned. Mr Glanville taught the
children how to find their resting pulse after exercise. The
children really enjoyed this activity and came up with some
really interesting results. A big thank you to both membersof staff from Year 2.

Art Success
Alexander Gooch had one of his paintingsexhibited at the Mall Gallery in London this
weekend. He entered the RSPB Wild Art 2011
competition earlier this year, pupils may
remember Miss May handing out the entry forms.
He painted a Red Kite which was inspired by Mr
Glanville's last Ornithology competition and the
story that Mr J Jones told in assembly about the
Red Kites near his home in Wales. Alexander’s
water colour was awarded commended for his age
group (8-12yrs) by the President of the Society of
Wildlife Artists. It was published in the latest
edition of Bird Life and exhibited in the SWLA

Firework Science
Year 1 spent a fantastic morning with Mr
Glanville in the science laboratory learning about
light and dark. They learnt about how the moon
reflects the sun's light and all about shadows. They
even watched Mr Glanville make some mini
fireworks burning different chemicals over theBunsen burner! A special mention to Erin O'Leary
for her enthusiasm and hard work, well done!

Mrs J Winter-Smith
Reminder
All children in Years 3-8 should have a pair of cross country
shoes or spikes. These must be suitable for mud. The Sweat-
shop in Westbury-on-Trym is selling an excellent range of
shoes and offering anyone connected with TMS a 10% re-
duction. We had a number of children falling this week as itwas the first week of mud and ‘real’ cross country condi-
tions.
