our speaker today Natalie Gonnel-la-Platts, Deputy Director of the Women's Initiative at the George Bush Institute. One of the programs is the First Ladies Institute, which invites First La-dies from around the world to Dallas to discuss ways to empower women in their own coun-tries. She showed a video about several First Ladies talking about their roles in their coun-tries. The Women's Institute sees women as a catalyst for change. They hope to engage communities by developing leaders, advan-cing policy and taking action. A woman's edu-cation and literacy improve the whole family. They want to build robust networks of advo-cates to advance the status of women and children. They also want to build public-private partnerships to enhance communities. They have written a report on their work with First Ladies, “A Role Without a Rule Book: The In-fluence and Leadership of Global First Ladies;” it can be found at http://gwbcenter.imgix.net/ Resources/gwbi-role-without-a-rulebook.pdf. She also mentioned the current exhibit at the Bush Library, “First Ladies: The Style of Influ-ence.” There is a series of podcasts called “Ladies First.” The latest is about Clementine Churchill, but there are others about American First Ladies They can be found at https://www .bush center.org/exhibits-and-events/ exhibits/first-ladies-the-style-of-influence.

THOUGHTS ON . . .

A bully is not reasonable - he is persuaded only by threats.

~ Marie De FranceOne ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.

~ Sir Winston ChurchillInjustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

~ Martin Luther King Jr.Laws do not persuade just be-cause they threaten. ~ SenecaThreats don't work with the person who's got nothing to lose.

~ Maduro AshDesire for security keeps little-ness little and threatens the great with smallness.

FAMILY OF ROTARYThank You from Cathy Bryce

June 6, 2018

Dear Rotary Club of Park Cities,Thank you so much for the wonderful meet-

tng and luncheon at the Communities Foun-dation Building to honor this yearʼs Parade Grand Marshal, Karl Kuby, and the past Grand Marshals.

What a wonderful opportunity to visit with fellow past Grand Marshals, as well as my fel-low Park Cities Rotarians.  I really miss those weekly meetings at Maggianoʼs.

Thanks, too, for the donation you made to the North Texas Food Bank in my honor as the 2009 Grand Marshal. I really appreciate your thoughtful remembrance.

Congratulations on all of the great work that you do to make a positive difference for people all over the world!  Thanks for your leadership and hard work to insure that the Park Cities 4th of July Parade continues. What a great tradition!

Thanks, again! Cathy Bryce

Dear Pam,We very much appreciate the Clubʼs contribution to the Park Cities Rotary Club Foundation in Scottʼs memory.Sam & Nancy MillerJune 21, 2018
