The TÜV Organisations In Germany Are Rooted

In The Idea Of Industry Practising “self-help”

At the end of the 19th century, industrial concerns

joined to form associations to provide quality assurance in the

manufacture and operation of steam boilers.

These so-called "DÜVs" eventually took over activities on behalf of

government in all technical fields.

Through a series of mergers, the numerous small associations in Germany

consolidated to form the present TÜVs.
