LODI UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
MARCH 5, 2013

PROPOSAL FROM MRS. RENHULT
• Restore the Harney Lane Migrant Camp students to the Tokay Colony attendance area.
• Increase staffing at Tokay Colony from 4 teachers to 6 teachers which reduces the number of combination classes ( K/1 only)
• Live Oak enrollment numbers reduce, requiring the displacement of 2 teachers.
• Would reduce the number of combination classes at Live Oak if 4th and 5th grade teachers agree to take a few more than 32 students and the 6th grade teacher has a small class.

ENROLLMENT TRENDS• The incoming enrollment for Tokay Colony students and Harney Lane
Migrant Camp students is declining:
Kindergarten Students
2012-13: 4 – Tokay Colony 4 – Harney Lane
2013-14: 4* – Tokay Colony 6 – Harney Lane
(*9 K’s registered with 5 requesting IDA’s)
• Over time, Tokay Colony will reduce to a very small school with
approximately 10-12 students per grade level, requiring combination
classes. If the migrant students were moved to Tokay Colony, eventually
they will be isolated as a group. During the months the migrant
students leave, the class enrollments will be even smaller.

• Retain the 2nd, 3/4, and 5/6 classes at Tokay Colony for
2013-14.
• Hold a community forum in August 2013 to discuss with the Tokay Colony community the future of the school and review possible new boundaries affecting Live Oak, Lockeford, and/or Victor Schools.
