Students will complete four separate tests in the areas of numeracy, reading, writing & language conventions. The test timetable for the week is as follows: Tuesday 13th MayLanguage Conventions (40 minutesYears 3 & 5) Writing (40 minutesYears 3 & 5) Wednesday 14th May Reading (45 minutes Year 3, 50 minutes Year 5) Thursday 15th May Numeracy (45 minutes Year 3, 50 minutes Year 5) We would be grateful if student absences could be minimised through this period to help ensure that our overall school results are a true and accurate reflection of our total cohorts of students at Years 3 and 5. PARENTS IN THE PLAYGROUND We are so grateful for the wonderful parental assistance we receive every day across so many areas of the school. If you are coming up to assist for an extended period of time we ask that you sign in at the office so that we have an accurate register of all adults on site at any point of time. Please note that teachers and support staff on yard duty are asked to approach any adults in the yard who are not wearing a lanyard (as a result of the school’s signing in process). As you can appreciate, it can be unsettling for students if there are adults present in the yard during recess and lunchtime that they do not know. We appreciate your support on this important safety matter. MOTHER’S DAY REMINDER Our annual Mother’s Day stall will be held on Friday 9th May (tomorrow) for all classes. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to purchase a small treat for mum to help celebrate the special day on Sunday. We recommend that children bring five dollars along for the stall in a clearly marked envelope with their name and class marked on the envelope (a little job for dads tonight!). STUDENT FREE DAY As mentioned in previous newsletters, our third staff training day for this year will be held on Friday 6 th June. Children are not to attend school on this day as teachers will be working collegially to further develop the school’s reporting program. Please note that our final staff training day for 2014 will be on Monday 3 rd November.

ATTITUDES TO SCHOOL SURVEY (ATSS) All students in Years 5 and 6 completed a state wide survey today from the Department of

Education and early Childhood Development (DEECD) called the Attitudes to School Survey. This survey aims to measure students feelings whilst at school, with a particular focus on their wellbeing & safety, their levels of connectedness to their peers/school as well as their engagement with their learning.

In Term 3 we will receive a report from DEECD which will show how students at Tootgarook feel in comparison to all other schools in Victoria. I will share these results in the Newsletter when they become available.

Students will be presented with certificates at Monday morning assembly.
