The Hendon Waterside Development has been controversial due to its proximity to The Welsh Harp reservoir and concerns over its environmental impact. However Barratt Homes have worked with Allies & Morrison Architects to create a development which will eventually provide over 2,000 much needed homes within this North West London community.

The existing housing stock continues to be demolished and the thirty acres of land will be transformed providing homes, parks and local amenities which will eventually adjoin the rejuvenation schemes of nearby Brent Cross and Cricklewood.

Retaining the community spirit within the neighbourhood has been a top priority and whilst there will be plenty of outside space, the decked garden areas allow neighbours to flow out into these communal spaces and children to play within a safe environment. The decking forms a robust yet more child friendly surface adjoining the stone paving both of which are elevated on Kinley adjustable pedestal supports creating a trip free abutment between the two materials.

Product information: Terrafina Excel Yacht Deck finish decking is a solid profile deck board manufactured from wood-polymer composite featuring PEFC certified timber. The Yacht Deck finish incorporates two 4mm grooves that give the board a slatted appearance like that of a traditional ship or yacht decking. The boards can be sawn and drilled with standard tools and feature a hidden fixing system enabling installation in less than half the time of hardwood timber decking. These features make it ideal for terraces, roof gardens, balconies, pool surrounds as well as public realm projects such as restaurant and hotel terraces or promenades.

doubt be considered a ‘stage’ by some of the more extrovert children. The decking boards are crack and splinter free so even those children not up and about can safely crawl or toddle bare footed on the deck and any falls should result in nothing more than a few tears.

The Yacht Deck finish adds a bit more grip to the boards but even without the extra grooves they are still slip resistant even in wet weather.
