Make interactive lesson & content presentation: The teacher can project a content from the teacher’s laptop to the interactive board for presentation or interactive lesson. With external speaker, audio playback is also feasible when the teacher wishes to make a video or multimedia presentation. When the teacher and students are connected on Wi-fi, the teacher can also broadcast the video and students can listen to the audio playback on eBook speakers. eBook are also equipped with speakers, so students can hear what the teacher is saying through online discussion, or listen to audio contained in presentations if they are connected on Wi-fi.

Use whiteboard extensively with touch-screen: The teacher can use the interactive board to write, draw on and make quick notes. With various tools that come with the soft-ware, every need that is necessitated by one’s teaching technique and teaching subject is catered for. For example, the teacher can extract a section from a .pdf file and place it on a separate blank document using the snapshot tool. The teacher can further discuss the extracted section, place notes anywhere and in any style on the new document and save it to local drive; to go through again later or to send the saved notes to students’ eBook.

Interact with students through Wi-fi network: The teacher station is connected to the eBook via a Wi-Fi network, enabling the teacher to push lessons onto the eBook and to interact with the students. A student with a query could simply push a hand up button, and the teacher will see the request from the student. In response, the teacher can start an exclusive chat session with that student; other students may also join in the session if the teacher permits. The teacher can also divide the class into several groups and organize discussion with them. The teacher can speak to one student, to several or to all students that have headphone

Control and manage classrooms from a laptop/PC: Through the teacher control soft-ware, teachers can also make monitor students’ activities. If the teacher finds that most of the children are not paying attention to class lesson or are surfing the Internet, the teacher can freeze all eBook at a single click, as a sign of class silence and also to prevent stu-dents use of laptop during a lesson or an activity. The teacher can also send remote commands to a student to start a program (for example to open an URL through a web browser).

Make quizzes for instant evaluation: The teacher can create and administer an instant quiz for evaluation.

Distribute and collect from students: The teacher can send a file to students’ eBook

via Wifi, and collect files from students.

KEY FEATURES

Broadcast to students' desktop & record screen session: The teacher can also broad-

cast her desktop to other students (facilitating distant tutorial). The teacher can also show a student’s desktop to the class and let them lead the class for a while. The teacher can record all screen changes to playback later and send it to students to re-play on their own.

1 NETBOOK 1 STUDENT The concept of “1 netbook 1

student” learning has been em-

ployed by a number of developed

countries who are seeing the

level in learning. A conducted

study states that computer is an

process to be fun, interactive,

cooperative as well as effective

in imparting linguistic values, technology-savviness and better focus.

Owning an eBook, students feel more possessive and responsible for

their education. They would feel trusted and are reliable to take care of

their own device and learning. This will create their drive to learn not

only when pushed by their teachers. When students are passionate in

learning, classroom processes will be more student-centric. Students

will naturally become more obedient and attentive.

lesson afterwards. New activities now can be run on

their eBooks or participated on the interactive board.

Multimedia activities encourage students to

work in groups, express their knowledge in multiple

ways, solve problems, revise their own work, and con-

struct knowledge. The advantages of integrating multi-

media in the classroom are many. The use of “Kelas

Maya” eliminates the constraints to using multimedia in

the classroom as it provides all facilities needed. Teach-

ers can use videos, audio, powerpoint slides and anima-

tion for presentation conveniently from their teaching

The challenge of today's education system lies in keeping up with fast paced technology and utilizing borderless information. Teachers and students are struggling in their own ways to make learning more engaging and relevant to the world outside the classroom.

Enter "Kelas Maya" , a solution to the problems faced in our standard classrooms. This concept is realized through the integration of several compo-nents on a conventional classroom.

BENEFITS FOR TEACHERS

“Kelas Maya” is the optimal environment for achieving the benefits of technology in education. Learning process are more fun and dynamic where the content delivery is more interactive and engaging. Compared to conventional teaching, the teachers now can use their creativity to present a concept with the accessibility to digital con-tent presentation. This will significantly make the profession more attractive and rewarding.

The teachers will no longer find difficulties to capture the attention of the students even in the worst of situation. Undeniably, this will improve the morale of the teach-ers in this age where children are getting more out of control in terms of discipline and focus in school. Now teachers are no longer constricted to rigid operation, they can find flexibility and be inventive in their profession. As a result, the teaching out-put becomes more self-poured, more refined and of higher quality.

The teaching station that consists of the

interactive white board, the projector and the

teacher’s laptop

“The effectiveness of Virtual Class in increasing students’ performance is

unmistakable. It has eased the process to monitor students’ perform-

ance and issues. Teachers can take action immediately when a student

is showing a hold back in their progress.

Preschool education is the prerequisite of education for children before start-

ing with formal statuary education. At young age, children absorb information

and develop skills very rapidly. A learning methodology that engages their

interest and cultivates different skills is essential to make full use of young

children’s high rate of learning.

TBKids combines visual and hands-on learning styles where children are ex-

posed to dynamic contents and can participate interactively to the very con-

tents’ activities. The elements to TBKids include a Smart Interactive board

and a courseware developed specifically to comply with the Curriculum stan-

dard of preschools by Ministry of Education.

THE COURSEWARE

With the unique approach to tackle the needs of preschool children education, the

courseware is of attractive contents to engage students with many activities.

Through the excitement sparked in

these activities, students will have

more confidence to come up in

front of their peers, to interact with

each other, to ignite team spirit

while learning in an active environ-

ment, guided by trained teachers. In

the process, children use their crea-

tivity to solve problems and gather

information.

The courseware development in-

volves many processes. Careful plan-

ning is undertaken to develop content

and software. The parties involved are preschool teachers that also act Sub-

ject-Matter-Expert to advise and design the content according to the Standard

curriculum of Malaysian Ministry of Education and international standard of

preschool curriculum . The conventional way of courseware development

usually is to replace the role of teacher, but in the case of TBKids, it is to en-

hance the teacher’s task. In fact, the teacher is the key in the process of

TBKids in classroom.

The result is a fun and active environment where learning is optimized for

young children with the help of the teachers.

A panel of teachers are assigned to mark and evaluate these essay type answers and students will receive feedback. 3. Convenient evaluation. Students’ scores and time elapses records are tabulated in a stately manner for immediate evaluation on teacher’s interface. Data are available for viewing for school admin, PPD or JPN to determine students and schools’ performance and status. Data can be collected without hassle to evaluate per subject or per stu-dent performance and from the result, necessary action can be taken. 4. Prompt answer scheme display. Spares the students some time when students want to check their answer and effectively can “learn from mistake”. 5. Answer time. Students can check how long they take and create a sense of urgency to simu-late real examination experience. 6. Portability Students can work anytime and anywhere wherever there is Internet access.* 7. Standardize questions for all students Equal opportunity for students located in different areas and from different socio-economic background. 8. File sharing Students and teachers can upload and download notes from each other. 9. Communication Forums, chatrooms and private messaging features that let student interact with each other in one place. 10. Synchronized examination When the system is used on large scale, examination across state or nation can be executed precisely at the same time. Less hassle and lead time in distributing the questions and less risk of exam leaks. And easier monitoring of the examina-tion progress. Hence, more accurate exam results. Note *: For schools with no or unstable internet access, the T-score contents can be stored in the school’s server for local access.
