Preamble

Presently we have Prof. H. I. Patel, An Adjunct

Professor, Department of Biostatistics and

Epidemiology, Georgia Regions University, Augusta,

Georgia – USA as a ‘visiting professor’ in our

department, having more than 48 years of Teaching,

Research and Clinical experiences including New

York Medical College & other research institutes.

Keeping the expertise and research designing and

analyzing pharmaco – economic and pharmaco –

epidemiology studies, the department has decided to

organize “two days International Workshop” on “Bio-

epidemic Modeling & Analysis in Pharmaceuticals”.

Objectives of the Workshop

To increase the awareness of the usefulness of

Biostatistics in such fields as Biology,

Biotechnology, Pharmacokinetics and Medicine.

To help initiate a meaningful dialog among the

health professionals working in the academia,

Government and drug industry and promote the

collaborative research and education to help

increase the health conscientiousness in public.

One of the objectives of this multi-disciplinary

symposium is to provide a setting through which

the participants mutually recognize and respect

their expertise.

To make the Medical Colleges, especially in

Gujarat, aware of the importance of having a

Biostatistics department to teach Biostatistics to

medical students and provide consulting service to

the researchers in medicine and related fields.

To facilitate the local Mathematics students to

explore the possibility of pursuing a higher degree

education in Biostatistics.

About the Department

The Department of Mathematics is the pioneering

department of Hemchandracharya North Gujarat

University, Patan since June-1993. Department offers

Postgraduate Program in the subject of Mathematics

together with Ph. D program in the area of

Mathematical Modeling. We focus on quality

education, Innovative Research and carry out all

academic activities in order to realize the Vision and

Mission of the University.

About the University

Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University was

established at Patan on 17-05-1986. The University

campus is spread over an area of 227 acres. The

university currently has 19 postgraduate and 3

Undergraduate programs, more than 350 affiliated

Collages and more than 1,50,000 students. The

university is recently Accredited

by NAAC with A - Grade (CGPA3.02)

About Patan

Patan is a land of Hemchandracharya, a great thinker

who made valuable contribution to the studies in

grammar, literature, religion and philosophy. The

“World Heritage Rani Ni Vav”, a great architectural

sculptural International monument of ancient times,

the lake of Shahastralinga located on the banks of

Saraswati River, Siddhi Sarovar, and the Jain temples

of Panchasara having Gyan Bhandara are situated in

the town of Patan. The famous Modhera “Surya

Mandir” and “Rudra Mahal” is just 30 km, away from

Patan.
