possession near midfield. But the Argos offence again struggled to find a rhythm, forced to punt it away for the sixth time. Collaros eclipsed 300-yards passing on the ensuing Ticats drive, as Medlock kicked home a 48-yard field goal to extend Hamilton’s lead. Toronto’s offence showed signs of life after the following kickoff, marching down the field on a series of short completions from Harris. After the drive stalled in the red zone, Waters missed a chip shot and Hamilton return man Brandon Banks brought the ball out of the end zone to prevent the single. The ugliness began following the punt return, with the Tiger-Cats tak-ing three unnecessary roughness penalties, pushing them back to their own three-yard line. After a first down pass, Argos DL Cleyon Laing stripped Collaros of the ball and Hamilton native Daryl Waud fell on the ball for his first career fumble recovery. Following the recovery, Toronto’s offence was in three-down mode, not willing to settle for three. After taking a sack, Harris completed passes to RB Brandon Whitaker and Vidal Hazelton on third down before finding Kevin Elliott in the end zone for Toronto’s first major of the game. Collaros then hit SB Anthony Coombs on a bit of misdirec-tion on the two-point conversion, cutting into Hamilton’s lead. The third quarter ended with the Tiger-Cats still holding on to a three-touchdown advantage, 30-9. After another stop from Toronto’s second-half defence, Harris took over once again and immediately found WR Tori Gurley streaking down the field for a 39-yard completion. After a couple of nice catch-and-runs from Coombs, the Argos were forced to kick a field goal, and Swayze Waters nailed the 43-yarder to bring the score to 30-12. Late in the fourth quarter with the game out of hand, Collaros and the Tiger-Cats salted the wound, as Sinkfield scored his second touch-down of the game on a short out route, and QB Jeff Mathews found paydirt on a one-yard plunge a drive later. In the end, a poor first half doomed to the Argonauts and despite out-scoring Hamilton in the final two quarters, it was too little too late. The Argonauts conceded the Labour Day Classic and the Ballard Trophy 42-12, moving to 6-4 on the season. LB Greg Jones once again led the Argonauts defence with seven de-fensive tackles, while Tristan Okpalaugo tallied his team-leading sixth sack of 2015. Harris finished the night 24 of 34 passing, with one touchdown and one interception.

TORONTO - The Argonauts headed to Hamilton on Monday, facing off against the rival Tiger-Cats in the 45th Labour Day Classic at Tim Hortons Field. The temperature on the field soared to over 30 de-grees Celsius in the afternoon sun, reflective of the heat and animos-ity between the two arch-rivals. Unfortunately for the Double Blue, it was the Ticats who took this one and the Ballard Trophy in the proc-

ess, as the Argonauts fell by a score of 42-12. The Argonauts received the ball to start, and despite a stalled drive after one first down, K/P Swayze Waters booted a monster punt 82 yards through the end zone to give Toronto the rouge and an early lead. The Tiger-Cats came out with guns blazing on their first drive, as QB Zach Collaros completed consecutive passes to WRs Terrell Sink-field and Luke Tasker to bring Hamilton into the red zone. A couple of Argos penalties shortened the field even further, and Collaros found WR Terence Toliver for a 12-yard score, giving Hamilton a 7-1 lead. Another short drive for the Argos ended in a punt, and the Ticats took over once again. After being backed up in the shadow of their goalposts, Collaros found former Argo Terrell Sinkfield streaking down the right side of the field for a 48-yard completion on second down. The Argos defence stiffened with Collaros and the ‘Cats knocking at the door, forcing Hamilton to settle for a 16-yard field goal. The first quarter ended with the Tiger-Cats on top 10-1. A blocked punt on the ensuing Argonauts drive gave the Tiger-Cats prime field position, and Collaros was sure to capitalize. A few plays later, he found WR Tiquan Underwood for the touchdown, extending Hamilton’s lead to 17-1. The next drive didn’t see the Argos offence fare much better, as a pass attempt on first down tipped of the hands of WR Vidal Hazelton and into the waiting arms of Ticats DB Courtney Stephen. Toronto’s defence conceded yards but buckled down in the red zone, holding Hamilton to a field goal. The first-half woes continued for Toronto on the next Tiger-Cats drive, as Collaros continued his hot play. The former Argos QB com-pleted four straight passes before finding a wide-open Sinkfield for his second touchdown of the game. The score put the Argos in a deep hole, trailing 27-1 at halftime. Toronto’s defence forced a two-and-out to begin the second half, and a pair of Tiger-Cats penalties on the punt return gave the Argos

Before we know it, CFL die hard fans from all over will be freezing their tails off at the 103rd Grey Cup game in Winnipeg (where cars need to be plugged in to ensure they start), while the rest of us will watch the game from the comforts of our own couches or local pubs.

Send us your party details by the end of day Monday, November 9th and we will send out where the parties are around North America so y’all can get together and trash talk, remember the good ol days and call plays like a coach from your laz-y-boy.

1. The Annis Stukus Torphy has recognized excellence in coaching since 1961 when Hamilton’s Jim Trimble First won the award. The Edmonton Eskimos Alumni Association presented a trophy in honour of the Eskimos first coach, the legendary Annis Stukus. Winners are selected by Members of the Football Reporters of Canada. Stukus played with the Argos from 1935 – 41, along with his brothers Bill and Frank, helping the Boatmen to Grey Cup victories in 1937 & 1938 and played 12 years in the CFL excelling at 6 different positions. In 1949 Stukus transitioned to coaching becoming the Eskimos first Head Coach and General Manager in 1949.

2. The John Candy Memorial Award is given out every year to the Toronto Argonauts player of the year as voted on by the Football Reporters of Canada. Formerly known as the Toronto Argonauts Player of the Year Award, this honour was renamed in the memory of former club owner John Candy following his passing in 1994. Darrell “Mookie” Mitchell won this award three times in 1998, 2000 & 2002. For a complete list of all recipients: http://argonauts.ca/page/john-candy-memorial-award-winners

3. There were too many injuries to the members during the competitive rowing season i 1879 forcing the Argonaut Football Club to cease operation for the year. 4. In 1971, Condredge Holloway was drafted in the first round 4th pick by the Expos as shortstop. Hollo-way’s mother insisted Holloway attend College and refused to allow her son to sign the baseball contract. Condredge became the first African-American to start at the QB position at Tennessee and in a South-eastern Conference school. Condredge was also the first black baseball player in UT history. After leading the Volunteers to three bowl game appearances from 1972-74, Holloway was drafted by the NFL in 1975 as a DB by the Patriots. Instead Holloway came to the CFL, playing for the Ottawa Rough Riders starting in 1975. Later, he moved to the Toronto Argonauts, capturing the FL’s Most Outstanding Player award in 1982 and guided the Argos to a Grey Cup Championship in 1983, Toronto’s first title in 31 years.

The Association is continuing its partnership with Turning Point Youth Services, a Toronto-based, ac-credited children's mental health centre that provides a wide range of programs and services to youth aged 12 - 24 and their families. For decades, the Toronto Argonauts Football Club and its players have impacted the commu-nity through the club's long-standing programs to promote youth wellness. As former players who have transitioned into retirement from the game, we are continuing our commitment to the local Toronto community through a partnership between the Association and Turning Point Youth. Turning Point will be hosting Youth Engagement an event for the youth in the program. at Turning Point head office at 95 Wellesley St East September 15, 2015 from 4:30p – 6:30p. We are looking for alumni that are interested in attending the event to share stories with the youth, have some fun and help-out a bit. If you are interested and want to know more now, please contact Crista email: [email protected]

But this is an extraordinary circumstance and TD Place Stadium is available, CFL-ready and broad-cast-ready. The Ottawa RedBlacks organization has been very accommodating and understanding and we are thankful to them for making this a viable option.” Rudge continued, “While this scenario certainly of-fers some challenges to our team, I would like eve-ryone to know that we are excited for the run the Blue Jays have made to date and we wish them best of luck down the stretch and, hopefully, into the post-season.” Fans who have purchased tickets to the October 6 game will be contacted by a Toronto Argonauts ticket representative in the near future.

The Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced today that their home game, originally scheduled to be played at Rogers Centre on Tuesday, Octo-ber 6 at 7:30 p.m. ET against the Ottawa RED-BLACKS, will be moved to TD Place Stadium in Ottawa, ON. “We have been aware for some time that Rogers Centre might not be available to our team during the month of October should the Toronto Blue Jays make it into the MLB post-season,” said Toronto Argonauts Executive Chairman & CEO, Chris Rudge. “Due to the tremendous success the Blue Jays have experienced this season, Rogers Centre officials informed us in writing several weeks ago to begin seeking out alternative locations for some of our October home games. We targeted the Oc-tober 6

th game to start and it has been a priority for

us to communicate our plans early so that our fans and stakeholders can prepare. As an organization, our preference is not to have our team play back-to-back games in Ottawa.

THE BROTHERHOOD REMAINING STRONGTHE BROTHERHOOD REMAINING STRONG

There have been several tragedies in the football and sports communities over the years, from murder, suicide,

substance abuse and gambling to name a few. Most recently the TiCats announced former QB Cody Ledbetter

took his own life after suffering through many of his own legal and personal challenges.

We are asking for Alumni to get in touch with us that have battled / continue to battle with depression or another

mental illness, have been in prison, or had run-in with the law, battle or continue to battle with substance abuse,

gone through a divorce, faced bankruptcy or any other challenge and be willing to encourage a fellow Argonaut

brother through his tough time. You are all spread out all over North America but you share a bond. As an or-

ganization we hear of your struggles as well as your victories and we want to be able to connect you to the right

team member because you are not alone. We will not share your information with anyone and prior to connect-

ing you with someone we will always ask you first if you are able to speak with another Alumni as it may not be

the right time for you. Please email Crista privately and let her know how you can help or be of help to another.

We thank you for your consideration on such a sensitive topic.
