THE MONSTER WINS AGAIN AT MSG On December 5, Jonas Gustavsson became only the fifth Toronto goaltender to win two games in one season at the current MadisonSquare Garden (which opened in February 1968) when the Maple Leafs posted a 4-2 win over the Rangers. The Leafs also defeatedthe Rangers 4-2 in New York earlier this season on October 27. Gustavsson joined Bruce Gamble (1969-70), Wayne Thomas (1975-76), Corey Schwab (2001-02) and Vesa Toskala (2007-08). The two road wins for the Leafs marked the Rangers first two regulation losses at home this season. It was the first time in 40 yearsthat one team handed the Rangers their first two home losses of a season. The last time it happened was 1971-72 at the hands of theBoston Bruins. LUPUL NAMED NHL'S THIRD STAR OF THE MONTH Joffrey Lupul was named the NHL's third star for the month of November. Lupul led all NHL scorers with 19 points (7 goals, 12 assists)in 14 games, including his first Maple Leafs hat trick on November 12 at New Jersey and a four-point (1 goal, 3 assists) performance onNov. 19 vs. Washington. Alain Vigneault, 50, is the 16th Head Coach in franchise history. After being named to the position on June 20, 2006, he has led the Canucks toa Northwest Division title and postseason berth four times in five seasons with the club and won the Jack Adams Award as NHL Coach of theYear in 2007.
