JOURNEY THROUGWITH BISHOP SCOTT JONES & THE GREAT January 28 & 29 - USA to the Holy Land Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA on an overnight flight. You will bewelcomed to the Holy Land by our airport representative and transfer to your hotelin Bethlehem where you will enjoy dinner before resting.

January 30 - Herodion & BethlehemThis morning visit the Herodion, the fortified palace and final resting place of Herodthe Great. In Bethlehem visit the cave where Jesus was born and the church thathas been constructed on the site (Matthew 1: 18-25; Luke 2: 1-7). Nearby, you willview Shepherds’ Field where the Good News was first heard. Visit BethlehemBible College, see the work of this Christian institution, and understand the trials oftoday's Palestinian Christian population. Return to your hotel in Bethlehem for dinnerand overnight.

January 31 - Judean WildernessDeparting Bethlehem for the Wilderness of Judea. Travel the road from Jerusalemto Jericho which twists for miles as it weaves through the Judean mountains anddescends below sea level. Jesus traveled the nearby Roman road, the setting ofHis parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10: 30-36). Stop and see St. George'sMonastery. This sixth century complex was carved in to the side of a cliff, and isstill inhabited by Greek Orthodox monks. Next visit the immersion site at Qasr ElYehud, the traditional site of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist (John 1). Visitthe ruins of ancient Jericho, which was conquered by Joshua (Josh. 6: 1, 2, 20).From Jericho, you can see the traditional site of the Temptation of Jesus (Matt. 4: 1-11). Visit Qumran, site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery, to discuss the mysteriouscommunity of Essenes who once lived on the shores of the Dead Sea. Return toyour hotel in Bethlehem for dinner and overnight.

February 1 - Northern IsraelTravel north to Tel Dan, see the mud brick arch constructed in pre-Israelite(Canaanites) times and where The House of David fragment-from the First TemplePeriod-was discovered. Visit Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus traveled with Hisdisciples and where nearby Peter made his great confession to Jesus, “Thou art theChrist, the Son of the living God” (Matt. 16: 16). Continue on to Mount Hermon,probably the site of the Lord’s Transfiguration (Matt. 17: 1-9). Travel on through thestrategic tableland known as the Golan Heights. Spend the night in Tiberias.

February 2 - Sea of GalileeThis morning, at Kibbutz Nof Ginnosar, you’ll learn about the “Ancient Boat”, a rareexample of the kind of boat in which Jesus would have sailed. Next you will prayand sing hymns as you cross the waters of the Sea of Galilee by boat. Travel toCapernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry. Visit the synagogue on the site whereJesus taught (Matt.4:13, 23). At the Mount of Beatitudes read the sermon on themount (Matt. 5-7). Visit the Church of the Fish and the Loaves, at Tabgha, thetraditional location for the feeding of the 5000 (Luke 9:10-17). Visit the Chapel ofthe Primacy where Peter professed his devotion to the risen Christ (John 21).Spend the night in Tiberias.

February 3 - Cana, Nazareth, Jacob's Well, Mt. Ebal & Mt. GerizimTravel to Cana where you will stop to remember the wedding feast and the firstmiracle of Jesus. We'll visit Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus (Matthew 2: 23)

February 4 - JerusalemOn Mount Zion view the site of King David’s Tomb. Stand inthe Upper Room, revered as the site of the Last Supper (Mark14: 12-26). Visit the Abbey of the Dormition, the traditional siteof Mary's home and burial in Jerusalem. Wander the excavationsof the City of David. Walk the steps to the Pool of Siloam,recently uncovered at the foot of the City. Walk through some ofthe ancient rooms of Caiaphas' the High Priest's housebeneath the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Here, it isbelieved by many, Jesus was held overnight before Hiscrucifixion (Luke 22). Continue to Ein Karem, traditionally knownas the birthplace of John the Baptist, and where tradition holdsthat Mary journeyed to share with Elisabeth her good news(Luke 1: 39-48). Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

February 5 - JerusalemVisit Bethany, the home of Lazarus, Mary and Martha. HereJesus visited on several occasions, and raised Lazarus from thedead (John 11). Stand atop the Mount of Olives as Jesus didand enjoy a remarkable view of the "Golden City" of Jerusalem.Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heavenfrom the Mount of Olives (Acts 1: 9 - 12). Walk the Palm SundayRoad, down the Mt. of Olives.and visit the Church of AllNations. Pray in the Garden of Gethsemane amongst olivetrees in the Kidron Valley across from the walls of Jerusalem.Visit the Davidson Center and the Southern Wall Excavationsincluding the Teaching Steps and the Western Wall. Return toyour hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

February 6 - JerusalemView the Pool of Bethesda (John 5: 1-31) where Jesusperformed the Sabbath miracle. Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortresswhere Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate (Luke 23: 1-11).Walk the Via Dolorosa, the “Way of the Cross,” and stand inreverence at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Visit theGarden Tomb, the possible site of the garden of Joseph ofArimathea, and experience the reality of the Resurrection.
