Kindly respond to the Julie Hayes at 693-9708 or send an email reply to [email protected] Marvin Owings and Gary Heisey Retire The Henderson County Tourism Development Authority would like the thank former Directors of the Cooperative Extension Service, Marvin Owings and Gary Heisey, of the Small Business Center at Blue Ridge Community College for many years of working with them on multiple projects. Gary retired on February 28 and Marvin on March 1. We wish Marvin and Gary well on their new endeavors! The Henderson County Cooperative Extension Service has appointed John Vining as the Interim Director. Mr. Vining brings over 30 years of experience with the Cooperative Extension Service and is the former Polk County Extension Director. Ben Kish has been named as the new Small Business Director. Mr. Kish has been with BRCC since 2012 as the Director of Workforce Development and Personal Enrichment. The TDA looks forward to working with Ben on many projects, including the Henderson County Tourism Conference. U. S. Forest Service Campgrounds Opening for the Season Several U.S. Forest Service campgrounds in North Carolina are now open or will open later this month. A few additional facilities will open later this spring but many other sites are open year round. In some cases, campsites can be reserved in advance at http://www.recreation.gov and fees vary from site to site. Details are available at https://www.fs.usda.gov/activity/nfsnc/recreation/camping-cabins Holders of the Interagency Senior and Access, Golden Age and Access Pass receive a fifty percent discount on their camping fee for single family campsites. The discount does not include fees for hookups, such as sewer or electrical, nor does it include double or larger campsites.
