Towards a Healthier and Happier Future with Vaccinations for Children Vaccinations for children are an essential health safeguard against a number of illnesses like polio, flu, rubella and measles. Child vaccination, like all other vaccinations, is based on the core principle of inducing the body to prepare anti-bodies by exposing it to very diluted and weakened microbes of an illness. Upon the introduction of such microbes into the body, the immune system gets very active and starts producing anti-bodies to resist and destroy these microbes, thus effectively getting equipped to counter any stronger threat of the same illness. Governments all over the world have devised various child vaccination programs to counter the threat from different infections; these child vaccinations have significantly contributed to the elimination and containment of many illnesses e.g., smallpox, tuberculosis, malaria, measles, yellow fever, and polio. An interesting aspect of vaccination is about the way it reduces illness even among unvaccinated children. By breaking the link with which diseases spread, vaccination slows down and contains the spread of a disease.
