Mrs. Resek’s class was very excited to have the chance to build tower gardens that will help produce healthy, fresh food for our school cafeteria!

Our first job was to unpack the boxes that had been delivered to our classroom.

Next, we learned about the Tower Garden and its history.

Finally, it was time to start building the Tower Gardens!

Each gap in the tower will hold a plant once the seeds sprout. We had to get the gaps set up with planting “baskets.”

We started lettuce, swiss chard, and basil seeds. We put them in a substance that will promote germination (or sprouting).

The seeds should sprout in 7 – 10 days. At that point, we’ll be able to move them from these trays to the tower garden! Already, a few lettuce seeds have sprouted!

The process of growing plants in an air or mist environment without the use of soil.

• Safe and ecologically friendly

• Grows stronger and healthier plants

• Grows faster because exposed to more CO2

• Higher yield in less space
