A MESSAGE FROM YOUR TOWN SUPERVISOR ThxymxwSctwi&uler In 1991 as a ninth-grade student, relocated from Michigan to the Town of Pembroke due to my father's job transfer, I never imagined taking on the role of Town Supervisor. At that point in my life I was the new kid trying to fit in to a new school. I came from a City School with 400 students in my graduating class to Pembroke with 82 students in my class. The biggest takeaway from my first week was how inviting Pembroke was to newcomers. Staff, students and community members made my family and I feel like welcome additions to the community. Almost 30-years later, the Town of Pembroke is still that welcoming community today. ! I've been involved in the Town of Pembroke for almost 20-years now. I started on the Zoning Board of Appeals, then served on the Planning Board and served as one of the Zoning Officers. I've witnessed a lot of development in our town during this timeframe. The Yancey's Fancy expansion, Buffalo East Tech Park, Dollar General, Tim Horton's and water and sewer infrastructure expansions to name a few. A Town Park that the Community has embraced and sees a vast amount of use in the Spring, Summer and Fall months also has potential for Winter activities as well. Past Supervisor's and Town Boards have made great strides in cutting unnecessary expenses to allow Town opera- tions to continue running without the need for a Town Tax. My hope is we can continue this trend while still growing the Town in a fiscally responsible manner. This may not be easily accomplished and not without challenges. I ask for your support while we face these challenges together. I believe Pembroke will see continued business growth. We have expanded sewer capacity being put in place now, that will allow for further development in Interchange District and the Western New York Veterans Cemetery has started construction. These future developments could bring more people to our area, some of whom may decide to put down roots here. I ask that we all be as welcoming to them as this Town was to me and my family 29-years ago. I look forward to continued service to the Town of Pembroke and the great things to come. A MESSAGE FROM YOUR TOWN SUPERVISORThxymxwSctwi&uler

In 1991 as a ninth-grade student, relocated from Michigan to the Town of Pembroke due to my father's job transfer, I never imagined taking on the role of Town Supervisor.

Past Supervisor's and Town Boards have made great strides in cutting unnecessary expenses to allow Town operations to continue running without the need for a Town Tax.

TOWN COUNCILTown of Pembroke

From the desk of Councilman Thomas DixWe are currently, and have been, working on a long list of projects.

We are working with our engineers and Genesee County to get public water to the northern portion of the Town or Pembroke and are in the preliminary stages of planning to rebuild our Highway garage, as it is becoming apparent that the building is reaching the end of its service life and is starting to have significant maintenance costs year over year.

With the increased pressure from the Federal Government to lower emissions in diesel vehicles, gasoline usage is on the rise, making it difficult for our current fueling station to have adequate capacity to meet these rising needs, so we are looking into upgrading the system through a few different options to handle this change in usage.

A stone barrier was installed at the East Pembroke Cemetery, on Route 5, to protect and preserve the graves that are on-site from being run over or parked on.

There are also several projects planned to improve our Town Park, such as dug outs for the softball fields, and bathroom facilities.

If you’re someone that enjoys our town park for outdoor recreation, Genesee County also has a recreational program that covers many outdoor activities, such as bird watching, nature trail walks, and camping, to name a few. For more information visit their website: http://www.co.genesee.ny.us/departments/parks/

Getting these projects done takes a very long time due to the large number of moving parts and the many hands involved, waiting on grant funds from New York State is a slow process, please be patient as we are just as eager as you are to see these projects get completed.

We greatly appreciate the fine job that the Highway Department does in keeping all the roads in the Town clear during the winter.

Every topic that is discussed and every decision that is made is carefully considered to ensure that it will be the best decision for the Town of Pembroke and its residence. If anyone has ideas or concerns that they feel should be heard but are not interested in publicly speaking (or you simply can’t make it to the meetings), send those ideas to any of our email addresses at this page: http://townofpembroke.org/town-board/ and someone will get back to you.

Thanks for your continued support, Thomas Dix

Beware of deed scamGenesee County Clerk, Michael T. Cianfrini advises property owners to beware of a spreading deed copy scam. Property owners may receive a mail or e-mail solicitation offering to do the research and secure a certified copy of the deed to their real estate for a fee of $50 to $60. One of the companies offering to do this is "New York Retrieval, Inc." You can obtain that same certified copy from the County Clerk’s Office for $5 to $10 depending upon the length of the deed. If you desire just a plain (uncertified copy) the fee will be between $2 and $5. If you receive a solicitation such as this either notify the County Clerk or just discard it. If you would like a copy of your deed, you can write, call or stop by the County Clerk’s Office. It only takes a few minutes to obtain the copy.

Ptflppy Spring!!

Highway Department Stephen Stocking,

Superintendent of Highways

We’ve had a lighter that average winter so far and the salt barn is still about 1/4 full.Tax Collection went great thanks to the residents of

Pembroke. It is tough to swallow but you made the season smooth with you positive attitudes!

The Town Supervisor and I are currently looking into online payments for a multitude of town business and hope to have more information to you soon.

This summer, we will pave the North end of North Pembroke Road. It was necessary to split this into a two-year project due to the cost.

The last week of April and the first week of May, we will conduct brush pickup for Town residents. This will be a ONE TIME around pickup - Weather permitting, which will push back the dates in May.

Spring is the time many are thinking of marriage

For a Marriage License:Please call the town clerk for an appointment.

We are also looking forward to working with the other Towns, the Village of Corfu and the County again this year.

Appointments are taken from 8:30am to 3:30pm M-F. Other arrangements can be made by calling the Town Clerk.

* Licenses can be issued no less than 24 hours before the ceremony

* No more than 60 days ahead of the ceremony* Need to bring picture ID (Drivers License)* Social Security Number* Divorce papers with granted seal (if applicable)* $40.00 Charge* Know both parents full names & birthplace* If you receive your license in New York State, you

must be married in New York State.* You can go to any town hall to get a marriage

license.

Also, for safety reasons, it is very important for all Town residents to have their house numbers visible from the road. The Fire Departments and other emergency workers greatly appreciate those residents who have already installed visible street numbers.

Have a safe and warm summer season and we will be back in the fall for another update.

Town of Pembroke Highway Superintendent Phone 585-762-411 1

It’s Important to remember in which town you received your marriage license. It is Filed at that location. If you ever need a copy you will have to go back to the town you originally obtained it from, (many people remember the wedding location, but not where they applied for their marriage license.)

Have a Great Summer!

ASSESSOR’S OFFICEAte&wyr

Dear Property Owner:I would just like to take a moment to introduce myself, my name is Tina McQuillen, and I am the new

Assessor for the Town of Pembroke. Debbie Conti has retired from the Town of Pembroke as of the middle of July after many years of service. I am in the Pembroke office on Fridays from 9-12 and 1-4:00, however you may reach me on my cell phone Monday-Saturday at 585-356-2150.1 will respond to either phone calls or text messages whichever you find more convenient.

Just to give you a little background, I have been in the assessment field since January of 2010,1 currently hold the position of Assessor in six municipalities, 4 in Wyoming County, 1 in Erie and of course the Town of Pembroke.I also spent about 7 years working for a town in Wayne County. I very much enjoy what I do and I think of myself as a fair and reasonable person. I look forward to working with all of you at some point in the future.

The Town of Pembroke is also conducting a town-wide reassessment project for the 2020 assessment roll. Change of assessment notices will be mailed mid- March and informal hearings will be held on Fridays during normal business hours until the end of April. Included with the change of assessment notice will be an informational sheet with options on what to do if you disagree with the new assessment and how to challenge it.

Respectfully,Tina M. McQuillen, SCA

Building and Codes Administration Jim Wolbert

A Letter from the Building and Codes Office:

First I would like to introduce myself, I am Jim Wolbert. I joined this office in December in order to start training with Tom Schneider before he moved up to the Town Supervisor’s Office. I have lived in this community for over thirty years and I am happy and proud to call it home. My background for the last 3+ decades include working with all types of people in an educational setting while also working in both residential and commercial construction along with a bit of residential design.

Our office looks forward to working with you on your home improvements and building projects.

We also want to remind you that things like unregistered cars, barking dogs, uncut lawns, falling down fences and buildings while on your property still affect your neighbors and our community.

The Zoning & Codes Department would like to remind citizens about the requirement in the NYS Fire Code that calls for proper Premises Identification on all lots with structures in the Town. Address numbers shall be not less than 4-inches, visible from the road and contrast with their background. Premises Identification is allowed to be placed on or near the mailbox providing it meets the above requirements.

The Town’s website, www.townofpembroke.org, now contains updated forms and applications under the Zoning & Codes tab.
