TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE ACCEPTANCE: Orders or other requests, whether oral or written, for Blowout Preventers or the sale of Accumulators, Spare Parts or Services to be provided by TOWNSEND INTERNATIONAL BOPS to it's customers (each a "Buyer") are subject to TOWNSEND's written acceptance by an authorized TOWNSEND representative and any orders so accepted will be governed by (i) the terms and conditions stated in these TERMS & CONDITIONS for provision of Blowout Prevernters, Accumulators, Parts or Services (TERMS & CONDITIONS), (ii) the written proposal submitted by TOWNSEND to Buyer (Proposal), if any, (iii) the written order acknowledgment issued by TOWNSEND to Buyer (Acknowledgment), if any (iv) any change orders identified as such and agreed to in writing by TOWNSEND (the Order, Terms & Conditions, Proposal, Acknowledgment, and any such change order, and any such additional terms as agreed to in writing by an authorized TOWNSEND representative collectively referred to herein as "Agreement". Buyer's submission of a purchase order (0r other similar document) shall be deemed to be an express acceptance of these Terms and Conditions notwithstanding language in Buyer's Purchase Order (or other similar document) inconsistent herewith, and any inconsistent language in Buyer's purchase order (or similar document) is hereby rejected. Buyer's purchase order (or other similar document is incorporated in this Agreement, only to the extent of specifying the nature and description of the Equipment, Parts or Services and then only to the extent consistent with the Proposal or Acknowledgment. In the event of any conflict between a Proposal and an Acknowledgment, the Acknowledgment shall prevail. PRICES: Blowout Preventers, Accumulators, Spare Parts or Services shall be as stated in the Proposal or Acknowledgment, or if there is no Proposal or Acknowledgement, as otherwise agreed to in writing by TOWNSEND. All price quotations are Ex-works TOWNSEND's factory or distribution point or as agreed per quote and are subject to change without notice. All sales, use, import, excise or like taxes, whether foreign or domestic, shall be charged to or borne by Buyer. TOWNSEND bears no responsibility for any consular fees for legalizing invoices, certificates, certificates of origin, stamping bills of ladings, or other charges required by the laws of any country of destination, or any fines imposed due to incorrect declarations. Charges will be added for factory preparation and packaging for shipment. Minimum freight and invoice charges apply, as in effect at the time of order. If by any reason of any act of government, the cost to TOWNSEND of performing it's obligations hereunder is increased, such increase shall be added to the quoted price. PAYMENT TERMS: Unless alternate payment terms are specified or approved by TOWNSEND'"s Credit Department, all charges, including applicable packing and transportation cost, billed by TOWNSEND are payable within NET 30 DAYS OF DATE OF INVOICE. TOWNSEND reserves the right to modify or withdraw credit terms at any time without notice. Unless otherwise specified all payments are due in the currency specified in TOWNSEND's Proposal, Acknowledgment and/or Invoice. Interest shall be due from Buyer to TOWNSEND on over due accounts at the maximum rate allowed by law. When partial shipments are made, the goods will be invoiced as shipped and each month's invoice will be treated as a separate account and be payable accordingly. Payment for goods is due whether or not technical documentation and/or any third party certifications are complete at the time of shipment. TOWNSEND shall be entitled to recover all reasonable attorney's fees and other costs incurred in the collection of overdue accounts. TOWNSEND reserves the right where genuine doubts arise as to Buyer's financial position or if Buyer is in default of any payment, to suspend delivery or performance of any order or any part thereof without liability or without prejudice to and without limitation of any other remedy until Buyer cures the default and payment or satisfactory security for payment has been provided. TOWNSEND shall have the option to extend the delivery date by a time at least equal to the period of suspension. DELIVERY: Where goods are to be supplied from stock, such supply is subject to availability of stocks at the date of delivery. Partial shipments may be made as agreed by Buyer and Seller. Stated delivery dates are approximate only and cannot be guaranteed. TOWNSEND shall have no liability for damages arising out of the failure to keep a projected delivery date, irrespective of the length of the delay. In the event Buyer is unable to accept delivery fo goods when tendered, TOWNSEND may, at it's option, arrange storage of the goods and Buyer shall be liable to TOWNSEND for the reasonable cost of such storage. This provision is without prejudice to any other rights, which TOWNSEND may have with respect to Buyer's failure to take delivery of goods, which includes the right to invoice Buyer for the goods. Buyer agrees that title of the goods will transfer to Buyer upon invoicing notwithstanding Buyer's inability to accept delivery and that Buyer assumes all risk of loss or damage to the goods from the date title passes to Buyer. Delivery of goods shall be F.O.B. Sellers plant in Odessa, Texas except as otherwise agreed. Every effort shall be made to meet promised delivery date; but, in no event, shall Seller be liable for consequential damages, claims or rental of substitute equipment arising from delay in delivery. Seller is expressly relieved of liability for failure or delay in delivery due to Acts of God, governmental priorities, labor or material shortages beyond its control or machinery failure and is given such additional time as is reasonably necessary to complete its obligation under this agreement. DELIVERY DATE CONTINGENCIES: Commitment dates for shipping are based upon timely receipt of Purchaser's order with all necessary descriptive data and presumes necessary lead time for production scheduling, manufacturing and testing. Purchaser's change in specifications or requirements may affect delivery time and additional cost will be for Purchaser's account. Purchaser shall not change or modify specifications of the quotation except by agreement with Seller. Purchaser accepts cost increases due to modification of original order.

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE (CONTINUED) FORCE MAJUERE: If either party is unable by reason of Force Majeure to carry out any of it's obligations under this Agreement, other than obligations to pay money, then or such party giving notice and particulars in writing to the other party within a reasonable time after the occurrence of the cause relied upon, such obligations shall be suspended. "Force Majeure" shall include acts of God, laws and regulations, government acts, war, civil disturbances, strikes and labor problems, delays of vendors, carriers, lightening, fire, flood, washout, storm, breakage or accident to equipment or machinery, shortage of raw materials, and any other causes that are not reasonably within the control of the party so affected. TOWNSEND shall be paid it's applicable standby rate, if any during any such Force Majeure event. CANCELLATION: Orders placed by Buyer and accepted by TOWNSEND may be canceled only with the written consent of TOWNSEND and will be subject to cancellation charges. In accepting an order TOWNSEND orders raw materials and castings from it's vendors. Once raw material and castings have been received by TOWNSEND, Buyer is obligated to reimburse TOWNSEND for it's expenses including labors, freight and material cost. No orders may be canceled subsequent to shipment. As estimated actual damages, Buyer agrees to pay TOWNSEND the greater of TOWNSEND'S actual cost incurred prior to cancellation plus a reasonable profit, or the following minimum cancellation charges: (a.) 20% of order value if canceled 30 or more days prior to the original shipment date; (b.) 50% of the order value if canceled thereafter, or (c.) 100% of the value of any non-standard items, which are items not built from stock or built to customers specifications. Buyer shall verify the amount of the cancellation charges prior to canceling an order. TOWNSEND has the right to determine which cancellation charge will apply. TITLE AND RISK OF LOSS: Ownership and risk of loss pass to the Buyer upon the earlier of (i) TOWNSEND'S delivery of goods to the carrier, or (ii) invoicing by TOWNSEND for the goods where Buyer is unable to accept delivery on the scheduled date. TOWNSEND retains a SECURITY INTEREST in the goods until the full purchase price has been paid, and Buyer agrees to perform upon request all acts required to secure TOWNSEND'S interest. TOWNSEND accepts no responsibility for any damage, shortages or loss in transit. TOWNSEND will attempt to pack or prepare all shipments so that they will not break, rust or deteriorate in shipment, but does not guarantee against such damage. Claims for any damages, shortage or loss in transit must be made by Buyer on the carrier. LIMITED WARRANTY: In the case of the purchase of "NEW" Blowout Preventers, Accumulators and Equipment and solely for the benefit of the original Buyer, TOWNSEND warrants, for a period of 12 months from shipment that Equipment of it's own manufacture shall conform to the material and technical specifications set forth in the relevant scope of work document as agreed to in writing by TOWNSEND and Buyer. If the equipment fails to conform with such specifications upon inspection by TOWNSEND, TOWNSEND at its option and as Buyers sole remedy, will either repair or replace such defective Equipment with the type originally furnished. Under no circumstances will TOWNSEND be liable for unauthorized services performed on equipment by another vendor without TOWNSEND'S first written approval. "RECONDITIONED EQUIPMENT" TOWNSEND warrants to Buyer, that for a period of 30 days from the date of shipment to Buyer, equipment will be free from defects in material and workmanship performed by TOWNSEND prior to sale. Buyer should be aware that Used Equipment is used and carries only the warranty of the original equipment manufacturer. TOWNSEND purchases and re-sales Used Equipment with no specified warranty as to the condition of the equipment prior to sale other than TOWNSEND sells Equipment "AS IS" or "RECONDITIONED" to TOWNSEND'S best ability and only guarantees the equipment to test before it leaves TOWNSEND'S facility, unless otherwise specified to Buyer in writing prior to sale. TOWNSEND, under no circumstances will be liable for any repairs performed on equipment by the Buyer or another vendor without first prior written consent by TOWNSEND. Under no circumstances will TOWNSEND'S obligation for services being performed exceed the original profit received by TOWNSEND on the purchase price of the used equipment. "SERVICE" TOWNSEND warrants that the Services to be provided pursuant to this Agreement shall conform to the material aspects of the specifications set forth in the relevant scope of work document as agreed to in writing by TOWNSEND and Buyer. TOWNSEND shall re-perform that part of the non-conforming Services, provided TOWNSEND is notified by Buyer prior to TOWNSEND'S departure from the work site. TOWNSEND'S warranty obligations hereunder shall not apply if the non-conformity was caused by (a.) Buyer's failure to properly store or maintain the Equipment or Parts; (b.) unauthorized modifications, repair or service of the Equipment or Parts by Buyer or other vendor, (c.) utilization of replacement parts not manufactured by TOWNSEND; or (d.) use or handling of the Equipment or Parts by Buyer in a manner inconsistent with TOWNSEND'S recommendations. Further, TOWNSEND'S warranty obligations under this obligation shall terminate if (a.) Buyer fails to perform it's obligations under this or any other Agreement between the parties, or (b.) if Buyer fails to pay any charges due to TOWNSEND. Any third party warranties provided on Equipment or Parts not manufactured by TOWNSEND are assigned to Buyer, without recourse, at the time of delivery, provided such warranties are assignable. THIS ARTICLE SETS FORTH BUYER'S SOLE REMEDY AND TOWNSEND'S ONLY OBLIGATION WITH REGARD TO NON-CONFORMING EQUIPMENT, PARTS OR SERVICES, EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE EXPRESSLY PROVIDED PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ARTICLE. TOWNSEND MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS OF ANY KIND. EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND TOWNSEND DISCLAIMS THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR MECHANTIBILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE LIABILITY OF TOWNSEND FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE IN ANYWAY RESULTING TO BUYER OR ANY OTHER PERSON FROM ANY FAILURE OF A EQUIPMENT, PARTS OR SERVICES TO CONFORM TO ORDER OR SPECIFICATIONS, OR ANY ACCOUNT BREACH OF WARRANTY, OR NEGLIGENCE OR FAILURE TO CONFORM TO ANY STANDARD OR CARE IN ANYTHING DONE OR OMITTED BY TOWNSEND, ANY EMPLOYEE OR AGENT, SHALL NOT, IN ANY EVENT, EXCEED THE AMOUNT WHICH TOWNSEND RECEIVED FROM BUYER FOR THE SPECIFIC PRODUCT FOR THE

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE (CONTINUED) SPECIFIC PRODUCTS OR SERVICES FOUND DEFECTIVE. CHANGES: TOWNSEND expressly reserves the right to change, discontinue or modify the design and manufacture of it's products without obligation to furnish, retrofit or install goods previously or subsequently sold. RETURN OF MADE TO STOCK GOODS: Upon TOWNSEND'S written approval, unused incorrectly shipped or "MADE TO STOCK" goods ordered incorrectly, in new condition and of current manufacture and catalog specifications may be returned by Buyer for credit (subject to a restocking fee), provided written request is received within 30 days after purchase date. Non-standard goods are not returnable for credit. Request for return of goods mush show original purchase order number, invoice number, description of material, and date of purchase. Return goods does not relieve Buyer of the obligation to make payment against TOWNSEND'S invoice, and any credit or refund allowed will be issued following TOWNSEND'S receipt of the goods, prepaid. The credit allowed on returned goods, if any, is a merchandise credit and is applicable only against further purchases of TOWNSEND goods. The credit given will be solely in TOWNSEND'S discretion and may be passed on the original or a subsequently adjusted price; a charge will be made to clean-up, refinish and restock. No rubber products or components may be returned for credit after 60 days from the date of shipment unless previously agreed to in writing by TOWNSEND. LIABILITIES, RELEASES AND INDEMNIFICATION: For purpose of this article, the following definitions shall apply: (1) "TOWNSEND GROUP" shall mean (I.) TOWNSEND, its parent, subsidiary or related companies, (ii.) its or their working interest owners, co-lessees, co-owners, partners, joint ventures, if any, and their respective parents, subsidiary or related companies and (iii.) the officers, directors, employees, consultants, agents and invitees of all of the foregoing. (2) "buyer Group" shall mean (I.) Buyers, its parent, subsidiary or related companies, (ii.) its and their working interest owners, co-lessees, co-owners, partners, joint ventures, if any, and their respective parents, subsidiary or related companies and (iii.) the officers, directors, employees, consultants , agents and invitees of all of the foregoing. (3) "claims shall mean all claims, demands, causes of action, liabilities, damages, judgments, fines, penalties, awards, losses, costs, expenses (including, without limitation, attorneys' fees and costs of litigation) of any kind or character arising out of, or related to, the performance of or subject matter of this Agreement (including, without limitation, property loss or damage, personal or bodily injury, sickness, disease or death, loss of services and/or wages, or loss of consortium or society.) (a.) TOWNSEND shall release, indemnify, defend and hold Buyer Group harmless from and against any and all Claims in respect of personal or bodily injury to, sickness, disease or death of any member of TOWNSEND GROUP or TOWNSEND'S Group subcontractors or their employees, agents or invitees, and all claims in respect of damage to or loss or destruction of property owned, leased, rented or hired by any member of TOWNSEND Group or TOWNSEND Group's subcontractors or their employees, agents or invitees. (b.) Buyer shall release, indemnify, defend and hold TOWNSEND Group harmless from and against any and all Claims in respect of personal or bodily injury to, sickness, disease or death of any member of Buyer Group or Buyer's Group's other contractors or their employees, agents or invitees, and all Claims in respect to or loss or destruction of property owned, leased, rented or hired by any member of Buyer's Group or Buyers Group's other contractors or their employees, agents or invitees. (c.) In the event this Agreement is subject to the indemnity limitations in Chapter d127 of the Texas Civil Practices and Remedies Code (or any successor statute), and so long as such limitations are in force, each party covenants and agrees to support the mutual indemnity obligations contained in Paragraphs a and b above, by carrying equal amounts of insurance (or qualified self insurance) in an amount no ness than $1,000,000.00 U.S. (d.) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Agreement to the contrary, in all instances where TOWNSEND is providing Services at a well site, Buyer, to the maximum extent permitted under applicable law, shall release, indemnify, defend and hold TOWNSEND Group and TOWNSEND Group subcontractors harmless from and against any and all Claims asserted by or in favor of any person or party, including TOWNSEND Group, Buyer Group or any other person or party, resulting from: (i.) loss or damage to any well or hole (including but not limited to the costs of re-drill), (ii.) blowout, fire, explosion, cratering or any uncontrolled well condition (including but not limited to the cost to control a wild well and the removal of debris), (iii.) damage to any reservoir, geological formation or underground strata or the loss of oil, water or gas therefrom, (iv.) pollution or contamination of any kind (other than surface spillage of fuels, lubricants, rig sewage or garbage, to the extent attributable to the negligence of TOWNSEND Group, including but not limited to the cost of control, removal and clean-up, or (vi) damages to , or escape of any substances from, any pipeline, vessel or storage facility. (e.) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Agreement to the contrary, neither party shall be liable to the other and each party releases the other for any indirect, special, punitive, exemplary or consequential damages or losses (whether foreseeable at the date of this Agreement, including without limitation, damages for lost production, lost revenue, lost product, lost profit, lost business or business opportunities. (f.) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Agreement to the contrary, TOWNSEND'S total liability for all claims, damages, causes of action, demands, judgments, fines, penalties, awards, losses, costs and expenses (including attorney's fees and cost of litigation) shall be limited to and shall not exceed the value of the Products or Services Purchased. (g.) THE EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY, RELEASES AND INDEMNITIES SET FORTH IN PARAGRAPH A, THROUGH F, OF THIS ARTICLE SHALL APPLY TO ANY CLAIM(S), LOSSES OR DAMAGES WITHOUT REGARD TO THE CAUSE(S) THEREOF, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS, WHETHER SUCH CONDITIONS BE PATENT OR LATENT, THE IMPERFECTION OF MATERIAL, DEFECT OR FAILURE OF PRODUCTS OR EQUIPMENT, BREACH OF REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY (EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED), ULTRA-HAZARDOUS ACTIVITIES, STRICT LIABILITY, TORT, BREACH OF CONTRACT, BREACH OF DUTY (STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE), BREACH OF ANY SAFETY REQUIREMENT OR REGULATION, OR THE NEGLIGENCE OR OTHER LEGAL FAULT OR RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY PERSON (INCLUDING THE INDEMNIFIED OR RELEASED PARTY), WHETHER SUCH NEGLIGENCE BE SOLE, JOINT OR CONCURRENT, ACTIVE OR PASSIVE, (h.) Redress under the indemnity provisions set forth in this Article shall be the exclusive remedy(ies) available to the parties hereto for the matter,

INSURANCE: Upon written request, each party shall furnish the the other party certificates of insurance evidencing the fact that the adequate insurance to support each party's obligations hereunder has been secured. To the extend of each party's release and indemnity obligations expressly assumed by each party hereunder, each party agrees that all such insurance policies hall (a.) be primary to the other party's insurance; (b.) include the other party, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated or related companies, and its and their respective officers, directors, employees, consultants, and agents as additional insured; and (c.) be endorsed to waive subrogation against the other party, its parent subsidiary and affiliated or related companies, and its and their respective officers, directors, employees, consultants and agents. GOVERNING LAW: A. Except for Equipment, Parts and Services provided, or to the provided, by TOWNSEND in North or South America (the America's), this Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with English law, excluding conflicts and choice of law principals. B. For Equipment Parts and Services provided, or to be provided, by TOWNSEND in the America's, this Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the substantive laws of Texas, excluding conflicts and choice of law principles. Venue for any dispute or conflict shall be solely in Ector County, Texas, U.S.A. ENFORCEMENT: Any action pertaining to this agreement or to the goods delivered thereunder must be brought in the courts of the State of Texas, County of Ector, and Customer further consents to the jurisdiction of the courts of the State of Texas, County of Ector, relating to any such action. REGULATORY COMPLIANCE: By acceptance of delivery of this order, Buyer warrants it has complied with all applicable governmental, statutory and regulatory requirements and will furnish TOWNSEND with such documents as may be required. TOWNSEND warrants and certifies that in the performance of this contract, it will comply with all applicable statutes, rules, regulations and orders of the United States and of any state or political subdivision thereof, including laws and regulations pertaining to labor, wages, hours and conditions of employment, applicable price ceilings if any, and that the articles delivered hereunder shall be in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Acts and the Equal Employment Opportunity provisions of pertinent Executive Orders and the regulations adopted thereunder. Further, Buyer acknowledges that all equipment, parts, materials, and products under these terms and conditions are being quoted accordingly to regulations issued by the United States Export Administration Department. United States Law prohibits the sale, re-sale, export or re-export of equipment, parts, materials or products to trade sanctioned countries. CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION: Each party recognizes and acknowledges that it shall maintain all data, information, disclosures, documents, drawings, specifications, patterns, calculations, technical information and other documents (collectively, "Confidential Information) obtained from the other in strict confidence subject only to disclosure required by law or legal process. In the event that TOWNSEND owns copyrights to patents to, or has filed patent applications on, any technology related to the Equipment, Services or Parts furnished by TOWNSEND hereunder, and if TOWNSEND makes any improvements on such technology, then such improvements shall not fall within the confidentiality obligation included herein, and TOWNSEND shall own all such improvements including drawings, specifications, patterns, calculations, technical information and other documents. However, nothing herein above contained shall deprive the Receiving Party of the right to use or disclose any information: (a.) which is, at the time of disclosure, known to the trade or public; or (b.) which becomes at a later date known to the trade or the public through no fault of the Receiving Party and ten only after said later date; or (c.) which is proposed by the Receiving Party . As evidenced by the Receiving Parties written records, before receipt thereof from the Disclosing Party, or (d.) which is disclosed to the Receiving Party in good faith by a third party who has an independent right to such information; (e.) which is developed by the Receiving Party as evidence by documentation, independently of the Confidential Information, or (f.) which is required to he disclosed by the Receiving Party pursuant to an order of a court of competent jurisdiction or other governmental agency having the power to order such disclosure, provided that the Receiving Party uses its best efforts to provide timely notice to the Disclosing party of such order to permit the Disclosing Party an opportunity to contest such order. INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR: It is expressly understood that TOWNSEND is an independent contractor, and that neither TOWNSEND nor its principle, partners, employees or subcontractors are servants, agents or employees of the Buyer. POINT OF SALE: Customer agrees, as a condition of purchase, all points of sale will be base on origin of Original Invoice and not Delivery Ticket. Point of Sale will be Odessa, Ector County, Texas. GENERAL: Failure of Buyer or TOWNSEND to enforce any of the terms and conditions of this Agreement shall not prevent a subsequent enforcement of such terms and conditions or be deemed a waiver of any subsequent breach. Should any provision of this Agreement, or portion thereof, he unenforceable or in conflict with governing country, state, province, or local laws, then the validity of the remaining provisions, and portions, and portions thereof, shall not be affected by such un-enforceability or conflict, and this Agreement shall be construed as if such provisions supersedes all prior written agreements or representations. Buyer acknowledges that it has not relied on any representations other than those contained in this Agreement. INTRODUCTION The purpose of this manual is to give the operator a better understanding of the TOWNSEND "TYPE 81" RAM TYPE BLOWOUT PREVENTER and to familiarize the operator with the component parts and operation of the preventer. Proper maintenance will help detect performance deviations before problems occur during a well control situation. The American Petroleum Institute recommends practices RP-53 on blowout prevention. A current copy of this procedure can be obtained from the American Petroleum Institute. Townsend's "TYPE 81" Well Service Blowout Preventers are manufactured under the American Petroleum Institute Specification 16-A. Additional information is available in the following publications: 1. Townsend General Catalog 2. American Petroleum Institute (Practices RP-53) on Blowout Prevention or latest version 3. American Petroleum Institute Specification 16-A 4. National Association of Correction Engineers (Standard MR-01-75) or latest version The most economical sequence for test and inspection procedures should be consistent with safe rig operations. The maintenance of TOWNSEND "TYPE 81" Blowout Preventer is designed to coincide with a normal rig move or when the rig is being overhauled. TOWNSEND INTERNATIONAL BOPS manufactures the "TYPE 81" Ram Type Blowout Preventer as Mechanical or Hydraulic operated. The Mechanical preventer can easily be converted to a Hydraulic version with the exchange of particular component parts. The "TYPE 81" Preventers are available in single, double and triple configurations and are avaialble in 7-1/16" X 3M & 5M or 9" X 3M & 5M PSI ratings. This program applies to both TOWNSEND'S Mechanical and Hydraulic operated "TYPE 81" Ram Type Blowout Preventers. The best preventative is a good maintenance program.

PRE-INSTALLATION INSPECTION 1. PRIOR TO INSTALLATION, CLEAN AND LUBRICATE ALL PARTS AND SEALS. ALL BOPS SHOULD BE CLEANED AND TESTED BEFORE BEING PLACED INTO OPERATION OR MOVED TO ANOTHER JOB. PROLONG INTERVALS OF NON- OPERATION AND NO LUBRICATION WILL CAUSE SEALS TO FREEZE UP AND POSSIBLY BREAK OR LOCK UP THE PREVENTER. 2. VISUALLY INSPECT THE BORE OF THE PREVENTER TO CONFIRM THAT RAM BLOCKS ARE IN THE OPEN POSITION. 3. INSPECT FOR DAMAGE TO THE TOP AND BOTTOM RING GROOVE ON THE PREVENTER. CLEAN RING GROOVES PRIOR TO PLACING RING GASKET IN GROOVE WITH EMERY CLOTH AND LIGHTLY OIL. ALWAYS REPLACE RING GASKETS WHEN PREVENTER IS REMOVED OR PLACED ON WELLHEAD OR A JOINTING FLANGE. 4. INSPECT THE RAM BLOCKS AND INTERNAL CAVITY FOR PHYSICAL DAMAGE. 5. INSPECT THE RAM RUBBERS FOR CRACKS, DAMAGE OR MISSING CHUNKS OF RUBBER DUE TO EXCESSIVE USE. (IF RAM RUBBERS ARE DAMAGED OR WEATHER CRACKED, REPLACE THEM BEFORE OPERATING THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER.) 6. INSPECT THE STUDS AND NUTS TO CONFIRM THREADS ARE NOT DAMAGED. REPLACE ANY STUD THAT IS SHORTER THAN REQUIRED OR THAT HAS THREAD DAMAGE. CONFIRM THAT ALL STUDS ARE TIGHT WHEN THE PREVENTER IS PLACED OVER THE HOLE. 7. INSPECT ALL DOOR BOLTS TO CONFIRM THEY ARE ALSO TIGHT AND HAVE NOT BEEN DAMAGED OR ARE MISSING. REPLACE ANY MISSING DOOR BOLTS. 8. ON MECHANICAL PREVENTERS, CHECK THE CHAIN TO BE SURE IT IS SNUG AND THE SPROCKETS ARE PROPERLY ALIGNED. IMPROPER CHAIN ADJUSTMENT WILL CAUSE UNDO WEAR ON THE SHAFTS AND BEARINGS. KEEP ALL CONNECTIONS PROPERLY GREASED TO PREVENT WEAR.

INSTALLATION OF PREVENTER 1. BEFORE INSTALLING THE "TYPE 81" PREVENTER OVER THE HOLE, BE SURE THE TOWNSEND NAME PLATE IS NOT UPSIDE DOWN. THE NAME PLATE WILL HELP THE OPERATOR IN DETERMINING THAT THE PREVENTER IS PLACED OVER THE HOLE CORRECTLY AND NOT UPSIDE DOWN. THE LIFTING EYES WILL ALSO BE ON TOP OF THE PREVENTER. 2. A QUICK INSPECTION OF THE WELL BORE AND RAM CAVITY SHOULD SHOW THE SKID PADS IN THE RAM BORE CAVITY BELOW THE RAM BLOCKS. THE RAM BLOCK SEAL IS LOCATED ON TOP OF THE RAM BLOCK. 3. TOWNSEND HAS PROVIDED A LIFTING PLATE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PREVENTER TO ALLOW FOR EASY LIFTING. LIFT THE PREVENTER WITH THE USE OF THE LIFTING PLATES AND PLACE PREVENTER DIRECTLY OVER THE WELL BORE. 4. JUST BEFORE PLACING THE PREVENTER OVER THE WELL BORE, PLACE A NEW RING GASKET IN THE FLANGE BETWEEN THE WELL BORE CASING FLANGE AND THE PREVENTER FLANGE. INSPECT RING GASKET GROOVES IN BOTH FLANGES TO CONFIRM THEY ARE NOT DAMAGED AND FREE FROM TRASH AND RUST. CLEAN THE RING GROOVES WITH EMERY CLOTH IF NECESSARY. 5. PLACE THE PREVENTER OVER FLANGE WITH THE OUTLETS OR OPERATING CYLINDERS POINTING THE DIRECTION DESIRED. 6. TIGHTEN ALL BOLTS AND NUTS ACCORDINGLY. ONCE ALL NUTS ARE PLACE ON BOLTS AND HAND TIGHTEN, BEGIN TIGHTENING NUTS WITH A WRENCH OR IMPACT. TIGHTEN ONE NUT FIRMLY AND THEN CROSS OVER 180 DEGREES TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FLANGE TO TIGHTEN THE OPPOSITE NUT. ONCE THIS NUT IS TIGHTENED, CROSS OVER 90 DEGREES AND BEGIN TIGHTENING THE NEXT NUT, THEN CROSS OVER 180 DEGREES FROM THAT NUT TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE TO TIGHTEN THAT NUT. (GOOD EXAMPLE IS NORTH, SOUTH AND EAST WEST.) ONCE THE FOUR CORNER NUTS HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED, TIGHTEN ALL REMAINING NUTS GOING CLOCKWISE. RE-CHECK EACH NUT AS YOU GO CLOCKWISE AROUND THE FLANGE. EACH NUT SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING TORQUE POUNDS OF FOOT PRESSURE. 7-1/16 X 3M FLANGE CONNECTION - 1-1/18" BOLT - 704 POUNDS OF TORQUE 7-1/16 X 5M FLANGE CONNECTION - 1-3/8" BOLT - 1,321 POUNDS OF TORQUE 9" X 3M FLANGE CONNECTION - 1-3/8" BOLT - 1,321 POUNDS OF TORQUE 9" X 5M FLANGE CONNECTION - 1-5/8" BOLT - 2,221 POUNDS OF TORQUE

THE OPERATOR MAY CHOOSE TO LENGTHEN OR SHORTEN THE DISTANCE OF EXTENSIONS FOR THE HAND WHEELS BEFORE PLACING U-JOINTS ON EXTENSION. NORMAL EXTENSION MATERIAL IS 2-3/8" DIAMETER TUBING. THE HAND WHEEL MAY BE WELDED OR PINNED TO THE EXTENSION. A CONNECTION ADAPTER HAS TO BE WELDED TO THE EXTENSION FOR BOTH THE HAND WHEEL AND THE U-JOINT. 8. ON HYDRAULIC BLOWOUT PREVENTERS, CONNECT THE HYDRAULIC HOSES TO THE PROPER HYDRAULIC OUTLET. PERFORM A WELL BORE PRESSURE TEST BEFORE PLACING THE PREVENTER INTO SERVICE.

OPERATION OF PREVENTER 1. TO CLOSE THE RAMS IN THE MECHANICAL PREVENTER AND THE HYDRAULIC PREVENTER BY HAND, TURN THE HAND WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. THIS WILL CLOSE THE RAM BLOCKS AROUND THE PIPE. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO CLOSE THE HYDRAULIC BLOWOUT PREVENTER MANUALLY. IF PREVENTER IS CLOSED MANUALLY BE SURE AND OPEN LOCKING SHAFTS BEFORE OPERATING PREVENTER. 2. ON HYDRAULIC BLOWOUT PREVENTERS MOVE THE SELECTOR SWITCH ON THE CLOSING UNIT TO THE CLOSE POSITION. 3. TO OPEN THE RAMS IN THE PREVENTER MANUALLY, TURN THE HAND WHEEL TO THE LEFT. THIS WILL MOVE THE RAMS AWAY FROM THE WELL BORE. 4. ON HYDRAULIC PREVENTERS MOVE THE SELECTOR SWITCH ON THE CLOSING UNIT TO THE OPEN POSITION. 5. CONFIRM THAT THE RAMS ARE FULLY RETRACTED.

CAUTION

IF RAMS DO NOT FULLY RETRACT FROM THE WELL BORE, RAMS CAN BE DAMAGED OR THE INTERIOR BORE OF THE PREVENTER CAN BE DAMAGED WHEN THE PARTIALLY EXPOSED RAM PUSHES THE PIPE FROM CENTER OF THE WELL BORE.

MAINTENANCE THE TOWNSEND "TYPE 81" RAM TYPE BLOWOUT PREVENTER REQUIRES A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF MAINTENANCE. HOWEVER; IT IS IMPORTANT TO PERFORM MAINTENANCE ON ALL BLOWOUT PREVENTER TO PREVENT UNFORESEEN DEVIATIONS IN A WELL CONTROL SITUATION.

TYPE 81 MECHANICAL BOP PRE-SERVICE DISASSEMBLY & ASSEMBLY

TOWNSEND SUGGEST THAT THE OPERATOR SHOULD CLEAN AND LUBRICATE ALL PARTS AND SEALS WHEN ASSEMBLING OR REPLACING PARTS. IT IS MORE ECONOMICAL TO CHANGE ALL SEALS AND O-RINGS WHEN REPAIRING THE PREVENTER. (IF A PARTICULAR SEAL IS WEAK, THE OTHERS MOST LIKELY NEED TO BE REPLACED ALSO.) 1. ALL O-RINGS AND SEALS SHOULD BE LUBRICATED WITH SILICONE LUBRICANT OR MINERAL BASE LIGHT OIL. 2. SEED OIL OR GREASE SHOULD BE USED FOR RAM BLOCK LUBRICATION. 3. ALL THREADS SHOULD BE LUBRICATED WITH API-5A2 THREAD LUBRICANT PRIOR TO RE-ASSEMBLY. CHAINS AND SPROCKETS SHOULD ALSO BE LIGHTLY OILED. 4. ONCE THE PREVENTER HAS BEEN ASSEMBLED, IT SHOULD BE SHOP TESTED TO CONFIRM ALL COMPONENT PARTS ARE OPERATING PROPERLY.

MAINTENANCE RAM ASSEMBLY TIMING

IT IS IMPORTANT TO SET THE TIMING ON THE RAMS ONCE YOU PLACE THE RAMS INTO THE PREVENTER. IF THE TIMING IS NOT SET, ONE SIDE OF THE RAM MAY CLOSE TO THE CENTER OF THE BORE OF THE PREVENTER AND THE OTHER MAY NOT REACH THE BORE AN THERE WILL BE A GAP BETWEEN RAMS WHEN THE PREVENTER IS COMPLETELY CLOSED. TO SET THE TIMING; PLACE BOTH THE LEFT RAM AND THE RIGHT RAM INTO THE PREVENTER AND HOOK UP THE SPROCKET TO THE CHAIN. TURN THE CHAIN UNTIL THE RAMS MEET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BORE. IF ONE RAM MEETS THE MIDDLE BEFORE THE OTHER RAM DOES. REMOVE THE CHAIN AND TURN THE SPROCKET ON THE SIDE THAT THE RAM HAS NOT REACHED THE MIDDLE BORE UNTIL IT CENTERS UP WITH THE OTHER RAM. REPLACE THE CHAIN AND OPEN THE RAMS UP AND THEN CLOSE ONCE AGAIN TO CONFIRM THAT RAMS TOUCH EACH OTHER CENTER BORE.

1. TOWNSEND SUGGEST THAT A DAILY INSPECTION OF THE TYPE 81 PREVENTER BE PERFORMED TO DETECT OBVIOUS PROBLEMS. 2. ALL PIPE RAMS AND BLIND RAMS SHOULD BE CLOSED AND OPENED WHEN THE PIPE IS OUT OF THE HOLE TO VERIFY THAT RAMS ARE OPERATING PROPERLY AND FREELY. RAMS SHOULD BE WELL GREASED TO ALLOW RAMS TO SLIDE EASILY OVER THE SKID PADS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RAM CAVITY. 3. VISUALLY INSPECT THE EXTERIOR OF THE PREVENTER TO CONFIRM THERE ARE NO HYDRAULIC LEAKS OR DAMAGED COMPONENT PARTS. THIS INSPECTION SHOULD BE PERFORMED WHILE APPLYING CLOSING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE AND AGAIN WHEN THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE IS OPENED. INSPECT FOR SEALS LEAKING ON CLOSING OR OPENING PRESSURE. 4. ON TOWNSEND TYPE 81 MECHANICAL BLOWOUT PREVENTERS, TURN THE HAND WHEELS TO FULL OPEN AND CLOSE POSITION TO CONFIRM THEY ARE OPERATING FREELY. A. INSPECT CHAINS AND SPROCKETS AND OIL LIGHTLY. B. INSPECT BEARINGS AND GREASE.

TEST THE LOCKING SYSTEM.

REPLACE ANY ITEMS THAT SHOW WEAR OR DAMAGE. 4. REPLACE ALL RUBBER GOODS INCLUDING SEALS, O-RINGS, WIPERS, PACKING AND DOOR SEALS. 5. CLEAN AND LUBRICATE ALL PARTS AND SEALS WHEN ASSEMBLING OR REPLACING PARTS. 6. ALL O-RINGS AND SEALS SHOULD BE LUBRICATED WITH A SILICONE LUBRICANT OR MINERAL BASE LIGHT OIL. 7. IN OTHER AREAS WHERE LUBRICANT IS NEEDED, USE LIGHT MACHINE OIL. 8. SEED OIL OR GREASE SHOULD BE USED FOR RAM BLOCK LUBRICATION. 9. ALL THREADS SHOULD BE LUBRICATED WITH API-5A2 THREAD LUBRICANT PRIOR TO ASSEMBLY. 10. PREFERABLY SAND BLAST AND PAINT PREVENTER BEFORE ASSEMBLY TO KEEP FREE FROM RUST AND TRASH.

MAINTENANCE THREE YEAR INSPECTION

TOWNSEND SUGGEST THAT EVERY THREE YEARS THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER SHOULD BE RETURNED TO TOWNSEND INTERNATIONAL BOPS, OR AN AUTHORIZED TOWNSEND REPAIR CENTER TO BE COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED AND INSPECTED FOR WEAR. ALL WEAR DIMENSIONS SHOULD BE DOCUMENTED. TOWNSEND OR AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER SHOULD PERFORM ALL NECESSARY REPAIRS TO BRING THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER BACK TO API 6A STANDARDS. ALL RUBBER GOODS, RAM RUBBERS AND METAL COMPONENTS SHOULD BE REPLACED. IF THE BODY NEEDS REPAIR, THE BODY SHOULD BE WELDED UP USING TOWNSEND APPROVED WELDING PROCEDURES AND RE-MACHINED BACK TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. MAINTENANCE BETWEEN WELLS INSPECTION

1. CLEAN AND INSPECT RAMS AND REPLACE RAM RUBBERS IF NECESSARY. 2. CLEAN AND GREASE THE RAM ASSEMBLY BEFORE INSTALLATION. 3. THOROUGHLY CLEAN AND INSPECT THE RAM CAVITY AND INSPECT FOR DAMAGE TO RAM BLOCKS, RAM PACKERS AND CAVITY. 4. GREASE ALL ALEMITE FITTINGS AND OIL ALL CHAINS, FITTINGS AND GREASE ALL BOLTS AND NUTS TO KEEP FROM FREEZING UP. 5. PLUG HYDRAULIC OPEN AND CLOSE LINE INLETS TO PREVENT DIRT AND TRASH FROM CONTAMINATING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. IF OIL LEAKS OUT OF ORPHIC AND DRAINS OIL FROM SEAL AREAS, SEALS WILL DRY OUT AND CRACK. USE PLUGS, NOT RAGS. 6. PLACE A RING GASKET PROTECTOR PLATE OVER RING GASKET GROOVES OR GREASE HEAVILY WITH GREASE. DO NOT PLACE BOTTOM OF THE PREVENTER DIRECTLY ON THE GROUND. PLACE BOARDS OR BLOCKS UNDER FLANGED BOTTOM TO PREVENT WATER AND RUST TO BOTTOM RING GASKET GROOVE. 7. VISUALLY INSPECT PREVENTER FOR HYDRAULIC LEAKS WHILE PREVENTER HAS BEEN SITTING FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. 8. STORE THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. WHEN THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER IS PLACED ON IT'S SIDE, UNDO STRESS IS PLACED ON SEALS DAMAGING THEM. STRESS WILL ALSO FLATTEN OUT O-RING SEALS.

FIELD WELL BORE PRESSURE TEST WHEN PERFORMING A "WELL BORE PRESSURE TEST", IT SHOULD CONFORM TO API SPEC 6A, APPENDIX F REQUIREMENTS. TOWNSEND'S SPECIFICATIONS CONFORM TO THAT TEST. FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON API 6A, APPENDIX F SPECIFICATIONS, CONTACT API FOR THEIR CURRENT PUBLICATION OR CONTACT API THROUGH THEIR WEB PAGE. THE FIELD WELL BORE PRESSURE TEST CAN BE PERFORMED WHILE THE BOP IS IN A STACK, WELLHEAD, TEST STUMP, OR BLIND FLANGE. 1. TEST PRESSURE SHOULD BE THE LOWEST RATED WORKING PRESSURE OF ANY COMPONENT OR CONNECTION WHICH WILL BE PRESSURIZED DURING THE TEST. 2. THE WELL BORE PRESSURE TEST FLUID SHOULD BE COLD WATER OR DRILLING FLUIDS. 3. WHEN TESTING PIPE RAMS, CLOSE THE RAMS AROUND THE PROPER SIZE PIPE OR TEST PLUG THAT COINCIDES WITH THE PIPE SIZE OF THE RAM BLOCK AND RAM RUBBERS. 4. APPLY 200 TO 300 PSI WELL BORE PRESSURE FOR (3) THREE MINUTES OR LONGER TO CHECK FOR LOW PRESSURE RAM LEAKS. NOTE: THE LOW PRESSURE TEST FOR RAM LEAKS IS NOT PART OF API 6A REQUIREMENTS, HOWEVER; TOWNSEND SUGGEST THIS TEST BE PERFORMED SINCE THE INFORMATION CAN BE USEFUL. A. IF THE RAM IS LEAKING AT LOW PRESSURE, THE PRESSURE GAUGE ON THE CLOSING UNIT OR TEST UNIT WILL INDICATE THE LEAK BY DECREASING IT'S RATING. B. IF THE RAMS ARE VISIBLE, WATER WILL BE LEAKING PAST THE RAM RUBBER SEALS. 5. INCREASE THE WELL BORE PRESSURE TO THE BOP'S RATED WORKING PRESSURE. (CHECK BOP'S WORKING PRESSURE CHART ON SPECIFICATION SHEET.) HOLD THE PRESSURE FOR (3) MINUTES OR LONGER TO CHECK FOR LEAKS. A. A LEAK CAN BE DETECTED BY A DECREASE IN PRESSURE ON THE PRESSURE GAUGE ON THE TEST UNIT OR CLOSING UNIT.

B. IF THE RAMS ARE VISIBLE, WATER WILL BE SPRAYING OUT FROM THE RAM RUBBER SEAL, INDICATING A LEAK. C. IN ADDITION TO WATCHING THE PRESSURE GAUGE, INSPECT THE EXTERIOR OF THE BOP AROUND THE DOOR SEAL AREAS, AND CONNECTIONS FOR LEAKS. 6. ONCE THE DESIGNATED TIME HAS LAPSED, REDUCE THE WELL BORE PRESSURE TO ZERO. WAIT FOR A MINIMUM OF (3) THREE MINUTES AND PERFORM A SECOND PRESSURE HOLDING TEST BY REPEATING THE SAME PROCESS AGAIN.

CHECK FOR WELLHEAD BORE PROTECTION. 3. VERIFY THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER TYPE AND RATED WORKING PRESSURE. 4. VERIFY DRILLING SPOOL, SPACER SPOOL , VALVE TYPE AND RATED WORKING PRESSURE FOR EACH. (DO NOT EXCEED WORKING PRESSURE OF ANY COMPONENT THAT IS PART OF THE PREVENTER OR ATTACHED TO THE PREVENTER.) 5. VERIFY RAM PLACEMENT IN THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER IF TESTING SPECIFIC RAMS. RAMS AND RAM RUBBER SIZE SHOULD COINCIDE. 6. OPEN CASING VALVE DURING TEST, UNLESS PRESSURE ON THE CASING HOLE IS INTENDED. 7. TEST PRESSURE SHOULD NOT EXCEED THE RATED WORKING PRESSURE OF THE BODY OR THE SEALS OF THE ASSEMBLY BEING TESTED. 8. TEST PRESSURE SHOULD NOT EXCEED THE VALUES FOR TENSILE YIELD, COLLAPSE, AND INTERNAL PRESSURE TABULATED BY THE APPROPRIATE DRILL PIPE AS LISTED IN API RP-7G, "RECOMMENDED PRACTICE FOR DRILL STEM DESIGN AND OPERATING LIMITS." 9. VERIFY THE TYPE AND PRESSURE RATING OF THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER TO BE USED. RATING REQUIREMENTS CAN BE ACQUIRED FROM THE AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE. HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TEST API SPECIFICATION 16A DOES NOT COVER HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TEST FOR BLOWOUT PREVENTERS. DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS REQUIRE DIFFERENT TEST BASED ON THE DESIGN OF THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER. THE BOP MAY BE TESTED IN A STACK, WELLHEAD, TEST STUMP OR BLIND FLANGE. PERFORM THE TEST WITH WATER OR DRILLING FLUIDS. 1. CONNECT THE CLOSING LINES TO THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER. 2. SET TEST PLUG OR DRILL PIPE IN THE PREVENTER, IF TESTING SPECIFIC SIZE RAMS, RAM BLOCKS AND RAM RUBBERS SHOULD MATCH TEST PLUG OR PIPE. 3. BOTH THE OPENING AND CLOSING HYDRAULIC LINES MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH A VALVE AND A GAUGE BETWEEN THE VALVE AND THE BOP. 4. THE HYDRAULIC TEST FLUID SHOULD BE THE TYPE OF FLUID USED ON THE WELL SERVICE UNIT OR RIG. 5. TOWNSEND SUGGEST THAT THE RAMS BE CLOSED AND OPENED A FEW TIMES TO RELEASE AIR IN THE SYSTEM BEFORE TESTING. 6. CHECK FOR CLOSING CHAMBER SEAL LEAKS BY APPLYING CLOSING PRESSURE TO CLOSE THE RAMS AND CHECK FOR FLUID LEAKS BY OBSERVING OPENING LINE PORTS. 1500 LBS. OF HYDRAULIC CLOSING PRESSURE SHOULD BE USED. IF GAUGES REFLECT A DROP IN PRESSURE, THERE IS A LEAK. 7. RELEASE THE CLOSING PRESSURE, REMOVE THE CLOSING LINES AND CONNECT OPEN LINES. BE SURE THAT THE PRESSURE IS RELEASED BEFORE REMOVING LINES. 8. ONCE OPEN LINES HAVE BEEN CONNECTED, OPEN RAMS BY APPLYING 1500 LBS OF OPENING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE AND CHECK FOR CHAMBER SEAL LEAKS. RAMS SHOULD BE FULLY OPEN. INSPECT CLOSING LINE PORTS FOR FLUID LEAKS. IF THERE IS A DROP IN THE GAUGE PRESSURE, THERE IS A LEAK.

RELEASE OPENING PRESSURE AND RECONNECT CLOSING HYDRAULIC LINES. BE SURE PRESSURE IS RELEASED BEFORE REMOVING LINES. 11. CHECK FOR RAM PACKER LEAKS AT LOW PRESSURE BY CLOSING RAMS WITH 1500 PSI OPERATING PRESSURE AND APPLY PRESSURE UNDER RAMS UP TO 200 - 300 LBS. PSI WITH TEST PLUG OR PIPE COMPATIBLE TO RAMS BEING TESTED. 12. HOLD PRESSURE FOR (3) MINUTES OR LONGER. CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND THE RAM PACKERS. IF RAM PACKERS ARE LEAKING, REPLACE THEM. 13. REPEAT PROCEDURE FOR EACH SET OF RAMS. 14. TO TEST BLIND RAMS, REMOVE TEST PLUG OR DRILL PIPE AND CLOSE BLIND RAMS ON OPEN HOLE. 15. INCREASE THE PRESSURE UNDER THE RAMS FROM 200/300 LBS. TO THE FULL OPERATING PRESSURE OF THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER. (DO NOT EXCEED THE WORKING PRESSURE OF THE BLOWOUT PREVENTER OR ASSEMBLY BEING TESTED.) ONCE THE WORKING PRESSURE HAS BEEN REACHED, HOLD PRESSURE FOR A MINIMUM OF (3) THREE MINUTES. CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND RAM PACKERS OR A DROP ON THE PRESSURE GAUGE ON THE CLOSING UNIT OR TEST UNIT. (THE PRESSURE DROP WILL BE ON THE GAUGE THAT MEASURES ANNULAR PRESSURE UNDER THE RAMS.) IF THE RAMS LEAK, REPLACE THE RAM PACKERS. 16. REPEAT PROCEDURE FOR EACH SET OF RAMS. 17. TEST PROCEDURE IS THE SAME FOR BLIND RAMS WITH THE TEST PLUG OR PIPE REMOVED. NOTE: INSPECT TEST UNIT OR CLOSING UNIT FOR LEAKS PRIOR TO PERFORMING TEST TO PREVENT COMPROMISING TEST WITH A LEAK BEFORE REACHING THE PREVENTER. OPERATOR SHOULD ALWAYS CONSIDER SAFETY AS PART OF ANY PRESSURE TEST.
