It took nearly five hours to subdue flames, which had spread from a spark under a fireplace cleanout into a wood- pile and other material in the cellar. Arena firemen joined the fight after they had sub- dued a chimney fire in their own territory. MaTgaret\’IUe — A 2-1 win over Roxbury gave Margaret- ville central schooMhe Upper Delaware league soccer cham- pionship and an invitation to the sectionals. Mfirgaretville—The remodeled Margaretville Methodist church will be reconsecrated at the 11 a.m. service Sunday. Margaret\’ille — A motion to hold a meeting of Stone school- house district voters Nov. 8 to decide the fate of the 142-year- old structure has been rescind- ed by the Margaretville central school board of education. It is the last remaining district school property in possession of the MCS district. Sfaavertown—Part of the up- per structure of the old iron bridge at Shavertown appeared above the receding waters of the PepactfHi reservoir last week Thursday. This is the second time the bridge has been exposed since it was covered by reservoir waters after it had collapsed while attempts were being made to remove it. MargaretviUe — Su{)ervisor James Cantwell has made a requisition for an emergency power plant to be installed in the basement of Margaretville central school. Nov. 8, 1962 I Biriceville—^Two veteran Air Force pilots were killed Wed- nesday afternoon when their trainer jet crashed and burned on Stickler ridge of Peekamoose mountain. Big Indian — An Air Force helicopter landed at John’s Sunoco station at Big Indian to refuel as it ran low while searching for the crashed jet plane. It landed at the rear of the station, and when in- formed the pumps were at the front, the pilot hopped it over the building, "nie craft took 78 galjons of low grade gaso- line. Hamden — The Delaware County Federation of Sports- men’s Clubs will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a ban- quet at the Hamden Inn. Delhi—The GOP fared well in Tuesday’s voting, with all Republican candidates winning from 2-1 to 3-1 margins in Delaware county. Hioenlcia — Troopers W. W. Wiedeman and Leon Dwienski and Constable Robert Grennie had to keep the windows of the troop car open while taking two Albany men to a justice of the peace, where the one of the two paid $52.50 for taking wild game out of season. The cul- prit was not allowed to keep tbe skunk he had shot, and the evidence was quickly disposed of after the case was closed. Shavertown—A flock of 100 snow geese spent the night on the upper Titch road, where there was little traffic because of the snowstorm. Boicevflle—Bus operation at Onteora central school has be- come a quarter-mOlion dollari annual business.
