Course Objectives

For surgeons familiar with orthopaedic surgery using plates and screws, InTrauma is pleased to offer a practical course on the Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy. The course will introduce delegates to the principles of case selection, planning, surgical approach and performing TPLO and allows participants to experience the procedure on plastic bone models. The course is presented by Massimo Petazzoni, DVM. Course outline Introduction to the Fixin locking system - Principles of TPLO - Planning TPLO from radiographs - Practical exercises performed on plastic bone models - Radiographic post operative evaluation of TPLO - Complications.

The instructors

Massimo PetazzoniDVM, Italy

Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Milano, 1997. Chief of the Orthopedic department of the “Clinica Veterinaria Milano Sud”, Peschiera Borromeo, Italy. Member of: SCIVAC, ESVOT, SIOVET, AVORE, AOVET Ambassador Member. Scientific lectures: 238 at national congresses, meetings and courses and 53 at International congresses. Author of 14 scientific papers. Lecturer at SCIVAC/AO courses: Distal Extremities, External Fixation, Ao Masterclass Course on Advanced Corrective Osteotomies and at ESVOT and ACVS course on Corrective Osteotomies and Patella Luxation. Invited speaker at SCIVAC, BVOA (UK), AVORE, ESVOT, VOS, ACVS, ECVS, AVO (Germany) meetings. He developed the Fixin device, the internal fixator with angular stability and conic coupling system. He was the secretary of the SIOVET, Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (2008-2011).Author of the Merial “Atlas of Clinical Goniometry” and Innovet “Atlas BOA, Breed Orthopedic Oriented Approach”. Council Member of the AVORE (Advanced Veterinary Orthopedic and Research) from 1/2010. Particular interests: limb alignment, stifle surgery, hybrid external fixators, Ilizarov technique, elastic internal fixation. He has two patents (pending) to his name.He completed Ironman 2013 Klagenfurt in 11 hours 15 minutes.

Vladislav Zlatinov

Graduated from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Forestry- Sofia, 2005. Worked as general practitioner in private veterinary clinic for 4 years. Since 2009 Chief Orthopedic Surgeon at Central Veterinary Clinic- Sofia. Member: of ESVOT (European Society of Veterinary Orthopaedics and Traumatology), AOVET Active Member, Society of Radiology genetically influenced skeletal disorders in small animals eV (GRSK)- HD + ED 2012- co- founder and part of the initiative committee of Bulgarian Association of Veterinary Orthpaedy Traumatology (BAVOT). At present vice-chairman in the association.2015-board member of Veterinary Orthopedic and Neurology Group (VOG).CPD training and recognition: four-week externship in Clinica Mediterraneo- Madrid, Spain. Supervised and trained by Dr. Miguel Ruiz Fundador and Dr. Margot Ruiz, 2007.Attended BIOMEDTRIX Universal hip workshop- Bristol, UK. Successfully went through the prod-uct certification program. Implemented Biomedtrix THR and TPLO technique in Bulgaria, 2012.Attended three AO-vet courses, including- Master class on advanced corrective osteotomies: Rear limb and Patellar luxation, Cremona, Italy, 2014.AO fellowship, 8 weeks attendance at ClinicaVeterinaria Dr. Aldo Vezzoni, Cremona, Italy. Main attended surgeries: TPLO, Kyon THR, Limb alignment surgeries, 2015.Lecturer/instructor at: several local private workshops (Central Veterinary clinic)- “Stifle surgery”, “Fractures treatment”, “External skeletal fixation”; lecturing at Mikromed sponsored seminar- plate osteosynthesis (2016); Private training DPO, CORA methodology- Larnaka , Cyprus (2016); Table as-sistant at “Advanced Orthopedic Workshop” - Optatija, Croatia; Speaker at “Juvenile orthopedic dis-eases”, VOG - Zagreb, Croatia (2017); junior AO vet faculty- table assistant AO vet advanced course Dubrovnik, Croatia (2017). Scientific organizer of 6 BAVOT congresses in Bulgaria- 2012 – 2017.13 first-authored publications in local scientific journals (including online)- short articles and case reports.
