Benefits to Distributors and Contractors

• Retrofit job where re-running wire is difficult or impossible?

• The latest in technology is requested by the building owner?

• Code requires running expensive conduit for all wiring?

• Tall ceilings? No good place to run wires?

• Have a building where walls will be moving?

• Want to substantially reduce labor cost on any new or retrofit install?

For all these reasons and more, consider wireless!

TR20 Series Wireless Overview

• Point to Point- Direct replacement for a wired sensor

- Can be used with Spyder, XL10, T7350/51 thermostats, etc

- Not compatible with TB7220 or TB8220 thermostats, or XL15

• Two Sensor options- With temperature only

TR21-WK kit or TR21-WS sensor only

- With temperature, setpoint knob, and override button TR23-WK kit or TR23-WS sensor only

• Sold as a kit - matched pair.• On board signal strength indicator

- No need for diagnostic tool.

TR20 Series Wireless Specifications

Basic Specs• Protocol – 2.4 GHz, 802.15.4 compliant, FCC

approved.• Open Range – 3000 feet• Typical Range in a Building – 100 feet• Accuracy – +/- 1ºF (+/-0.5ºC) from 54-86ºF (12-30ºC)

Receiver

Wireless sensor

• Battery life approximately 5 years with alkaline batteries (included), 7.5 years with lithium batteriesᅳ (this can vary depending on how often the override button is pressed).

TR20 Series Wireless Sensors

Sensor Types• Sensors are available in either the TR21 style

(temperature only) or TR23 style (temp, override button, and setpoint knob).

• Sensor transmission rate is every 30 seconds• If override button is pressed, transmits immediately.• To save battery life, override light will not remain on

after button is pressed – but system overrides none-the-less.

TR20 Series Wireless Installation

Installation steps for the wireless kit TR2X-WK1. Mount the receiver next to the controller 2. Wire the receiver to the controller just as you would

a wired sensor. Power the controller. See other slides for wiring

3. Insert batteries into the sensorCommunication should start automatically after 5-10 seconds.

4. Press the signal strength indicator on the side of the sensor. Signal strength LED flashes, see table below.

5. Green is strongest, yellow is weaker but acceptable. Whenever possible, mount in locations giving a green signal.

TR20 Series Wireless Dips

Prebound Kits and Dip Switches• TR21-WK and TR23-WK kits come shipped with

sensor and receiver pre-bound at the factory• No need to bind kits in the field or touch dip

switches! Just power both devices, communication starts automatically. - Pre-bound kits have binding dip switches all set at the OFF

position – each pre-bound kit communicates on it’s own unique “channel”.

• In case of replacement, dip switches are provided to bind any sensor to any receiver! Make sure to set dips differently at each kit in a given building.

• Labels on the receiver can be used to record dip positions.

Dip Switch settings• S1 is for controller selection. Default setting (1 on, others off) works for XL10, Spyder. See installation instruction for other options.

• S2 and S3 dips on receiver must match sensor dips, see diagram. Pre-bound kits come with all dips in OFF position, no need to adjust.

TR20 Series Wireless Compatibility

• Can replace any standard TR21, TR22, TR23, TR24, or T7770A, T7770B, T7770C, T7770D wall module.

• Use on Spyder or XL10 controllers. Not compatible with all Honeywell controllers.

Low Battery Signal• With approximately 2 months of battery life remaining,

the override button LED will flash red every 15 seconds.

• The low bat Digital Output on the receiver will close- Use this as a digital input on your controller to signal a

low battery alarm.

• Note: Low battery indicator does not occur when no batteries are installed, or if batteries are completely dead.

• Replace batteries every 5 years, or when low battery signal occurs.

General Installation tips• Do not mount receiver or sensor in metal enclosures• If mounted on metal, try to keep line of sight between sensor

and receiver as free of metal as possible (ducts, metal book cases, etc.)

• Gypsum (drywall) and windows will not significantly affect the signal. Metal studs don’t interfere much unless you have an oblique angle through the wall.

• Always check signal strength indicator before installing sensor

wall wall

ideal Oblique angle less preferred
