One of my favourite hymns is “Here is Love, Vast as the Ocean,” which describes what the Lord Jesus Christ did for mankind when He gave His life’s blood on the cross of Calvary. The hymn tells that “Through the floodgates of God’s mercy, Flowed a vast and gracious tide.” Being a Christian is about grace; it’s about sensing God’s mercy and His grace for ourselves. The second verse of the hymn speaks of “Heaven’s peace and perfect justice, Kissed a guilty world in love.” Experience of God’s love transforms the lives of those who receive it and it transforms their relationships with others. The third verse declares that the ways of God’s Kingdom should be the ways of God’s people; if we do not act in peace, justice and love, then we are not God’s people. The good news for all mankind is that “Christ died for sinners” And we can experience the love of God for ourselves, by confessing all our sins to God; removing all doubtful things from our lives; submitting to the Holy Spirit and by confessing Jesus Christ as LORD. Because only as we give ourselves completely to God can we truly experience the love of God which is vast as the ocean. Here are the complete lyrics for the song: Here is love vast as the ocean Loving kindness as the flood When the Prince of life, our ransom Shed for us His precious blood Who His love will not remember? Who can cease to sing His praise? He can never be forgotten Throughout Heaven's eternal days On the Mount of Crucifixion Fountains opened deep and wide Through the floodgates of God's mercy Flowed a vast and gracious tide Grace and love, like mighty rivers Poured incessant from above And Heaven's peace and perfect justice Kissed a guilty world in love For more information please contact Don Fallon on 07857 500406, email [email protected] or visit www.nourishingsap.com.
