Here is another picture of the traditional method of starting fire. Take a pieces of dry wood and cut out a flat surface area on one side and than take another small sharpened stick and rub forward and backwards to start the fire .This traditional way of starting fire is commonly used in the Bismarck archipelago of Papua New Guinea.

BAMBOOBAMBOO

Bamboo is a useful plant in Papua New Guinea. In the early days our people use bamboo to fetch water from the river or creek and bring it to the house for cooking and drinking . Bamboo's are used also as building materials. It is split open and woven into blinds for walls and flooring of houses.
