“PASTOR PAUL’S PARAGRAPHS”

Dear Members and Friends of the Sweetwater Baptist Church:

I want to begin this newsletter article by saying “THANK YOU!” I write this article with a heart over-

flowing with gratitude and appreciation. First of all, on behalf of Bobbi, Alyss, Chandler, and myself, we

wish to say “thank you” for your many cards and expressions of love during the Christmas season. We truly

appreciate your tremendous generosity and thoughtfulness. Secondly, let me say “thank you” for your pray-

ers and support during the home going of my sweet daddy, Howard Noe. His unexpected death occurred on

December 7th. He received the greatest Christmas gift of all – HEAVEN! I am so happy for him that he has

been ultimately healed and is in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for your expressions of

love during our time of bereavement. A special “thanks” goes out to the many of you who made the long trip

to Rock Hill to be with us at the hospital, the funeral home, and the funeral. We are truly overwhelmed and

grateful for your kindness and concern. We are so blessed to serve such a loving and caring church family.

As we enter 2015 I am reminded of a great promise in Hebrews 13:5, “. . . I will never leave thee, nor

forsake thee.” This verse reminds us that no matter what we face in 2015 the Lord is always going to be with

us. There are several wonderful truths in this verse that should encourage us as we face the opportunities and

challenges of a brand new year.

First of all, there is the CERTAINTY of the Lord’s Presence. This verse gives us the assurance that God

will always be with us. He never leaves us! God is always with us through the third person of the Trinity –

the Holy Spirit. Jesus told His disciples in John 14:16, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you anoth-

er Helper, to be with you forever.” ESV His presence is constant and sure.

Secondly, there is the COMFORT of the Lord’s Presence. Knowing that God is always with us should

give us great comfort. David said in Psalm 23:4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of

death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” One of the titles used

for the Holy Spirit is “Comforter” (John 14:26 KJV). We can have sweet comfort in the abiding presence of

Almighty God.

Thirdly, there is the CONFIDENCE of the Lord’s Presence. The abiding presence of the Lord should give

us confidence no matter what we face in 2015. Psalm 118:8 reminds us, “It is better to trust in the Lord than

to put confidence in man.” There is a popular inspirational prayer that illustrates confidence in Almighty

God. It goes like this, “Lord, help me remember that nothing will happen today that we can't handle togeth-

er.” 2015 is going to be a great year because of the promise of God’s presence.

It is a Privilege and Joy to Serve You!

With a Pastor’s Love,

Brother Paul Philippians 1:3
