1. Institutional and Regulatory details

1.1. Message from the CEO

Ubuhle HR is a proudly South African company with a steadfast belief in the potential and ability of

South Africans to individually and collectively make a positive and lasting contribution to the world.

We sincerely believe that the only way to grow the South African economy and address the high

unemployment rate is to focus on the training and development of our people. Since 2004, we manage

and deliver accredited learnerships, skills programmes and short courses for corporate clients. Over the

past decade we have assisted hundreds of unemployed and employed individuals to acquire nationally

recognised qualifications. Our interventions have resulted in many previously unemployed individuals

gaining work experience, a qualification and even more importantly, full time employment. Our training

has assisted many employed individuals to advance in their careers and has aided clients in achieving

BBBEE targets through skills development.

with the W&R Seta (No. 439) and has extension of scope

with the Services Seta. All our programmes meet full

regulatory compliance and are registered on the

National Qualifications Framework by the South African

Qualifications Authority.

In addition to our accredited programmes, we also offer

a large variety of non-accredited short courses and

development programmes designed to specifically

address critical skills needs in industry.

2. Overview of Training Academy

The Ubuhle Training Academy offers comprehensive SAQA registered learnerships and skills

programmes, as well as business specific non-accredited development programmes and short courses.

The Wholesale and Retail Academy specialises in qualifications, part – qualifications and development

programmes for employees at different levels in a wholesale and retail environment, which address

career- and succession planning strategies, and critical/scarce skills across the sector.

The Management and Business Academy specialises in management and business qualifications as well

as development programmes applicable to most business environments. This Academy caters for first

qualifications and job specific development that apply to most business environments.

in Professional Selling

(DPPS)

Managing one-self and the relationships with clients, suppliers,

peers and other stakeholders forms the core of the Programme and

provides the foundation for the subsequent fundamental modules

that cover the soft- and hard skills required by the sales professional.

Programme (SDP)

This programme is aimed at newly appointed managers, company

supervisors and team leaders (Patterson C). It helps supervisors

understand their roles and provides them with tools for achieving

sustainable organizational goals. It focuses upon setting clear

outputs for subordinates and monitoring these in line with

improving performance and productivity.

The Management Development Programme (Patterson D) has as its

core purpose the empowerment of high performing managers with

best practice leadership skills.

3. Enrolments, registration and delivery sites 3.1. Accredited learnerships, skills programmes and single unit standards:

Companies:

Regardless whether the training will be Seta or company funded, all learners will be required to

complete the prescribed Seta agreement form and furnish certified copies of their ID document and

highest educational qualifications. Unless these documents are submitted to the relevant Seta, learners

cannot be registered on the applicable Seta’s system and will not be eligible to achieve nationally

recognised credits and certification.

A minimum of 8 learners per site is required, unless learners can be combined with learners from

another company. Both employed and unemployed learners qualify.

Private individuals:

Private individuals interested in enrolling for an accredited learnership, skills programme or single unit

standard will be required to complete the prescribed Seta agreement form and furnish certified copies

of their ID document and highest educational qualifications. Unless these documents are submitted to

the relevant Seta, learners cannot be registered on the applicable Seta’s system and will not be eligible

to achieve nationally recognised credits and certification.

Private individuals also need to be employed in order to be able to apply theory in practice and complete

compulsory Portfolio of Evidence activities in the workplace.

Important note: Accredited programmes for private individuals will only roll out when a minimum of 8

learners have registered and paid in full.

3.2. Non-accredited programmes and courses:

Non-accredited development programmes and short courses are run on request of a company or as

public programmes when advertised as such.

3.3. Delivery sites:

Companies:

On-site: All programmes and courses can be delivered on-site for companies, on the condition that the

venue complies with occupational health and safety regulations and is conducive to learning.

Off-site: Where adequate on-site facilities are not available, Ubuhle HR will source an acceptable off-

site venue to accommodate the learners.

Public programmes:

Public programmes will be delivered at suitable venues sourced by Ubuhle HR in areas where these

programmes will be made available.

Delivery sites: Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

Qualification ID 49280 (126 credits) Purpose of qualification The purpose of this Certificate is to equip learners to understand and

acquaint themselves with the underlying principles of all the major

areas related to distribution within the Wholesale & Retail sector,

thus enabling them to become more effective employees. The

Certificate in Wholesale and Retail Distribution, NQF Level 2, is

learners with a grounding in all areas of Distribution. This may

enable them not only to increase their productivity within the

Wholesale and Retail Sector but also to apply their learning in

various other business environments.

Outcomes of qualification After successful completion of this qualification learners will be able

Entry level Learners are required to do Communication at a first language and

a second language level.

All Level 03 Communication Unit Fundamental Standards relate to a

second language and Level 04 to first language.

Learners with a Grade 12 Certificate with a pass in a first and second

Qualification ID 63409 (123 credits) Purpose of qualification This qualification will serve as the second in the Wholesale and Retail

Operations learning pathway and provide a basis for further learning.

While the qualifying learners will experience personal growth and

development, workplace succession planning will be more readily

achieved.

The operational process includes; ordering stock, receiving,

Method of assessment Learners will be assessed by completing a knowledge questionnaire

and compiling Portfolios of Evidence.

Once Learners have been declared competent and their assessment

outcome have been verified by the W&RSETA they will earn the

credits linked to unit standards making up the skills programme

/qualification.

These credits will be registered on the National Learners' Records

Database.

Ubuhle HR handles all administrative matters around the management and delivery of accredited

programmes and ensures that all Seta procedures and requirements are adhered to.

7.2. Learner support

Our appointed assessors and project co-ordinators are available to the learners for telephonic support

and coaching while learners compile their POE’s.

Additional coaching support will be scheduled to assist with the completion of POE’s where required.

7.3. Training methodology

Accredited programmes are facilitated by assessors registered at the Seta against the qualifications.

Non-accredited programmes are facilitated by competent subject matter specialists, who utilise the

following techniques to ensure that the sessions are practical and experiential: Discussion; Role Plays;

Exercises & Case Studies; Videos/DVDs; and Formative Assessments.
