An integral part of ONGC’s employee- centered policies is it’s thrust on their knowledge up gradation and development.
ONGC Academy, previously known as Institute of Management Development (IMD), which has an ISO 9001 certification, along with 7 other training institutes, play a key role in keeping our workforce at pace with global standards.
ONGC Academy, is the premier nodal agency responsible for developing the human resource of ONGC. It also focuses on marketing its HRD expertise in the field of Exploration & Production of Hydrocarbons.

OBJECTIVES OF TRAINING IN ONGC
To develop entrepreneurship and expertise par excellence through training and retaining.
To prepare executives to meet the strategic business goals in the fast changing environment.
To develop training tools and techniques to facilitate effective learning.
To organize interactive workshops in upstream industry areas.
To inculcate quality consciousness. To promote IT as an instruments of organizational

TRAINING ACTIVITIES IN ONGC
The academy conducts approximate 250 programs
catering to over 5000 executives and over a lakh training
man days every year.
The vast training programs of ONGC are divided into the following spectrums:-
1. Induction Training 2. In-service Training
Induction Training
ONE YEAR INDUCTION TRAINING PROGRAM FOR GRADUATE TRAINEES
Induction training of ONGC is divided into the following modules:-
1. Orientation Introductory Training (OIT) and Multi-disciplinary Theoretical Familiarization Training (MDIT)
2. Multidisciplinary Field Familiarization Training (MDFF)
3. Functional Specialized Training (ST)
4. Functional on the job training (FJIT)
5. Final Evaluation (FE)
Multidisciplinary Field Familiarization Training (MDFF)
This module covers exposure of the newly inducted trainees to
the various field operations in the following areas:- Introduction to Exploration management Exploration of Hydrocarbons Introduction to drilling technology Introduction to production technology Introduction to technical services General management Financial management Material management Information management
IN-SERVICE TRAININGBy in-service training program we mean the periodical
training given to the working employees to enhance their knowledge and skills so that they can work efficiently
