Governor’s Foreward

Kenya School of Monetary Studies was established in 1997 as a school of the Central Bank of Kenya. The School’s main objective was and remains, to build human capacity in support of the Bank’s Mandate. Over the years, the School has continued to respond to the Bank’s training needs, emerging market challenges and business opportunities that arise from economic, business and regulatory developments in addition to regional integration initiatives.

Reflecting on the Bank’s statutory responsibility of ensuring a sound and stable financial system, I am pleased to release the School’s 2020 Training Calendar in which our focus is on Technical and Specialized courses in central banking and the wider financial sector; specifically targeting existing knowledge and skills gap that have been identified. We also focus on hosting high level conferences, seminars and workshops on emerging and topical issues at national, regional and global levels; all of which aim to bring together stakeholders to share their experiences and challenges in addressing these issues.

In our resolve and commitment to deliver high quality technical and specialized training interventions and conferences, we leverage on the knowledge base and expertise of selected strategic partners in the design, content development and delivery of our programs. It is our desire to give the best training interventions that satisfy industry needs and expectations.

We look forward to welcoming more delegates to our programs planned for 2020.

Kenya School of Monetary Studies plays a key and strategic role in human capital development in support of the Central Bank of Kenya’s core responsibilities of monetary and price stability. The overarching objective of the School is to develop human skills and knowledge to enhance staff performance and productivity. This is in cognizance of the critical contribution that skilled human capital makes towards the Bank’s service delivery, and overall soundness and stability of the financial system. The School’s training interventions specifically focus on the knowledge and skills gap of staff in the Bank and other areas of mutual interest within the banking industry.

In line with the Bank’s 2018 – 2021 Strategic Plan, the School’s focus is on developing human capital in areas of Technical and Specialized Training in response to the training needs identified in the Bank and the banking industry. This year’s Training Calendar contains programs that are demand driven and therefore offer practical solutions to knowledge and skills gap that pose challenges to staff in their service delivery at various levels.
