A Komatsu apprenticeship is a great way to get a head start in a career of your choice. You have the opportunity to be paid while you learn on the job and develop nationally recognised qualifications and skills along the way.

The skills you develop will also provide the basis for further education and training over the course of your working life.

Types of Apprenticeship Programs available Komatsu offers three key apprenticeship programs across the country, including: • Plant Mechanic• Electrician• Auto Electrician Potential Career Paths In addition to a job specific to your apprenticeship, there are also other potential career paths an apprenticeship can prepare and train you for, including:• Leading Hand• Supervisor• Service Manager

• Technical Service Representatives• Technical Trainers • Sales/Branch/National Managers Responsibilities of Apprentices As an apprentice you have certain responsibilities including:• Attending training sessions at TAFE • Completing all assignments and other

assessments set by TAFE • Maintaining a record book or work

evidence guide • Obeying all instructions given by your

employer in the workplace • Following the training plan to ensure

you obtain your qualifications.

WhAT IS AN APPRENTICEShIP?

Why START AN APPRENTICEShIP?

An apprenticeship is a training agreement between an employer and an employee, where the apprentice or trainee learns the skills needed for a particular occupation or trade.

An apprenticeship is run on a full-time basis and can be used as a valuable start to a rewarding career in an industry you want to work in.

As an apprentice, you can:

• Learn valuable, nationally recognised job skills and qualifications

• Get paid while learning

• Combine formal training from TAFE or a private Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with workplace-based training

• Access to Komatsu specific training programs

Komatsu Apprenticeship Programs run for 4 years, full time and are a combination of on and off the job Komatsu training and TAFE learning modules, including:• Induction and Safety• First Aid Certificate• Permits to Work

• Technical Skills• TAFE Certificate III• Life Skills• Business Skills• IT Applications • Presentation Skills

With a Komatsu Apprenticeship, you will be provided with every opportunity to learn and succeed and in return we expect you to excel in everything you do.

You are here to learn and we encourage you to ask as many questions as you like. There is no limit to the opportunities in front of you - grab them with both hands.

Applying for a Komatsu Apprenticeship is easy! We actively commence recruitment in July/August the year prior to commencement. During this time advertising will be placed on the Komatsu Australia website and recruitment site SEEK.

When applying, applicants will be asked to complete an apprentice application form and attach a current CV.

Only applications received by this process will be considered. Any enquiries can be sent to [email protected] .

Additionally, Komatsu offers short term work experience for all Year 10, 11 and 12 students. If you are interested in participating in this program, please forward your contact details, current CV and dates you would like to complete work experience to [email protected].

1. All applications received by Komatsu will go through a initial screening process

2. Applicants will be notified as to whether their application will progress to the next stage. Successful applicants will be invited to attend a pre-selection test

3. Applicants who are successful in the pre-selection test, will be invited for an interview with Komatsu

5. A selection panel will then review the details of each interview

6. Applicants who have been selected from the interview process, will then be invited to complete a pre-employment medical review, along with reference checking

7. Upon the successful completion of all stages in the application process, the applicant will receive a letter of offer

JAMIE WhINCUP KOMATSU’S APPRENTICE MENTOR

As part of Komatsu’s Apprentice Development Program, you will also be mentored by Red Bull’s racing star and four time V8 Supercar champion, Jamie Whincup.

As the official apprentice mentor, Jamie will be visiting the apprentices personally as he tours Australia as part of the V8 Supercar season. The mentorship program will focus on the benefits of the apprenticeship and demonstrate the benefits of teamwork in a working environment.
