Small farm mechanization is very crucial to improving the productivity in rainfed areas.

Small implements help farmers to complete agricultural operations in time. This is very

crucial for exploiting favorable weather conditions to the best possible extent. But many of

the farm implements/machinery manufacturing and supply firms are located around big

cities, and are unable to extend the repair and maintenance services to rural areas. Due to

non- availability of appropriately trained manpower in agriculture machinery service sector,

large-scale adoption of useful machinery is adversely affected. To bridge this gap and to

enhance the capacity of rural youth, a training programme on “ Repair and maintenance of

electric motors, pumsets and allied agriculture machinery” was taken up in collaboration with

Swamy Ramananda Tirtha Rural Training Institute. The trained rural youth can provide

required maintenance and service support to the rural areas besides earning livelihood for

themselves.
