About BA Photography

The course follows syllabus prescribed by the UGC and offers 26 Core papers, 6 Generic Electives. The course includes 2 AECC compulsory modules, that is, English Communication and Environmental Science of 2 credits each and 7 SEC modules of 2 credits each which include MIT World Peace University modules.

BA Photography is a three years’ full time undergraduate program of Trimester Pattern with Credit System offering aspiring photographers to specialize in any of the six subjects namely-Fashion & Portrait Photography, Advertising & Commercial Photography, Nature & Wildlife Photography, Photojournalism & Documentary Photography, Image Post Processing & Designing and Fine Art Photography.

MIT-WPU SOP was established with the aim of reaching out to large number of aspirants who wish to pursue photography as a career or a hobby. An initiative of MIT group of institutes under the umbrella of MIT World Peace University, dedicated to providing quality education in photography. The goal for MIT-WPU SOP is to develop 21st century professionals in the area of Photography based on Social Sensitivity and Ethical Approach to empower society.M I T-W P U S O P p r ov i d e s a p l a t f o r m f o r photographers to give expression to their originality and create powerful visual communication. Photography is one of those rare activities that present a wonderful combination of technology and

aesthetics. The school of photography at MIT-WPU endeavors to ensure excellence through integrity and ethics.The school is associated with veteran photographers as mentors and teaching faculty. Through them it transpires quality photography knowledge, techniques and skills to the students. With the best of teaching instructors, computer labs, studios and other facilities, the institute has established itself as an anchor to many quality photographers.

About Diploma in Photography

Diploma in Photography is a one-year part-time course that comprises of everything from Basic to Advance photographic studies. The course ensures to build a strong technical and aesthetical base. We believe that scientific foundation of photographic art is essential to enable students to efficiently apply technical knowledge to his/her creativity. We aim to groom our students to become technically and aesthetically sound photographers, who can cater to various photography genres.

Received a good theoretical knowledge of

photography and learned all the important aspects

through practical assignments. The faculty, seniors

and staff was very supportive. They're cooperative,

addit ional knowledge from the renowned

photographers who came as visiting faculty. Overall

it was a nice experience for me to learn photography

The learning-by- doing principle has been advocated widely and in many forms. The three-year program is an intensive, hands-on program des igned to t ra in asp i r i ng p ro fess iona l photographers in the art, craft, and business of contemporary image making.

Ÿ Building understanding of the visual language and aesthetic theories of photography to be applied in creative work.

Ÿ Imparting Knowledge of the history of photography, aesthetics and technology.

Ÿ Imparting working knowledge of industry standard, marketing and business practices.

Ÿ Ensuring an understanding of characteristics of available and artificial light

Ÿ Building Proficiency in the use of Light room as an organizational tool, Photoshop as a non-destructive editing tool and other image editing and designing softwares.

Ÿ Imparting comprehensive knowledge and proficiency with lighting tools, digital camera systems, digital output systems and the video controls on DSLRs

Ÿ Defining & developing ability to produce photography work that is consistent with high professional standards.

Eligibility

Ÿ H.S.C. (10+2) with min 50% marks and English as a compulsory subject. (12th Appearing candidates can also apply)

Ÿ Any Basic DSLR camera with Kit Lens is mandatory.

Fee Structure

BA Photography Diploma Photography

Ÿ Medium of instruction for the course and examinations is English. Thus students must possess enough knowledge of the language.

Ÿ Any DSLR camera with basic kit lens is mandatory. Apart from that, students may buy equipment according to their needs and wish.

Ÿ Minimum educational qualification - 10th passed with 50% & English as compulsory.

Ÿ Despite being part-time, the course is rigorous and extremely demanding at times. Students must be prepared to be able to cope with the strict submission deadlines and work assigned to them.

BA and Diploma: personal interview + 12th or 10th marks = merit list
