THE SCHEME & LAYOUT

Fold Out Stage

From it’s current tired and sorry state, The Living Room will be transformed into a modern day, industrial meets Scandinavian space and perform as a revolving art work area where one can eat lunch or enjoy a drink. A mix of Scandinavian inspired contemporary furniture and a simple colour scheme will compliment the high ceilings, pillars and abundance of natural light.

Whilst at night the space is transformed into a relaxed live performance or cinema space with low lighting controlled by the user and a caboret feel of the 1960’s.

Dark Grey along the top of the wall will help make the space seem lower whilst the beams painted a reflective light will help bounce natural daylight around the room and give a connection to the light colour-ed, untreated plywood flooring.

A lighter grey at the bottom will contrast the upper and also the black framed art-work on the walls.

Finally whilte will highlight the ceiling, door frames and and ceiling connecting the scheme.

This all gives a blank-ish canvas for the accent pieces, being the furniture and col-ours from the artwork.

ENTRY THREE

The artwork will be a range of students work from all over the school and be specially picked by tutors and other students to be exhibited for a period of time before being replaced, whether that be per se-mester or month etc. The black frames will contrasts against the light grey wall.

The mix and match furniture will pop more from the blank canvas colour scheme in the room and with a series of hand picked pieces from around Leeds (keeping it local). These will compliment one another with a range of woods, fabrics and styles, a ranged to make the most of the space for live performance or cinema screenings.

THE LOOK

The nigh-time performances, without the furniture in situ for the image, it’s easy to see the low level lighting changes the space entirely and gives a different dynamic to the usual daily program.

During the day, again without furniture to see the merit of the space the darker band is illumi-nated and the white beams and pillars make the space appear larger, whilst the lights are height-ened to make it more manageable and easier to manoeuvre around. The natural light brightly illumi-nates artwork.
