Transforming Daily Duty Into Divine Delight

Colossians 3:17-2

1 Corinthians 10: 31-33

The Gospel is a message to the “Whosoevers” of the world.

The Gospel is also a message about the Whatsoevers.

I. The Master of Whatsoever We Do (Col. 3:17)

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

A. Why are many believers unhappy in their lives?

B. Many are seeking fellowship with those who live only for this world and its pleasures.

C. The result of our compromising lifestyle is dangerous.

D. There should be no division in the

sacred & secular for us. - Whatever you do in word or deed…

E. Christ should be the Master of all

we do. - In word or in deed

II. The Manner of Whatsoever We Do (Col. 3:23)

- Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.

A. With a good and willing heart…not of compliant necessity.

B. Do everything enthusiastically…

C. How to find real joy in living.

“He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”

Then tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him, ‘Teacher, what shall we do?’

And he said to them, ‘Collect no more than what is appointed for you.”

Likewise the solders asked him saying, “And what shall we do?” So he said to them, “Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.” (Luke 3:11-14)

III. The Motive of Whatsoever We Do (1 Cor. 10:31)

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

A. Living for the glory of God.

Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.

3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

B. This delight has to do with how what we do, affects others.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matt. 5:16)

Will my life make a positive difference to those who are watching me?

Will my every word and action bring glory to God?

Will my conduct bring others to Christ?

It’s not about you;

It’s not about me;

IT’S ALL ABOUT HIM!

If Christ is not Lord of all…

He is not Lord at all!
