Q. What if I still have a balance on the TransitChek Card by thetime I get a new Card?

A. If you haven’t used the entire value of one TransitChek Cardyou can transfer the remaining balance to a new TransitChekCard. Balance transfers can be made through the TransitChekweb site at www.tccard.transitcenter.com or by calling1.888.288.CHEK (2435).

Q. Do I need to keep my Card after I’ve used up all the value?You should keep your TransitChek Card until the fare mediavalue purchased is depleted, or the benefit month is over,whichever is later. If your transit operator needs to reverse acharge, you will need your TransitChek Card number toprocess your refund.

Is it true that MTA New York City Transit no longer accepts TransitChek Vouchers?

Yes. In 2007, MTA New York City Transit discontinued itsacceptance of transit vouchers, including the TransitChekVouchers, at subway station booths.TransitChek Vouchers arestill accepted by other transit operators including MTA Metro-North Railroad, MTA Long Island Rail Road, PATH and NJTRANSIT. And you can still purchase the MetroCard usingTransitChek Vouchers at participating MetroCard retail outlets,like Hudson News.
