What is Cerebral Palsy?
The part of the brain that controls muscle tone is damaged.
The part of the brain that is damaged will impact what parts of the body are affected.

Gavin
Gavin is a student with Cerebral Palsy (an Orthopedic Impairment) who is also gifted (i.e., he is twice exceptional).
Diagnosis: Age 3, Wheel Chair Use: Age 5 (exaggerated on right side)

Present Level of Performance
Strengths: Math, History, Social Skills
Interests: Basketball, History, Math
Areas to Target: Self-Determination (asking for assistance), Language Arts (written expression)

Goals
Postsecondary EmploymentGavin will be employed in a history or math related job part time within one year of graduation from high
school.
Postsecondary Education
Gavin will be enrolled in a four year college as a History major, Math major, or Computer Science major.
Independent Living/Community Participation
With the help of a Personal Assistant, Gavin will live independently in a dormitory setting at college.

B Gavin performs well in science. However, he often becomes tired toward the end of each class period, and struggles to complete work.

B Gavin has great ideas, but difficulty with written expression despite accommodations. He often becomes tired and frustrated when asked to write longer assignments. Gavin enjoys reading.
