The PHS teachers and staff are looking forward to your first day at Parkville High School. We hope your summer was enjoyable and you are returning to school rejuvenated. You are the first BCPS students to participate in an Early Entry day- a sneak peekat your new school. Our hope is your early introductions to PHS staff members and tour of the building helps ease anxieties related to the first day. As you adjust to being a Parkville Knight, please ask questions and utilize the numerous resources within the building to support you! As your administrator, one of my roles is to hold each of you accountable for making good decisions. More importantly, I am tasked with advocating for your needs. I encourage you to communicate if you are struggling academically or think you are ready for a more challenging placement (ie., Honors or GT). Our goal is for you to be challenged but not overwhelmed. Please seek opportunities to be involved in the school community. My goal is for each of you to participate in at least one extracurricular activity! This fall, we will be sharing information about clubs and activities at PHS. Welcome Class of 2020! The PHS teachers and staff are looking forward to your first day at Parkville High School. We hope your summer was enjoyable and you are returning to school rejuvenated. Get a good night’s sleep

Transportation Issues? Please contact Jamie Scalice in the front office with any transportation concerns.

Applying for Free and Reduced Meals Go to the website www.bcps.org on the site you will find the application link at the bottom of the page (scroll down ) under the heading PARENTS. You will find the application to fill out online. The online application is the fastest way to apply, but you may also obtain a paper application. See the front office or any cashier in the either cafeteria. Please make sure to get applications completed as soon as possible. Only one application per family is needed, make sure all students are listed on the application in the household including the students going to other schools.

If you need to pay for meals the prices from last school year are still in effect. Breakfast meals cost $1.40 and lunch meals cost $3.00.

A Message from your School Counselor

Hello Class of

2020! This is an

exciting time as you

begin your high school

experience. For the

next four years, I will

be your school

counselor which means

I am here to support

you through the years

and prepare you for life

beyond high

school. There are so

many opportunities

available to you and I

encourage you to take

advantage of this

experience. Starting

this new chapter can

also be a little

overwhelming. If you

are having issues with

academics, family,

friends, or yourself, I

am here to help. I look

forward to getting to

know you all and

making this a great

year.

Parkville High School Healthy Suite and Wellness Center

Our Health Suite is open from 8:00 AM-10:45 AM and again from 11:30AM-

1:15PM. We can assist you in an emergency when we are closed; just report to

the main office and assistance will be provided if necessary. All discretionary

medication forms must be competed and returned to school in order for medica-

tion to be dispensed. If regular medication is required at school, a written order

from your doctor along with a parent signature and pharmacy labeled supply of the

medication must be provided.

Our office also has a wellness center component which is open on Tuesdays and

Thursdays from 9:00AM-11:30AM. The nurse practitioner can provide vaccines to

following students as well follow up care after a health suite visits or advice.

Forms required for the Health Suite and Wellness Center can be obtained from the health suite or online at https://www.bcps.org/offices/sss/health/ This school year, 9th grade students will be required to have the following vac-

cines:
