City of 100 villages. City of sport. Youngest city in the region. Welco-ming to children and families. Our city is versatile and colourful - thanks to its people. Although Hennef has only existed in its current form since the boundary modifi cation of 1969, all who live here share a sense of be-

longing to Hennef. We also have very close ties with our villages, hamlets and districts. Nothing happens in Hennef without the village communities.

Villages are one aspect of our region, while the urban centre with its manifold shopping opportunities and the excellent infra-structure of our commercial zones are others. Located in the Co-logne/Bonn region, we are part of the largest economic area at the heart of Europe. Th is brochure will show you all of the diversity our city has to off er. You will see that Hennef is not just worth a visit – it’s a great place to live. Th e people of Hennef themselves are the principal reason for this – their tolerance, cosmopolitan view of the world and typical Rhenish geniality ensure quick friendships are struck up with visitors and new arrivals to the re-gion alike.

100 villages. Hennef, ville sportive. Hennef, ville la plus jeune de la région. Hennef, ville aux aménagements favorables pour les enfants et les familles. Ville colorée aux multiples facettes. Bien entendu, c’est à ces citoyennes et citoyens que la ville doit son atmosphère. Certes, Hennef, dans sa confi guration actuelle, n’existe que depuis 1969, année de la réorganisation des commu-nes, mais le sentiment d’être un habitant de Hennef est partagé par tous ses concitoyens. En même temps, un lien très fort nous unit également à nos villages, hameaux et quartiers. À Hennef, tout repose sur les communautés villageoises.

Il y a d’une part les villages et d’autre part le centre urbain, avec ses nombreuses rues commerçantes et l’excellente infrastructure de nos zones industrielles. Situés dans la région Cologne Bonn, nous sommes partie intégrante d’une importante plaque tournan-te économique située en plein cœur de l’Europe. stu wsi, miasto sportu i najmłodsze miasto w całym regionie, a także miasto przyjazne dzieciom i miasto absolutnie prorodzinne, miasto charakteryzujące się wielką różnorodnością i miasto pełne kolorów. To wszystko zawdzięczamy oczywiście naszym mieszkańcom. Wprawdzie Hennef w obecnej formie istnieje do-piero od reformy komunalnej w 1969 roku, ale wspólne poczucie bycia obywatelem Hennef łączy jego wszystkich mieszkańców bez wyjątku.

Hennef jest również bardzo związane z położonymi w jego gra-nicach wioskami, osadami i osiedlami, gdyż bez tworzących je wspólnot nasze miasto nie mogłoby się rozwijać ani normalnie funkcjonować. Tutejsze osady i wsie to jedno oblicze Hennef, a zurbanizowane centrum z licznymi sklepami i wielostronną infrastrukturą terenów przemysłowych to drugie, zupełnie prze-ciwstawne oblicze naszego miasta. Dzięki swojemu położeniu w obrębie zespołu urbanistycznego, jaki tworzą miasta Kolonia i Bonn, jesteśmy częścią wielkiej, tętniącej życiem aglomeracji w samym sercu Europy. W niniejszej broszurze staramy się przybliżyć czytelnikom różnorodność naszego miasta oraz przekonać ich, że nasze miasto nie tylko warto odwiedzić, ale także w nim zamieszkać. 100 VillagesA common expression in the area states that Hennef is the

“City of 100 Villages”. Th ere are indeed some 100 villages and hamlets dotted throughout the scenic countryside surrounding the city (22,000 inhabitants) and the second centre, Uckerath (3,100 inhabitants), from Altglück with one inhabitant and Bö-dingen with 400 to Weingartsgasse with 200. Th e town of Blan-kenberg is also counted as one of these villages, along with Geis-tingen, steeped in tradition, and the formerly independent municipality of Lauthausen. 46,000 people live in all of these districts put together, spread out over 106 square kilometres at the start of the Sieg valley estuary between the Bergisches Land region, Rhenish Bay and the Siebengebirge and Westerwald mountain ranges.

Hennef as it is today was formed from three former municipa-lities (Uckerath, Lauthausen and Hennef ) in the boundary mo-difi cation of 1969. Since 1934, Hennef has borne the byname (Sieg) after its own in brackets and has been recognised as a city since 1981. To this day, Hennef is a captivating mix of urban fl air and rural charm. Active community life in the city is supported by more than 300 clubs and associations, including at least 50 sports clubs with over 11,000 members put together. Th e city centre, with its boulevard-style “Frankfurter Strasse” main shop-ping district, the centres of Uckerath and Geistingen and the commercial zones are all important hubs for the people of Hen-nef and many living in the surrounding hinterland. Th e historical cultural landscape of the lower Sieg valley and town of Blanken-berg-Bödingen which has evolved over the centuries and the many trekking and biking trails and bridle paths are some of the best tourist destinations North Rhine-Westphalia has to off er.

Les cent villagesHennef est la « ville des cent villages » comme on l’appelle com-

munément dans la région. Et en eff et : aux alentours du centre névralgique, comptant 22 000 habitants et de la seconde ville avec ses 3 100 habitants se situe toute une constellation de quel-que 100 villages et hameaux au paysage pictural, de Altglück, avec son seul et unique habitant, en passant par Bödingen et ses 400 âmes, jusqu’à Weingartsgasse, où résident 200 personnes. La ville de Blankenberg fait également partie de ces villages, de même que Geistingen, très riche en traditions ainsi que la commune autrefois indépendante de Lauthausen. Le nombre d’habitants de toutes les communes réunies s’élève à 46 000 personnes. Cette constellation s’étend sur une superfi cie de 106 kilomètres carrés, au pied de la vallée de l’embouchure de la Sieg, bercée entre le massif montagneux du Bergisch Land, la baie rhénane, les sept montagnes et la forêt du Westerwald.

La ville de Hennef telle qu’on la connaît aujourd’hui est née du regroupement, survenu lors de la réorganisation communale de 1969, de trois anciennes communes : Uckerath, Lauthausen et Hennef. Depuis 1934, la commune porte également le nom du fl euve « Sieg » placé entre parenthèses et depuis 1981, Hennef a acquis le statut de ville. Ce qui fait le charme de Hennef, jusqu’à aujourd’hui, c’est ce mélange réussi entre d’une part son atmos-phère urbaine et d’autre part son ambiance pittoresque si caracté-ristique des villages de campagne. La vie communautaire est très intense : la ville compte plus de 300 associations, dont quelque 50 associations sportives et plus de 11 000 membres. Le centre-ville, avec son artère commerçante « Frankfurter Strasse », conçue à la manière d’une avenue, ainsi que les centres de Uckerath et Geistingen sont, à l’instar des zones industrielles, des lieux très fréquentés par les habitants et Hennef et des environs. Le paysage culturel historique, qui s’est forgé sur plusieurs siècles, dénommé : « Vallée inférieure de la Sieg : Ville de Blankenberg-Bödingen », mais également les nombreux chemins de randonnée, itinéraires de randonnée cycliste et chemins équestres font partie des plus belles destinations touristiques de la région de Rhénanie du Nord Westphalie.

Ma to swoje uzasadnienie w rzeczywistości, gdyż centralną dzielnicę Hennef, liczącą 22.000 mieszkańców oraz stanowiącą swoiste drugie centrum dzielnicę Uckerath liczącą 3.100 mieszkańców, otacza około 100 malowniczo położonych wsi i osad – począwszy od zamieszkałej przez jedną osobę wioski Altglück, a skończywszy na Bödingen (400 mieszkańców) czy Weingartsgasse (200 mieszkańców). Do grupy tej zalicza się również miasteczko Blankenberg, a także znane z wielowiekowej tradycji Geistingen, czy też będące niegdyś samodzielną gminą miasteczko Lauthausen. Cały administracyjny obszar naszego mi-asta zamieszkuje w sumie 46.000 osób, a jego całkowita po-wierzchnia wynosi 106 km2. Obszar ten rozciąga się od skraju doliny ujścia rzeki Sieg pomiędzy Bergisch Land, zatoką Rheini-sche Bucht, Siebengebirge i pasmami górskimi Westerwald.

Dzisiejsze Hennef powstało w wyniku reformy administracyj-nej w roku 1969 z połączenia trzech gmin - Uckerath, Lauthau-sen i Hennef. Od 1934 r. po nazwie miejscowości dodaje się w nawiasie nazwę rzeki Sieg, a od 1981 roku Hennef posiada status miasta. Do dzisiaj Hennef urzeka harmonijnym połączeniem miejskiego szyku i wiejskiego uroku. Mieszkańcy naszego miasta są bardzo aktywni, a w mieście działa ponad 300 różnego rodzaju stowarzyszeń i klubów, w tym 50 klubów sportowych liczących ponad 11.000 członków. Życie miasta, jego mieszkańców oraz mieszkańców okolicznych miejscowości koncentruje się w śródmieściu, o którego charakterze stanowi szeroka aleja Frank-furter Straße będąca zarazem głównym centrum handlowym mi-asta, a także w centrach dzielnic Uckerath i Geistingen oraz w li-cznych kompleksach przemysłowo-biznesowych. Business With close motorway links in all directions and quick connec-

tions to three international airports (Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt), Hennef boasts an exceptional location in the gre-ater Cologne-Bonn area. Th e Rhine-Ruhr and Rhine-Main regi-ons are also easily accessed. Th erefore, it’s no wonder that many well-known domestic and international companies have chosen to set up in Hennef in recent years. Precision mechanics, fruit juices, weighing machines, electronics, breakdown triangles, dry goods and sanitary equipment are just some of the many pro-ducts produced or marketed in Hennef to be found on supermar-ket shelves and in the workshops of successful companies in Eu-rope.

In recent years, the idea of Hennef as a city of sport has also fi red the imagination of local business. Many professional foot-ballers from Amsterdam to Zürich showcase their skills on artifi -cial turf pitches from Hennef ’s western commercial zone. Teams from home and abroad frequently come to try out one of Hennef ’s artifi cial turf pitches and convince themselves of the quality. Sys-tems for dividing pitches and courts and many sophisticated ideas for sports trends, such as street soccer and beach volleyball, also come from Hennef. Anyone who has watched the Olympics has also seen the prominent lettering of the Hennef company behind these.

All Hennef companies also appreciate the service from the mu-nicipal business development agency, which provides assistance on dealing with authorities, short communication channels and unbureaucratic support, all gladly provided by the manager himself also.

Nie dziwi więc fakt, iż na przestrzeni ostatnich lat swoje siedziby lub oddziały otworzyło w Hennef wiele renomowanych międzynarodowych fi rm, m.in. producentów mechaniki precyzyjnej, soków owo-cowych, wag, elektroniki, trójkątów ostrzegawczych do samocho-dów, wirówek przemysłowych, sznurów i lin z tworzyw sztucz-nych, artykułów spożywczych, pasmanterii i instalacji sanitarnych. Wiele przedmiotów, które znaleźć można na półkach hipermar-ketów całej Europy czy też w halach produkcyjnych znanych pro-ducentów zostało wyprodukowanych lub zakupionych właśnie w Hennef.

W ciągu kilku ostatnich lat dodatkowym impulsem rozwoju dla lokalnej gospodarki jest idea uczynienia Hennef miastem sportu. Wielu zawodowych piłkarzy – od Amsterdamu po Zu-rych – trenuje i gra na syntetycznej murawie rodem z tutejszego parku przemysłowego Gewerbegebiet West. City of Sport 50 sports clubs with more than 11,000 members all told, half

of them children and young people – that speaks for itself. Th e city has invested a great deal of money in its sporting infrastruc-ture over recent years. In addition to ongoing improvements to existing sports facilities, artifi cial turf pitches, small playing fi elds in Söven and Siegbogen, an outdoor sports facility in the compre-hensive school, gymnasiums in Söven and in the Siegtal primary school, a new gymnastics hall and a running track at the Educa-tion and Sports Centre have all been built. Further projects have been up-and-running since 2009, including a mini-playing fi eld on Gartenstrasse in Hennef city centre, another artifi cial turf pitch in Happerschoss, a mini-playing fi eld in Uckerath and a multi-purpose gym at Meiersheide. Th ere are also plans for a mini-playing fi eld in the Education and Sports Centre and ano-ther artifi cial turf pitch in Söven. All planning is conducted in close cooperation with the StadtSportVerband, the umbrella or-ganisation for Hennef sports clubs, which has had a signifi cant say in the planning of sports facilities in the city since the conclu-sion of the “Pact for Sport” in 2005.

To put it briefl y, the “Hennef – City of Sport” expression in use for several years is more than just a slogan. It actually harks back to the founding of the nationally famous Hennef College of Phy-sical Education of the Mittelrhein e.V. football club in 1950 and can be seen today in examples such as the children’s sports festival which has been held on Hennef ’s market square on the fi rst Sa-turday following the summer holidays since 2005. From early to late, more than 3,000 children try out all there is on off er at the festival from Hennef sports clubs, including all things from vaul-ting to tennis.

Outre la rénova-tion permanente des centres sportifs existants, de nombreux amé-nagements nouveaux ont vu le jour : citons notamment le terrain de gazon artifi ciel, les terrains de sport à Söven et dans le quartier Siegbogen, un complexe sportif extérieur dans l’établissement d’enseignement secondaire, des gymnases à Söven et à l’école pri-maire Siegtalgrundschule, un nouveau gymnase et une piste de tartan au sein du complexe scolaire et sportif. Depuis 2009, de nouveaux projets viennent se greff er aux dispositifs existants : par exemple, un mini-terrain situé Gartenstraße, au centre-ville de Hennef, un autre terrain de gazon artifi ciel à Happerschoß, un terrain de sport à Uckerath ainsi qu’un centre multisport au ni-veau de la Meiershei¬de. Un terrain multisport situé dans le com-plexe scolaire et sportif ainsi qu’un terrain de pelouse artifi cielle à Söven sont également à l’étude. Toutes les planifi cations ont lieu en étroite collaboration avec l’association sportive de la ville, le StadtSportVerband, qui dispose, en vertu du « Pacte pour le Sport » conclu en 2005, de droits de codécision très étendus en matière de planifi cation des installations sportives de la ville.

En bref : L’expression très usitée depuis quelques années de « Hennef, ville sportive » est plus qu’un simple slogan. On peut même dire qu’elle remonte à la fondation, en 1950, de l’école de sport Sportschule Hennef du club de football Fußball-Verband Mittelrhein e.V., connue dans toute l’Allemagne. Aujourd’hui, cette vocation sportive s’illustre également, par exemple, par les festivités du KinderSport-Fest, qui se déroule, chaque année, de-puis 2005, le premier samedi après les vacances scolaires d’été sur la Place du Marché de Hennef. Cette manifestation permet à plus de 3 000 enfants de tester, du matin jusqu’à la tombée de la nuit, tout l’éventail des disciplines proposées par les associations spor-tives de la ville, de la voltige au tennis.

Oprócz bieżących remontów istniejących obiektów sportowych stworzono wiele boisk ze sztuczną murawą, boiska do gier zespołowych w Söven i w Siegbogen, zbudowano odkryty kompleks sportowy przy szkole zintegrowanej (Gesamtschule), hale sportowe w Söven oraz w szkole podstawowej (Grundschule) Siegtal, a także nową salę gimnastyczną oraz tartanową bieżnię w tutejszym Ośrodku Szkolno-Sportowym. Od 2009 roku realizo-wane są kolejne obiekty, np. miniboisko przy Gartenstraße w centrum Hennef, kolejne boisko ze sztuczną murawą w Happer-schoß, kameralne boisko w Uckerath oraz hala wielofunkcyjna w Meiersheide. W planach są ponadto takie obiekty jak małe boisko w Ośrodku Szkolno-Sportowym oraz dodatkowe boisko ze sztuczną murawą w Söven. Realizacja planowanych obiektów od-bywa się w ścisłym porozumieniu z Miejskim Związkiem Sportu, który w ramach zawartego w 2005 roku „Paktu na rzecz sportu” dysponuje daleko idącym prawem głosu w sprawach dotyczących planowanych obiektów sportowych.

Popularne od kilku lat hasło „Hennef miastem sportu“ to zna-cznie więcej niż slogan. W rzeczywistości odnosi się ono do założonej w Hennef w 1950 roku i znanej w całych Niemczech szkoły sportowej stowarzyszenia Fußball-Verband Mittelrhein e.V. Families, Senior Citizens, Children “Family-friendly approved” – although somewhat cumberso-

me, this phrase encompasses the motivation of Hennef urban planners to always keep track of the wishes and needs of children, young people and families in all construction projects. Hennef is home to around 10,000 under-18s and the average age is 40.5. Th is makes Hennef younger than other municipalities in the re-gion. Hennef boasts 72 playgrounds and football areas, a youth centre, a skater park and a youth park planned by young people with a converted railway carriage as a place for them to meet up.

Th ere are lots of ways for single and working parents in Hennef to balance their family and work life. All primary schools off er all-day schools or “OGS”, the comprehensive is an all-day school and the grammar school started all-day operations in summer 2009. Up to 45 hours of care a week are provided by the nursery schools and the youth welfare offi ce has a very well equipped day care. Nursery school and all-day school fees are favourably priced. A sibling need only pay half, while each additional child goes free.

However, Hennef also has a lot to off er senior citizens, such as the senior citizens offi ce with its “Aktiv Café” in the town hall and the advisory service off ered by Verein Altenhilfe, an organisa-tion which supports senior citizens. Th e “Bürgerstiftung Alten-hilfe” foundation funds this service so that all can avail of it. In addition to this, there are well-run senior citizens’ residences and nursing homes in the city and building land designated as multi-generational living and supported living areas in Hennef-Mitte and the new “Im Siegbogen” building area, for example.

Environ 10 000 personnes âgées de moins de dix-huit ans vivent à Hennef, et l’âge moyen de la po-pulation est de 40,5 ans. Ainsi, Hennef est une ville plus jeune que les autres communes de la région. Hennef off re à la jeune population 72 terrains de sport et de football, une MJC, un parc pour skaters et le parc de la jeunesse planifi é par les jeunes eux-mêmes, avec son wagon de train réaménagé.

Les familles monoparentales et les parents exerçant une activité professionnelle disposent de nombreuses possibilités, à Hennef, pour concilier vie familiale et vie professionnelle : toutes les écoles primaires proposent des écoles à plein-temps, les dénommées Of-fene Ganztagsschulen (OGS), l’établissement d’enseignement secondaire est une école à plein-temps et le lycée a instauré lui aussi, depuis l‘été 2009, des horaires à plein-temps. Les frais d’inscription pour les jardins d’enfants et les OGS sont peu élevés. Le second enfant ne paye que la moitié des frais et l’inscription est gratuite à partir du troisième enfant.

Mais la ville de Hennef a plus d’une corde à son arc également en matière d’off re aux seniors. À titre d’exemple, citons, notam-ment, le bureau des seniors, le « Aktiv Cafe » au sein de la Mairie ou les prestations de conseil proposées par l’Association d’aide aux personnes âgées « Verein Altenhilfe ». La fondation d’aide aux personnes âgées « Bür¬gerstiftung Altenhilfe » assure le fi nance-ment de ces off res, ce qui les rend accessibles à tout le monde. Au-delà, il existe de nombreuses maisons de retraite très standing, et la ville met également à disposition des terrains de construction spécialement réservés à la construction de résidences pluri-géné-rationnelles et des logements accompagnés, par exemple au cen-tre-ville de Hennef ou dans le quartier nouveau de « Im Siegbo-gen ».

Przy każdej tutejszej szkole podstawowej (Grundschule) działają tzw. Otwarte Szkoły Całodzienne (OSC), a szkoła zintegrowana (Ge-samtschule) oferuje uczniom całodzienną opiekę i zajęcia. Również tutejsze gimnazjum rozpoczęło latem 2009 r. pracę w trybie całodniowym. Ponadto oprócz prawie 45 godzin opieki przedsz-kolnej w tygodniu Urząd ds. Dzieci i Młodzieży oferuje rodzicom dobrze zorganizowany system opieki dziennej. Opłaty w przedsz-kolach i opłaty za opiekę w Otwartych Szkołach Całodziennych nie są wysokie, przy czym za rodzeństwo płaci się jedynie połowę pełnej kwoty, a za każde kolejne dziecko opłata nie jest pobierana.

Z bogatej oferty mogą korzystać również osoby starsze. Do ulu-bionych miejsc spotkań seniorów należy Ośrodek Seniora z „Aktiv Cafe” działający w miejskim ratuszu. Godne uwagi są także punkty konsultacyjne „Stowarzyszenia na Rzecz Pomocy Osobom Stars-zym”, a ich działalność fi nansowana jest ze środków fundacji „Bür-gerstiftung Altenhilfe“, dzięki czemu z ich oferty korzystać mogą wszyscy. Ponadto w mieście działają również wzorowo zorganizo-wane i prowadzone domy seniora, a miasto oferuje na preferencyj-nych warunkach grunty pod budowę wielopokoleniowych kom-pleksów mieszkalnych, a także prowadzi specjalne jednostki mieszkalne zapewniające pensjonariuszom profesjonalną opiekę. mary and secondary school students, Hennef is the youngest city in the region and has one of the most extensive school systems in the Rhein-Sieg district. Seven primary schools, all with all-day schools, comprehensively cover the city. Th ere is also a communi-ty secondary school, the Kopernikus secondary school, the muni-cipal grammar school and, with 1,400 students, the largest school in Hennef, the comprehensive school. Th e vocational college in Hennef, the Hennef campus of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences with the Department of Social Security Ma-nagement and the Rhein-Sieg Academy for Realistic Art and De-sign complete the learning opportunities.

Since the 1950s, Hennef has also been a place where professio-nal athletes come to train. Featuring names such as Sepp Herber-ger, Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Wolfgang Overath, Lukas Podolski and most recently Juan Román Riquelme, the guestbook of the Hennef College of Physical Education of the Mittelrhein e.V. football club in Geistingen reads like a “who’s who” of the foot-balling world. Following extensive upgrades up to the end of 2006, Hennef College of Physical Education is still considered one of the leading colleges of physical education in Europe and is also a federal performance centre for boxing, wrestling and judo.

Hennef ’s claims to academic fame don’t end there. It is also the location for the Richard-Schirrmann special school of the Rhein-Sieg district. Th e school is named after Richard Schirrmann who came up with the idea of “youth hostels” on the school premises in Hennef-Bröl on 26 August 1909 while sheltering there with his class of students following an unexpected outbreak of bad weather.

Depuis les années 50, Hennef est également le lieu d‘entraînement pour les sportifs de haut niveau. Qu’il s’agisse de Sepp Herberger, Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Wolfgang Overath, Lukas Podolski ou, dernièrement, de Juan Roman Riquelme, le livre d’or de l’école de sport de l‘association de football Fußball-Ver¬band Mittelrhein e.V., située à Hennef, dans le quartier de Geistingen, a des airs de « Who is Who » du football mondial. L’école de sport de Hennef, où d’importants travaux d’agrandissement ont été réalisés en 2006, reste comme par le passé l’une des écoles de sport les plus renommées en Europe. Notons aussi que Hennef propose, en outre, un établissement scolaire particulier : l’école pour les élèves en diffi culté scolaire, la Richard-Schirrmann-För¬derschule, de l’arrondissement Rhin/Sieg. Elle a été baptisée ainsi car c’est dans ce bâtiment scolaire de Hennef-Bröl que l’instituteur Richard Schirrmann, le 26 août 1909, initia le concept de l’auberge de jeunesse. Alors qu’un vio-lent orage avait éclaté soudainement, il avait trouvé refuge, avec sa classe, dans le bâtiment.

Od lat pięćdziesiątych Hennef jest również ośrodkiem szkole-niowym dla zawodowych sportowców. W księdze gości szkoły sportowej stowarzyszenia Fußball-Verband Mittelrhein e.V. fi gurują nazwiska takich sław światowego futbolu jak Sepp Her-berger, Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Wolfgang Overath, Lukas Po-dolski czy Juan Román Riquelme. Experience Culture A music school, city library and municipal cultural programme

– it goes without saying that Hennef has all of these. However, cultural life in the city is decisively shaped by clubs and private initiatives also – with the relevant logistical and fi nancial support from the city. First and foremost, the many choral and music so-cieties and their numerous appearances ensure a packed calendar. Concerts on the Rieger organ built in 2006 in the Sankt Simon und Judas parish church are always a highlight. Hennef ’s “Kur Th eater”, a cinema since 1925 and now operated by an associati-on, has established itself for some years as a venue for well-known smaller-scale performing artists and is awarded year after year by the NRW fi lm foundation for its cinema programme. Th e “Hen-nef Art Initiative” also holds two exhibitions each year at the Meys factory which attract art lovers from all over the region. Th e city awards a youth art prize each autumn in conjunction with the initiative.

Th e students of the city’s music school regularly enjoy good success in the “Jugend musiziert” music competition and are also well worth going to see. In April each year, almost all students take part in a stage musical with their choirs and orchestras. Ima-ginative and surprising adaptations of well-known fairy tales are presented. Th e city also has its own programme off ering four co-medy and music evenings, theatre for children aged four and over and readings in the city library. Th e “Stadtfest” (city festival) in Hennef, held on the third weekend in September each year, has also won a place for itself in the music scene in the region for some years with its numerous rock and pop concerts.

La vie culturelle de la ville est toutefois mar-quée par ses nombreuses associations et initiatives privées – la ville leur apportant un soutien logistique et des aides fi nancières généreuses. Ce sont, en premier lieu, les nombreuses chorales et les sociétés de musique qui remplissent le calendrier culturel tout au long de l’année. Les concerts donnés sur l’orgue Rieger de l’Église paroissiale Saint Simon et Judas, érigée en 2006, constitu-ent toujours une sorte d’apothéose à ces manifestations. Le théât-re « Kur-Th eater », transformé, depuis 1925, en cinéma et exploi-té aujourd’hui par une association, s’est forgé une solide réputation, depuis quelques années, en tant que salle de spectacle où se produisent de nombreuses artistes renommés de cabaret. Par ailleurs, il récolte chaque année, grâce à sa programmation de fi lms très intéressante, un prix décerné par la Fondation pour le cinéma de Rhénanie du Nord-Westphalie. Et l’initiative « In¬itiative Kunst Hennef » attire, avec deux expositions annuel-les, les amateurs d’art venus de toute la région pour contempler les œuvres exposées dans la « Meys Fabrik ». Le prix artistique de la jeunesse est décerné chaque année à l’automne par la ville et par cette initiative.

Les élèves de l’école de musique de la ville, qui remportent ré-gulièrement un franc succès lors du concours « Jugend musiziert », méritent eux aussi un prix. Chaque année, au mois d’avril, ce sont quasiment tous les élèves et leurs chœurs et orchestres qui se retrouvent sur scène pour interpréter un music-hall. On peut y admirer des adaptations surprenantes et débordant d’imagination de célèbres contes pour enfants. Au-delà, le programme de la ville propose quatre spectacles humoristiques et soirées concerts par an ainsi que des pièces de théâtre pour enfants à partir de quatre ans et des lectures qui se déroulent dans l’enceinte de la bibliothèque municipale. Depuis quelques années, la fête de la ville de Hennef, par ailleurs – qui a lieu, chaque année, respectivement le troi-sième week-end du mois de septembre –, avec ses nombreux con-certs rock et pop, s’est fait un nom dans la scène musicale de la région.

Jed-nak o życiu kulturalnym miasta decydują w znacznym stopniu działające bardzo aktywnie kluby, stowarzyszenia i prywatne inic-jatywy obywatelskie - wspierane od strony logistycznej i fi nanso-wej przez miasto. Kalendarz imprez i wydarzeń kulturalnych wypełniają liczne występy zespołów muzycznych i wokalnych. Do najważniejszych lokalnych imprez zaliczają się odbywające się regularnie koncerty w kościele parafi alnym p.w. św. Szymona i św. Judy na wykonanych w 2006 roku organach znanej fi rmy Rieger. Na szczególną uwagę zasługują także występy artystów w działającym w Hennef od 1925 roku i prowadzonym obecnie przez jedno z tutejszych stowarzyszeń kinie „Kur-Th eater“, które za swój kinowy program co roku zdobywa nagrodę fundacji kine-matografi cznej Filmstiftung NRW. Odbywająca się dwa razy w roku impreza artystyczna pod nazwą „Initiative Kunst Hennef“ przyciąga do fabryki Meysa miłośników i zapaleńców sztuki z całego regionu. W ramach imprezy miasto przyznaje jesienią każdego roku nagrodę w dziedzinie sztuki młodzieżowej.

Na uznanie zasługują również uczniowie tutejszej szkoły muzy-cznej, którzy regularnie zajmują wysokie miejsca w konkursie pt. „Młodzież muzykuje”. W kwietniu każdego roku niemal wszyscy uczniowie szkoły stają na scenie w charakterze członków chóru lub orkiestry w wystawianych tu musicalach. Są to najczęściej fantazyjne i zaskakujące adaptacje znanych baśni. Ponadto stałe miejsce w kalendarzu miejskich imprez kulturalnych zajmują odbywające się cztery razy do roku autorskie wieczory satyryczno-muzyczne, przedstawienia teatralne dla dzieci w wieku od 4 lat, a także odczyty literackie w bibliotece miejskiej. Od kilku lat ważnym wydarzeniem muzycznym jest także odbywający się co roku w trzeci weekend września Festyn Miejski, któremu towarzyszą liczne koncerty rockowe i popowe.

Historical Cultural Landscape ofTown of Blankenberg-Bödingen

Hennef can boast one of the best preserved large castles of the High Middle Ages in the Rhineland – Blankenberg Castle – and one of the most important places of Marian pilgrimage – Bödin-gen. Both can be seen from high ridges to the left and right of the river Sieg, surrounded by rural countryside which has retained its original structure for centuries. Since 2008, both places and the surrounding countryside have been designated the fi rst monu-ment area across a cultural landscape in NRW: “Cultural Lands-cape of the Lower Sieg Valley: Town of Blankenberg, Bödingen”.

Th e history of Blankenberg castle and town dates back to the 12th century. Blankenberg received its town charter in 1245, while the castle was an administrative centre of the Berg duchy for several centuries. Th e castle complex has been in ruins since the Th irty Years’ War. Th e small half-timbered idyll, with well-preserved, powerful town gates and a largely intact city wall, is particularly well-visited in summer. Th e tower museum, a small viniculture museum and a wine trail bring the history of the lo-cation to life. Th e Bödingen pilgrimage site also dates back to the Middle Ages. Th e hermit Christian von Lauthausen had a picture of the Virgin Mary produced and mounted following a vision in the second half of the 14th century. Giving consideration to the infl ux of pilgrims, Geistingen-based priest Peter Meisenbach or-ganised the construction of the “Mater Dolorosa” pilgrimage church from 1397 onwards. Th is still holds the picture of the Virgin Mary to this day. On the fourth Friday after Easter, it is carried through the area as part of the compassion festival. Bö-dingen is the only parish in Germany where this festival of Mari-an compassion (“Compassio Mariae”), fi rst started in 1423, con-tinues today.

Avec le château-fort de Blankenberg, Hennef peut se targuer d’abriter l’un des châteaux forts les mieux conservés de Rhénanie, datant du Moyen-Âge classique. Quant à Bödingen, c’est l‘un des lieux de pèlerinage consacrés à la Vierge les plus importants de la région. Ces deux hauts lieux touristiques, nichés dans un pay-sage villageois très pittoresque qui a su préserver, au fi l des siècles, son caractère authentique, surplombent, à droite et à gauche, le fl euve Sieg. Depuis 2008, ces deux sites et leur campagne envi-ronnante constituent le premier domaine patrimonial du paysage culturel de Rhénanie du Nord Westphalie : Le Paysage culturel de la vallée inférieure de la Sieg : Ville de Blankenberg, Bödingen.

L’histoire du château-fort et de la ville de Blankenberg remonte au 12e siècle. En 1245, Blankenberg s’est vu conférer les droits de ville, et le château-fort, pendant plusieurs siècles, était le siège administratif du Duché de Berg. La forteresse a été détruite lors de la guerre de 30 ans. Ce lieu, surtout en été, est très prisé des touristes qui peuvent venir admirer le décor idyllique des maisons à colombage, les impressionnantes portes de la ville très bien con-servées ainsi que les remparts quasiment intacts. Le musée de la Tour, un petit musée viticole et le sentier de randonnée le long des vignes rendent palpables l’histoire du site. L’histoire du lieu de pèlerinage de Bödingen remonte elle aussi au Moyen-Âge : Au cours de la seconde moitié du 14e siècle, l’ermite Christian von Lauthausen eut une vision et fi t ériger, suite à cela, une image de la Vierge. Pour faire face à l’affl ux des pèlerins, le prêtre Peter Meisenbach fi t construire, à partir de 1397, l’Eglise de pèlerinage « Mater Dolorosa », dans laquelle on peut contempler, jusqu’à aujourd’hui, l’image de la Vierge. Chaque année, lors du quatriè-me vendredi après Pâques, elle est portée dans la commune à l’occasion des célébrations de la Fête de la Compassion de la Sainte Vierge. Bödingen est la seule paroisse en Allemagne qui perpétue encore de nos jours la tradition de cette Fête de la Com-passion (« Compassio Mariae »), célébrée pour la première fois en 1423.

Usytuowany w obrębie administracyjnym Hennef zamek Blan-kenberg zalicza się do najlepiej zachowanych późnośredniowiecznych wielkich zespołów obronnych w całej Nadrenii, a pobliskie Bödingen jest jednym z ważniejszych miejsc pielgrzymek maryjnych. Obie miejscowości leżą nieopodal siebie na wzniesieniach po obu stronach rzeki Sieg i otoczone są idylli-cznym, wiejskim pejzażem zachowanym od stuleci w swej pier-wotnej strukturze. Od 2008 roku oba miasteczka wraz z przyległymi terenami są pierwszym obszarem w obrębie landu Nadrenia Północna-Westfalia objętym ochroną dziedzictwa kul-turowego. Zespół nosi wspólną nazwę „Dolina Dolnego Biegu Rzeki Sieg – Miasto Blankenberg-Bödingen“.

Historia twierdzy i miasteczka Blankenberg sięga XII wieku. W 1245 roku Blankenberg otrzymał prawa miejskie, a zamek przez kilka wieków był siedzibą administracyjną księstwa Berg. Obiekt zamkowy uległ zniszczeniu podczas Wojny Trzydziestoletniej. Sz-czególnie latem malownicze, szachulcowe domki oraz dobrze za-chowane, potężne bramy i mało zniszczone mury miejskie przyciągają tłumy turystów. Historię tego miejsca z pewnością przybliży zwiedzającym wizyta w muzeum mieszczącym się w wieży oraz wizyta w niewielkim muzeum winiarstwa. Warto także przejść się tutejszym winnym szlakiem turystycznym. Bardzo długa, bo również sięgająca średniowiecza, jest historia pielgrzy-mek do Bödingen. W drugiej połowie XIV wieku tutejszy osad-nik Christian von Lauthausen, któremu ponoć objawiła się Mat-ka Boska, kazał sporządzić i ustawić tu obraz maryjny. Aby sprostać potrzebom tysięcy pielgrzymów proboszcz z Geistingen, Peter Meisenbach, rozpoczął w 1397 roku budowę kościoła piel-grzymkowego „Mater Dolorosa”, w którym obraz maryjny można podziwiać do dnia dzisiejszego. Co roku w czwarty piątek po Wielkanocy podczas nabożeństwa zwanego Drogą Współcierpienia Matki Boskiej obraz obnoszony jest po miasteczku. Bödingen jest jednocześnie jedyną parafi ą w Niemczech, w której owo wpro-wadzone w 1423 roku święto obchodzi się w takiej formie do dziś.

Chronos Weighing MachineHennef was a small, unimposing place when one man came up

with a plan which revolutionised industry and trade and heralded a new era – that of automatic weighing. Carl Reuther and the Chronos weighing machine. Until 1883, humankind had manu-ally weighed goods for many centuries. Th e Chronos weighing machine made it possible for bulk goods to be automatically and precisely weighed for the fi rst time. Th e weighing machine was built in the “C. Reuther & Reisert Machine Factory Hennef”, the subsequent Chronos factory which enjoyed a global monopo-ly on automatic weighing machines until the middle of the 20th century.

Th e Chronos weighing machine invented by Carl Reuther and Eduard Reisert triggered the development of modern industrial and computer-based weighing technologies, now common all over the world. Entrepreneur Carl Reuther also laid the founda-tion for Hennef ’s industrialisation. His fi rst company, the “C. Reuther and Co. Agricultural Machine Factory Hennef”, was the nucleus for all subsequent Hennef companies, including those of the locksmith Johann Steimel, the master foundryman Johann Friedrich Jacobi and the “Joseph Meys & Comp., G.m.b.H., Ag-ricultural Machine Factory and Iron Foundry”. Today’s vocatio-nal college in Hennef also has its roots in the continuation school founded by Carl Reuther in 1897.

Waga Chronos była pierwszym urządzeniem umożliwiającym w pełni automatyczne i dokładne ważenie towarów sypkich. Wagę skonstruowano w tutejszej fab-ryce maszyn, działającej wówczas pod nazwą „Hennefer Maschi-nenfabrik C. Reuther & Reisert“, późniejszej Fabryce Wag Chro-nos, która do połowy XX wieku posiadała światowy monopol na produkcję wag automatycznych.

Hennef in Europe “Hennef in Europe” – this is not only the motto of Hennef

Europe Week (held since 2005) and a correct geographical state-ment given Hennef ’s location, it also refl ects the lived reality. Hennef has built up particularly strong ties of friendship with three cities. It has been twinned with the English town of Banbu-ry since 1981. Banbury is located in north Oxfordshire, half-way between London and Birmingham. Hennef ’s French “ville jume-lée” is Le Pecq sur Seine, near Paris. Th is partnership has been in place since 1997. And fi nally, a close friendship has developed with “miasta partnerskie” Nowy Dwór Gdanski at the Vistula estuary, close to Gdansk and the Baltic Sea, since 2001.

Th e primary driver for all partnerships is Hennef ’s European twinning association – the “Verein für Europäische Städte-Part-nerschaft Hennef”. Th ere is also lots of contact between the schools and clubs of all cities and many personal friendships have developed through mutual visits and exchange programmes. In 2007, Hennef Europe Week and the partnerships were even awarded a “Twinning Gold Star” by the European Commission.

Europe Week, held in early summer each year, has become a kind of fi xed date in the calendar for all four partners. Th e spirit of Europe is brought to live through music and dance on the stage in the market square, with all kinds of culinary treats, work-shops and promotions on off er. Children and young people par-ticularly benefi t from this. And sport in Hennef also features here – the “Europe Week Run” with some 1500 entrants year on year has become one of the most important events in the region’s sporting calendar.

de circonstances prononcée lors de la semaine européenne de Hennef qui se déroule chaque année depuis 2005 et d‘une cons-tatation géographiquement correcte eu égard à la situation de Hennef. Il s’agit bien plus d’une réalité vécue au quotidien. Hen-nef a scellé son amitié avec trois villes européennes : Depuis 1981, la ville anglaise de Banbury est la « Twin Town » de Hennef. Ban-bury est située au nord de Oxfordshire, à mi-chemin entre Lond-res et Birmingham. Le Pecq sur Seine, dans la région parisienne, est la ville jumelée française de Hennef. Ce jumelage existe depuis 1997. Pour fi nir, depuis 2001, une étroite amitié lie la ville de Hennef à sa « Miasta partnerskie » Nowy Dwör Gdanski, située dans la région de l’embouchure du fl euve polonais Vistule, non loin de Gdańsk et de la Mer Baltique.

Le moteur de tous ces jumelages est avant tout l’Association des jumelages avec les villes européennes de la ville de Hennef, le « Verein für Europäische Städte-Partnerschaft Hennef ». Au-delà, de nombreux contacts sont entretenus entre les écoles et les asso-ciations des villes et de nombreuses amitiés personnelles, incluant visites et programmes d‘échange mutuels, ont vu le jour. En 2007, la semaine européenne de Hennef et les jumelages se sont même vus décerner par la Commission Européenne le « Prix étoiles d’or », récompensant les jumelages ayant encouragé l‘action et le débat sur des questions européennes.

La semaine européenne, qui se déroule chaque année à l’aube de l’été, est entre-temps devenu une date fi xe dans le calendrier des quatre partenaires. La scène de la Place du Marché vibre au son de la musique et de la danse, de nombreuses off res culinaires font le plaisir des palais et les diff érents ateliers et manifestations font de l’Europe un concept vécu et incarné. C’est surtout les enfants et les jeunes qui en profi tent. Et le sport vient une fois de plus marquer l’image de la ville de Hennef : En eff et, la course « Europawochelauf » accueille, année après année, quelque 1 500 participants, ce qui en fait désormais l’un des événements sportifs les plus importants de la région.

Miasto Hennef nawiązało bliską i opartą na part-nerskich zasadach współpracę z trzema innymi europejskimi mi-astami. Pierwszym z nich jest od 1981 roku brytyjskie bliźniacze miasto Banbury w hrabstwie Nord Oxfordshire w połowie drogi między Londynem a Birmingham. Drugim miastem partnerskim jest od 1997 roku francuskie miasteczko Le Pecq sur Seine pod Paryżem. W 2001 roku Hennef nawiązało też partnerskie stosun-ki z położonym nad Wisłą nieopodal Gdańska i Bałtyku Nowym Dworem Gdańskim.

Inicjatorem i motorem napędowym współpracy jest przede wszystkim „Stowarzyszenie na Rzecz Partnerstwa Miast Europejs-kich w Hennef”. Współpraca zaowocowała również licznymi kontaktami pomiędzy szkołami i stowarzyszeniami, a także znajomościami i przyjaźniami na płaszczyźnie prywatnej, którym towarzyszą wzajemne wizyty i programy wymiany. W 2007 roku idea Europejskiego Tygodnia Hennef oraz partnerskie kontakty miasta zostały nagrodzone „Złotą Gwiazdą Partnerstwa” przyznawaną przez Komisję Europejską.

Organizowany co roku na początku lata Europejski Tydzień zapewnił już sobie stałe miejsce w kalendarzu imprez wszystkich czterech miast partnerskich. Podczas odbywających się w ramach imprezy występów tanecznych i muzycznych na rynkowej scenie, licznych degustacji, warsztatów i happeningów ożywa idea zjed-noczonej Europy. Impreza adresowana jest przede wszystkim do dzieci i młodzieży, ale zyskuje na niej również sportowe oblicze Hennef, gdyż organizowany w ramach festynu bieg przyciąga ro-krocznie około 1.500 uczestników i awansował już do miana jed-nego z najważniejszych wydarzeń sportowych w regionie.

…the fossil bed in Hennef-Rott is one of the most important in the world? Finds can be seen in many museums, both at home and abroad. It was the location for a primeval sea 25 million years ago. Th e sediment, particularly oil shale, was mined until well into the 19th century. During this, 900 diff erent types of fossi-lised animal and plant species were found, such as dragonfl y eggs on a bay leaf, the skeleton of a pika, a rhinoceros, an artiodactyl, a crocodile and a frog.

…there are 50 sports clubs in Hennef? Th ey cover almost all popular types of sports for all age groups. Th e city has also been gradually and comprehensively upgrading its sporting facilities in recent years, with Hennef ’s football clubs now playing on modern artifi cial turf, for example. At the Hennef College of Physical Education of the Mittelrhein football club, both amateur enthusiasts of the popular sport and world-class athletes can fi nd perfect training conditions. Th e College of Physical Education is also a federal performance centre for boxing, judo and wrestling and the base for the German Taekwondo Union.

... le site fossilifère de Hennef-Rott est l’un des plus importants au monde ? Les nombreux objets archéologiques sont exposés dans des musées allemands et internationaux. Un lac primitif se trouvait en ce lieu, il y a quelque 25 millions d’années. Jusqu’à une bonne partie du 19e siècle, les strates, formées majoritaire-ment de schiste bitumineux, furent exploitées. Dans ce cadre, on découvrit plus de 900 espèces d’animaux et de plantes fossilisées : par exemple des larves de libellule sur une feuille de laurier, le squelette d’un pika, d’un rhinocéros, d’un artiodactyle, d’un crocodile et d’une grenouille.
