Faro ConventionIt is stated that “everyone, alone or collectively, has the right
to benefit from the cultural heritage and to contribute towards its enrichment” (art. 4)
The Parties undertake to “encourage everyone to participate in the process of identification, study,
interpretation, protection, conservation and presentation of the cultural heritage”, as well as in a “public reflection and
debate on the opportunities and challenges which the cultural heritage represents” (art. 12)

SOLUTIONS
• how to achieve a thorough engagement of most citizens (especiallythose who are not usually interested in cultural activities) >identification, in accordance with the stakeholders, of local «hubs» to promote participation (e.g. libraries, city halls, special events)
• how to involve those citizens (esp. elderlies) who are not familiar with PCs/internet > paper forms that citizens can find in the local «hubs»
• how to make entries on the online platform as simple as possible, especially as far as identifying the correct category is concerned >simplification of categories (e.g. no tangible/intangible), leaving citizens to describe items more freely + constantsupport in the local «hubs»
• new local meetings to promote citizens’ involvement and to offer them feedback on the data collected so far
